I’ve been a Mac guy for a long time but needed a windows based laptop for work. Best Buy associate recommended this one and I couldn’t be happier. It’s super fast and great for gaming when I’m bored working from home. Was also super easy to upgrade to a 1TB hard drive .

It’s an excellent laptop. I don’t use it for the purpose of gaming but with the intentions of video editing and the RAM is upgradable. Otherwise, it’s very fast and does exactly what I needed it to do. The design is sleek and I like the backlit keyboard. Thumbs up!

The Acer nitro 5 15.6" gaming laptop with Intel core i5- 8 GB memory-nvidia geforce gtx 1050-256 solid state drive has been great so far. This purchase was for my son as a freshman in college. Enough memory and plenty of speed to handle all course material and play many different games. He hasn't had any complaints yet.

I was really scared I would hate it but its easily the best computer I've had for this price The only thing that trips me up is the right shift key is shorter than a usual keyboard to make room for the arrow keys so sometimes I hit the up arrow instead of shift but that's it

Purchased this for our son who is just getting into PC gaming. I know most gamers build their own PC, but this laptop has performed great so far. We will see how it handles different games as times goes on, but for now at this price you can’t go wrong.

I love the laptop! I game a lot on it and haven't run into any problems playing any of the games I have. Also the graphics are amazing! The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is I have had a couple instances where it just restarts out of nowhere. Hasn't happened in couple days so we'll see.

    Very capable budget gaming laptop

This is a pretty capable gaming laptop for the money.  The pros include a 9th gen i5 processor, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 with 3GB DDR5 RAM, 8GB DDR4 RAM, backlit gaming suitable keyboard and a nice IPS display. I'm not a heavy gamer, so this handles pretty much anything I need.  I mostly play games like Destiny 2 and Sims 4 and this handles both with no problems at decent resolutions and frame rates. It's also a great laptop for video and photo editing. Here are my personal observations: Display: This Nitro has a nice glare-free matte finish IPS display that is clear, bright and sharp. The panel in this specific laptop doesn’t have any dead or stuck pixels nor any light bleed along the edges. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the display panel quality at this price point. I’ve seen panels in much more expensive machines that were of inferior quality. Although the panel is IPS, it still works very well for gaming. Again, I’m not a hardcore gamer, so I can’t speak for every game. But it looks nice with the games I’ve tried so far, as well as watching videos, viewing and editing photos and normal desktop use.   Software: Acer thankfully keeps the preinstalled bloatware to a minimum.  Other than a few of Acer's OEM apps, the only other installed bloatware is a 30-day trial of Norton Ultra, an OEM branded version of Cyberlink PowerDirector and Mozilla Firefox.  I actually kept and use all three, so I can't really call it bloatware for my personal use.  I only kept Norton because I already have a Norton subscription, so I’ll enter my previous key once the trial expires. I even found one of Acer's OEM apps are actually useful.  The Acer network optimizer allows network prioritization of apps.  This helps with gaming and streaming when you want the active content prioritized over background or less important apps. Build Quality: The laptop has a quality feel and sturdy build. There are plenty of air vents along the sides and bottom to help prevent overheating. There are also plenty of ports. Ports include two USB 3 type A ports, one USB type C port, one HDMI port, one 3.5mm audio port and a gigabit ethernet jack. I wish it also had a built-in card reader but that’s necessarily an essential port on a gaming PC. I really like that it has a LAN jack which is an essential feature for gaming. The red backlit keyboard is responsive with solid feel to the key action. The keyboard is laid out in gaming fashion and has a number pad. The trackpad is okay but not illuminated like the keyboard. Weight for this laptop is isn’t too bad. It’s a gaming laptop, so it’s not as light or compact as many standard laptops but it’s still manageable and easy to transport on the go. Performance: As I’ve shared above, it handles pretty much everything I typically throw at it. My normal use is mostly desktop (productivity apps, email, web browsing) with an occasional game, photo or video edit. The machine runs quiet and cool for the most part but if it is taxed, has an efficient cooling system as well as vents galore. I have not had any issues with overheating or games freezing and becoming unresponsive. Although an i5, 8GB RAM and a 1050 GTX isn’t a world beater gaming rig, it will satisfy a large portion of gamers. I believe this is suitable for all but the most intensive gamers looking to play bleeding edge games at max resolutions and frame rates. Battery life is to be expected from a gaming system, which is moderate to poor. Right now, if I do nothing but desktop work, I get about 3-5 hours per charge of continuous use. I’m sure resource intensive gaming would pent a bigger dent into that. It’s still a relatively new system, so maybe I’ll get better battery life as the battery conditions further but that’s my out of the box first week observation. I consider any gaming laptop under $800 to be a budget model.  I recently saw this laptop on sale for under $700.  At that price, it's a steal considering what you get. It may not be a top of the line machine but it’s definitely more than capable and better than many other budget gaming machines in the same price range.

Great laptop for getting into gaming. Has no problem running the games i play (ie: civ, endless space) haven't pushed the graphics card too hard. The antivirus software is a bit overbearing. Is still fast with multiple programs running. The fans seem to be well placed and keep the system cool.

It's a decent gaming laptop for starters. I haven't had any problems with it since I use it for mostly school work. the only games I play on this laptop are LOL and Valorant, and they all run pretty smooth.

Got an open box for less than $560 so was an excellent price for a PC with discreet GPU. Light gaming feels better. Battery life not as good but plan to keep it plugged in most of the time anyway.
