Great for 1440p gaming. Awesome screen gets bright.

Really great computer, was very surprised at its cooling functions and power considering how disappointed I was with the Zephyer 2021 model and its overheating issues. However this laptop does not let you down, the 16 inch screen and its "square" shape sorta a let down, but its still over all good.

I guess I was just unlucky but the one I got had some pretty strange issues. The USB-A ports on the right side were extremely tight which made it too hard to insert and remove dongles for my mouse and the Thunderbolt port wouldn't do full speed for my external drive. Now for the most annoying thing about it. After enabling the DGPU in the bios and in Nvidia Control panel the GPU just wouldn't hold the frames it needed in games and even in benchmarks it would crash the FPS and then jump right back up every half second or so. I assume it was being throttled somewhere but no matter what I did after all updates and settings it would keep doing this. I was stumped and decided to just stick with my Legion 5 Pro for now and may just go with Lenovo again. The good things are the screen was very nice and the speakers get very loud and were very clear. Overall I was disappointed that I had to return it as it would have been a great upgrade from my 3070 Legion 5 Pro but with there was just too many issues for me to keep it.

So impressed with the Acer Predator Helios 16 that I'm really not sure where to start. I guess I will start with the design & build quality. The design is simple, but with just a touch of gaming pizzazz. It has a tasteful design that would allow you to take it anywhere without it standing out. Externally, the only thing attention grabbing is the light bar on the rear of the machine above the USB-C, HDMI (2.1 I might ad) and the power port. It has kind of a space age look when its lit up. But of course, you can shut the light off and doing so makes this look like most other square slab laptops. And for me, this is a good thing. I won't go into details about the various ports as they are listed in the specs. But I will say you won't be left longing for ports. Everything you need is here. Build quality is very nice. It is a high quality plastic design (just like 99% of all laptops) but everything is very sturdy with no creaking or flexing. The screen is very stable and doesn't bounce around like so many laptops do. The track pad & keys are a joy to use. I really like the feel of the keyboard. Just enough travel in the keys. And of course, it has per key RGB lighting so you can light it up your own way. The lighting is very good on the keys. Adjustable and bright. The speakers are very nice, but like with most laptops you will probably want to use either headphones or an external speaker setup for the best sound. As for the screen, I will simple say it is outstanding. Bright with up to 500 nits, WQXGA and 240Hz. Color accuracy is brilliant. Seriously, I have never seen a better screen outside of OLED displays. I haven't found the fan noise to be an issue at all. Yes it does get a bit loud when it really heats up with some intense gaming. But I can safely say it's not enough to be distracting and I have certainly had louder laptops. Battery life. Well, it is a powerful gaming laptop so don't get your hopes up to high with the battery. Specs say up to 5 hours when web browsing and I would say that is accurate. But when it comes to gaming, you can watch the battery lever go down real fast. I don't consider this a negative. The simple fact is, if you are gaming you should be plugged in with any gaming computer. If you are dreaming of the the days when you can play AAA games for many hours on end at high settings while on battery power, well, I hate to say it but those days just aren't here yet. The power brick is big and heavy. It would be nice if it was just a simple USB-C charging system like so many new laptops are. But considering what's under the hood, its understandable why such a chunky power supply is needed. 13th gen i9 with an RTX 4080 and 16gb of DDR5 RAM (not to forget the incredible screen) is all top of the line specs that will simply eat power. But all of this combines to make a desktop level experience you can take anywhere. The i9 combined with the RTX 4080 means there is no game currently available that you won't be able to play while maxing out the settings. Period. Where as most gaming machines make a few compromises somewhere in the specs, this machine does not. I've only had it a week, but every game I've thrown at it has been an absolute joy to play on this Acer. I haven't had to scale my settings back for any game. Like I said before, this is real top of the line desktop performance in your lap. I might ad that the RAM and M.2 can be swapped out and there is even a slot for a second M.2. One thing to note regarding RAM, the 16gb of DDR5 that it comes with should be more than enough for most users. But if you do decide to ad more, the max amount is 32gb of RAM total between the two slots. Overall I have nothing but the highest praise for the Acer Predator Helios 16 and I would recommend it to any gamer out there who wants a top end laptop that will still be high end a few years down the line.

The laptop run everything extremely well with everygame or program. They only problem is it might get a little hot over time and the fans get load but thats laptop cooling. I havent seen it above 90c on cpu intesive games. And around 75-80c on fps game. It has an etra slot for m.2 ssd also

Not gonna even sugar coat it. This thing is a beast. Runs everything on ultra settings at over 75 fps minimum. Terrible speakers. Battery lasts an hour lol but honestly for the price I paid(2000 after tax) I'm very happy.

For the price, this gaming laptop is amazing. 3080 with an i9. The device runs great, and has great cooling capabilities when playing high end games, keeping the system from overheating. I get great FPS as well.

Great laptop. Kinda stingy with the ram and storages for over 2k dollars. The McAfee virus was present too. Excellent refresh rate, though not having HDR is kinda on the unusual side.

I Brought the laptop to replace my old one and it was perfect. it runs like a champ. the only thing i dont like is how hot it gets thou considering the specs and the ability to control the fan speeds its still pretty good

Its nice and gamer looking and runs well, but the inability to charge with USB-C is really a killer for me. I hate to HAVE to tote the big charger everywhere.

I recently purchased an Acer Predator Helios notebook and, unfortunately, I encountered numerous problems with the keyboard lighting. After searching through forums, it appears that this is a common issue, likely related to the Predator and Windows. It's frustrating to buy such an expensive computer and deal with this kind of problem.

Powerful for gaming but a laptop will never replace your desktop I got it for traveling

The laptop is amazing, the screen is very good but it arrived with a factory defect since it was downloaded playing connected to the power Resident Evil 4 and I imagine other AAA games as well, I sent it for warranty directly with Acer, and best buy It no longer gives me the option of returning it since the repair with Acer takes 10 or more days.

This was a steal, a computer with this kind of specs and at that price is amazing. I couldn't ask for better!
