I picked this up when my Asus Strix laptop with a 3070 and an AMD 8 core bit the dust. The big draw was that it was on sale, with a 4080, and with a super fast screen. 16gb of system ram seemed a bit low in my option, even just sitting at idle would consume maybe 40%. In game it would be nearly maxed. Getting a 32gb kit was no big deal and a piece of cake to install. That might be the best part about this laptop - accessing the internals is a series of torx screws and they all are easily removed. There is no RGB on the underside so there is no muss or fuss with wires connecting the bottom panel to the body.
In game, it's an animal. There are 4 different fan speed settings you can select from. Turbo overclocks everything a little bit and turns the fans to maximum. It's rather noisy but you're going to get a ton of performance. If you have noise canceling headphones, this would not be a bad option to run. Performance turns the fans "up" a bit, but is much quieter than turbo. I switch to this mode if I'm playing something especially taxing. However, I keep the laptop in "balanced" mode most of the time because the fans are on, but they are rather quiet. The CPU and GPU are throttled, but with DLSS and other tricks in games, the performance drop is no big deal IMO.
There is a second, unused M.2 slot which I immediately populated with a 2tb NVME.
I have absolutely no complaints. I didn't think it was going to be quite as good as it was coming from my Strix, but this thing is a beast. Absolutely would recommend and would buy again.

Stop looking, this is the one. This computer is an absolute beast! Smashes through updates like I've never seen. I upgraded the ram from the 16gb DDR5 sodim 5200 to the max 32gb DDR5 5600. I run BF2042 on max Ultra settings pushing a 3K monitor @ a solid 100 FPS!! The predator sense software has four settings for performance. (Economy, balanced, high performance, turbo) I use (High Performance) because thermals are much more manageable and having (Turbo) mode only gains a few FPS. For cooling I bought a (llano RGB Laptop Cooling Pad) Over multiple hours of gaming this cooler keeps CPU temp @ 155-160 F GPU @ 155 F. Without this cooler, while gaming, this computer was reaching 185 F which is around the maximum preferable temp range you want to hit. Protect your investment and get the cooling pad. If gaming this will likely add years to the life of this device.
Pros : hundreds less than others with same specs
beautiful metal chassis
keyboard feels top notch quality
Bright RGB on back and keyboard (if your into that)
pushes triple A tittles on max settings
Cons: some bleed through on laptop screen corners
(hardly noticeable while gaming)
Battery lasts a few hours unplugged even while just browsing online. The CPU\GPU are power thirsty :)
This laptop is a portable gaming powerhouse and I could not be more happy with this purchase.

Owned gaming laptops for over 15 years, replaced an Eluktronics i7 with 2080 maxQ with this Acer.
Blown away, the difference in performance over the i7 with RTX 2080 maxQ is staggering.
Have stayed away from Acer products since the late 90's when their desktop PCs were the bottom of the barrel.
This machine changed my mind about Acer products today.
The build quality has a premium feel, the metal lid and palm rest/keyboard surround feels silky smooth and stays quite cool.
This RTX4080 machine will pump out overwatch2 on the highest quality (Epic) setting and maintain 240 FPS.
Definitely would recommend this to anyone wanting stellar performance in a compact footprint.
It is a bit heavy, which adds to the premium feel of this machine.
Fans have a unique sound when really spooling up during gaming as the blades are metal, opposed to the typical plastic fans, it does get a little loud, a higher pitched fan noise than any other laptop I have owned.
Cons? There are additional LED lights on the rear top, behind the screen hinges. That clear plastic piece has a rather tacky (in my opinion) design that is backlit when the rear lights are on. Purchased some automotive chrome blackout vinyl tape in a matte black finish -
Covered the offending (I use this machine for work) design with that blackout tape and am much less self-conscience about carrying a gaming machine for a work laptop.
Can't say enough good about this machine!

It’s been a great laptop for my travels for work. I would just caution budgeting for swapping to more ram and/adding another second SSD. Both are really simple to swap/add.

Unfortuantely I will be returning this laptop, while the specs are impressive and it does perform well considering ot is a laptop, Acer made the decision to lock undervolting and overclocking which really hampers the potential performance of this laptop and unfortunately can’t be fixed with a bios mod. I ended up switching over to a Lenovo Legion 7i with the same specs but the unlocked voltage control, overclocking and higher power limits mean I’m seeing 70ish more fps in The Finals at the same settings, and again about 50-60 more fps in MW3’s 6v6 matches. I can’t recommend this unless it’s on a deep sale, as similarly specced laptops can and will outperform it.

I absolutely love this laptop. From the moment i opened the box, i knew it was going to be great. The packaging was very well done. Then i pulled out the pc and loved the look and feel of it. I started the laptop up and all the lights went crazy for a spectacular show. Easy to set up. Beautiful and quick. I have been loving every second with it.

As soon as I turned it on the backlit keyboard lighting up with a cool pattern I didnt expect. As soon as the screen displayed the Predator logo I could tell it was crisp and clear. After getting through the windows setup I made a backup then removed all of the programs I had no use for and installed my trading software and a 4k player. The picture quality is great for charting and watching 2160 resolution videos was such a nice upgrade for me. The sound is much louder than I expected and can leave it at around 70% vs 100%. The 2 usb c ports are great for data transfer and charging. Overall for the price and specs its a great laptop. Happy I upgraded from my Nitro 5 to a Helios 16.

This would have not been my first choice of a brand. I guess I'm showing my age but Acer was never on the top of the list for me when it came to gaming products.. boy am I happy I gave this thing a try. This laptop is a beast, games run fantastic on it and I was getting way better performance than the Asus Strix G18 with same specs. The Acer management software is easy to work with and stays out of your way and the keyboard RGB looks great with all the key area lighting up so you can see the entire key in the dark (looking at you strix 18...) the laptop build quality is very good and feels premium and the 16" display looks fantastic! Also, having the AC charger port in the back is a nice touch. It's obvious that the people who designed this thing put an effort into giving gamers what gamers want..give this product a chance you wont regret it!

Overall, I am satisfied with this laptop. It's a beast! Three things that I did not like:
1) Back light bleed is really bad
2) Lack of user BIOS settings: This laptop comes stock with 16GB 5600 RAM. Upgrading to 64GB of 5600 RAM was only recognized at 4800 - This was a limitation with Acer's BIOS.
3) Laptop sleeve is way too big for the device but it was nice Acer included it.
What I liked:
1) Screen is responsive and beautiful despite the light bleed. I didn't notice while playing games.
2) Cooling was good for hours of game play with no issues.
3) Extra NVMe slot was available to increase hard drive space. Was very easy to remove the back cover and install myself.
4) Love the size and overall footprint of the device.

This thing is awesome. On turbo mode it runs around 80-90c on cpu and 65-75c on gpu while gaming, well within spec. plays Fortnite, cod, and apex at 1440p high settings with 150+ fps. Very happy with it.
