||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was on the fence in getting this and a more expensive gaming laptop, but this model is very capable. Keyboard feels very responsive and see goes for the track pad. The lack of optical drivei s a minus but you can find an USB one really cheap. No problems since I bought the laptop and I have been

Great Laptop and all around one too.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 2nd laptop, my first one left a stale taste in my mouth. So I was hesitant on getting this one and not just buying a full monitor and desktop. After buying this though I happy with my decision. Eventually though I playing on putting money towards something more for the long run, but it is a great start.

A Top Entry Level Laptop for Mobile Gaming!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you’re looking for a laptop that will get you in the game without sacrificing on graphics or pummeling your wallet, you’ve probably come across Acer’s lineup of Nitro 5 model gaming laptops. -=The TL/DR=- This portable, snappy, 15” laptop plays Apex at 60 FPS on high settings, Anthem at 40 FPS on medium settings, has a Cinebench 20 score of 1607, Unigine Heaven extreme preset score of 1435 @ 57 FPS, and a gaming score of 53 using User Benchmark. Keyboard and trackpad are good enough, sound isn’t bad at all for a laptop. The dedicated Nitro Sense button is a nice addition. Display, at 1080p, looks fantastic although the backlight could be brighter. This is an entry level gaming laptop for AAA titles. -=Performance=- The 9th generation i5 that comes in this is impressive. I don’t have any issues at all browsing, loading programs or playing games. It does run a bit warm as the recent generation intel chips do, but I haven’t noticed this affecting performance. The Cinebench 20 score of 1607 is respectable for being a quad core CPU. The 8gb of ram installed is enough for most normal tasks. Probably won’t be editing large high res video without doubling up. -=Graphics=- The 1650 will surprise you in this machine. In the past, the 50 suffixes on Nvidia’s cards was enough to be able to say it had dedicated graphics but didn’t really do a whole lot for gaming. The 1650 will let you game at 1080 at medium to high settings, depending on the game. I played several farm runs in Anthem and only seen frame drops when I was in Fort Taris. Didn’t have any issues at all going into Apex Legends. The graphics defaulted to high, another stick of ram could possibly get you to very high. -=Audio/Video=- I fired up Spotify on this to do some housework. I wasn’t expecting much, and honestly, was expecting a lot worse. I was pleasantly surprised when the sound at max settings didn’t sound muffled or distorted at all. It wasn’t heavy in the bass or loud enough to be heard throughout the house, but it sounded good. I noticed in games too when the volume was turned up, it was clear enough to hear what direction the enemies were in. The webcam is awful. I suppose if you need one for any reason, it’s there, but it’s grainy and dark. -=Design=- Acer is sticking to the dark red and black look that’s been a staple of their Nitro series of laptops. I like how from the front and sides it seems like a typical laptop, but when you look at the sharp angles and edged that is the exhaust, you can tell it might do something more than type up emails or reports. The build quality seems to be OK. The keyboard has some flex, but the hinge and display appear to be solid. I would have liked to see RGB on the keyboard. Having just one color (red) is kind of blah in todays day and age. They did manage to keep the laptop thin and thin enough that they had to use a hinge for the ethernet port. -=I/O=- The right side has the power input, USB 2, and audio jack. The left side has two USB 3 Type A and one USB type C (no thunderbolt 3, sad), HDMI, and an Ethernet. It has an intel Wireless AC 9560 with Bluetooth 5.0. I’m currently rocking 866.7 Mbps on wireless. -=Memory/Storage=- This Nitro 5 model ships with a 128GB NVMe OS drive and a 1tb HDD. The memory has two slots with only one occupied with an 8GB stick of 2667mhz memory. -=Battery=- The battery seems solid as long as you’re not gaming. I streamed a 4k video for 30 minutes and still displaying 4 hours remaining. I would imagine gaming would quickly drain the battery if you’re not plugged in. You’ll get several hours of browsing and streaming videos when you’re not running the GPU. -=Final Thoughts=- I think Acer has a great machine in the entry level of AAA gaming laptops. The 1650 outperforms last year’s 1050 Ti as well as the i5 9300H, edging out last year’s i5 8300H. You wouldn’t be embarrassed to use it in a coffee shop or conference room. It’s small enough to fit nicely in your lap, but 15” is large enough not to have to squint at the screen. I’m very impressed with this Nitro 5.

Awesome Budget laptop!
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great gaming Budget laptop! Runs VR okay and most games at high. For an added boost, I installed a m.2 nVme drive specifically for game storage. The best part is the expandability this computer offers from the manufacturer. The rear cover is super easy to get off and the display OC to 90 hz without an issue!

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was purchased for gaming and has not disappointed so far. I love the cooling system with the fans and the monitoring system. The audio is loud and clear. The screen is large, the images are super clear and settings can be maxed out on all of my current games. Zero complaints at this time

Perfect workhorse laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needed a laptop that can handle browsing and playing destiny 2 every now and then and this one was fully capable. Though it's not touch screen, willing to give it up for having an amazing display. The backlit red keys are a nice touch

Great non gaming computer!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this because it had the best specs out there for a reasonable price. Even though it's made for gaming, the design is not so obnoxious where you can't use it in a work environment. We also changed the 1TB drive to another SSD so now, this machine really rocks.

Effective Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been looking into replacing my notebook as certain programs, like Photoshop and Premiere Pro, couldn't handle running on its processor. As of now the Nitro 5 has been a joy to utilize with it's updated specs, definitely a smart purchase.

Solid Gaming Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is pretty good for the price. I was able to play Dead By Daylight and Ark on it with no problems. It got a little hot after a while but I'm sure that's to be expected. Overall satisfied with it and would recommend it to a friend.

Terrible experience
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had several problems with battery life not lasting more than an hour. Had to send one back because it would only charge to 75%. Best Buy replaced quick then we had to send the other to manufacture for battery replacement which took weeks to get back and the battery has the exact same issues. The whole point of laptops is to move around freely But these might as well be desktops because they have to be constantly plugged in to the wall. I would not recommend for heavy users.

Not bad
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s not bad. I grabbed it to play Sims 4 (yes I have all the stuff, game and expansion packs) and it runs smoothly along with some maxis match cc. It’s a good gaming laptop for beginners and Sims

Starts and runs super quick
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to get this computer for college and it is great for everything I need as a architecture student. It runs fast, has a lot of storage and the keys lighting up was nicer than I thought for late night studying while your roommate is sleeping.

Great laptop for beginners!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The nitro 5 is a good laptop so far. It loads up quickly. I mainly got it to play games like GTA and there is no lag. But I mostly use it to play the sims 3 and play lag-free and has a lot of room for lots of custom content.
