I've had it for about month and so I'm still amazed on how fast and powerful it is. Theres a button the top left of the keyboard that allows you to quickly change modes from quiet, balanced, performance and Turbo. I play on maxed out settings on turbo with ease. The Screen This is the first laptop that i ever had to turn down the brightness because it is surprisingly BRIGHT! 80% is where I keep it. It's not 4k but still looks incredible. The refresh rate is smooth as butter when playing games or just browsing online. Fan noise I usually have it on balanced mode. When I'm watching movies, browsing online, YouTube or doing some work I don't hear the fan at all. But once I start playing a game this thing sounds like a jet about to take off. Definitely not for sneaking a game session at work or in a library. You will be heard lol. I bought a cooling pad that surprisingly can get louder than the laptop but it's to help make that laptop live a long life. I game with headphones so during gaming I don't anything but the game. I tried gaming without headphones and i did get used to the fan noise but headphones are the way to go. The Sound The sound can feel a bit deep but louder it sounds a bit piercing. The sound settings are a bit shallow. The sound did not wow me. I've heard Macbooks with better sound. Battery The battery does not last long at all. Even just browsing youtube it's going to last like 2.5hrs generously speaking. Unless you know you're going to use it for a short time somewhere then yeah that will work. But if you expect to game on t just battery then prepare for a short gaming session and lower performance on battery. It's the cost of having a high end GPU. Games Played newly released titles on ultra and it took it well with no hiccups. Cyberpunk, GTA V, Chronos, Dying light the beast ect. I play on turbo and with no apps playing in the background and I use a cooling pad fully maxed. Overall It's great if you buy when it's on sale. Battery sucks but if you're like me that always likes to have their laptop pluged in then yeah you'll be super happy with this. But if you're always on the go then this might be a bit of a struggle for you. I'm definitely happy with it.

I’ve been very impressed with the Acer Predator Helios 18 AI so far. The performance is outstanding—everything feels fast and smooth, whether I’m gaming, multitasking, or running demanding applications. The large 18-inch display is a big highlight: it’s sharp, bright, and great for both gaming and productivity. The build quality feels solid and premium, and the cooling system does a good job keeping temperatures under control even during heavy use. The keyboard is comfortable with good key travel, and the RGB lighting is a nice bonus without being over-the-top. On the downside, it’s definitely a large and heavy laptop, so it’s not ideal if you need something very portable. Fan noise can also get noticeable under full load, but that’s expected for this level of performance. Overall, this is an excellent choice if you want a high-performance gaming or creator laptop with a big, immersive screen. I’m very happy with the purchase.

Fantastic and powerful machine with a great array of ports around the machine. It is becoming more and more difficult to find a laptop with these precise specifications and placement of power, ethernet, video, USB ports. I like a laptop where the power, ethernet, video ports are all on the rear of the laptop so cables are out of your way if you use an external mouse. Then for ease of device connectivity and removal, I like a good mix of USB ports on both sides of the device. The only bad here is the placement of the network port. It is located on the left side rather than the rear. I wish they could have placed the network port on the rear along with the two USB 4 2.0 and power port and then add one more USB-C port to the left side in place of the network port there (which would be moved to the rear). Additional cons... - System memory seems to be limited to 4400MT/S even with 5600 DDR5 memory installed. This seems odd expecially when Intel's specifications would clearly support faster system memory bus speed. - The BIOS is very limited in settings that are configurable but at least allows you to control the MUX switch in BIOS unlike a different popular gaming laptop brand I will not name here. - Some possible system lockups depending on your GPU configuration and external display configuration - Some GPU MUX switch resets at system startup even when the the system was shut down normally. This is something I am still researching and diagnosing to determine whether it can be a bug or could have been just a few rare events on my machine. - Windows Home instead of Professional. You would think with the amount of money people are spending on these high end laptops, the manufactures would spring for Professional editions of Windows rather than just Home. Pros... - Amazing CPU horsepower - High end GPU capable of driving 3 4K external displays usually without issue unless the GPU is doing intensive processing -Fantastic keyboard and RGB lighting -- Unlike that other well known gaming brand that seems to have lost their way over the last few years somehow, this RGB is actually RGB rather than the what seem to be cheaper RGB keyboards they are using in their devices that seem to resemble more of a pastal coloring tone than true RGB (Red, Green, Blue) coloring. Looks like I may have found my new favorite laptop brand-name after going through several of the other brand-name gaming laptops over the past several years. Seems like their quality is going down while their prices are soaring. No thank you! I will find some brand that has quality on the up and up with lower prices! Overall, this model is a winner from the two weeks of time I have been playing with it. Aesthetics are great! Performance is good! Touchpad feels great! Keyboard feels great to type on but a full mechanical keyboard would have been sweet. Perhaps the only real bad thing about my purchase of this otherwise fantastic gaming laptop is none other than a sale tactic Best Buy has done that makes no sense at all to me. Best Buy has totally made me feel quite bad about this purchase because although I got this one for a great price and $560 on sale at the time (it was really only $450 on sale based on the manufacturer's retail pricing for this model, however), what do they do just a tad over one week after my purchase? They place the premium configuration of this same model on sale for a whopping $1000 off bring the cost of that down to a much better deal than this laptop at the time. The premium configuration includes a 4K Mini LED display, 64 GB of DDR5 RAM, 2 TB NVME Storage, and an RTX 5090 GPU. All that for only $960 more than the sale price of the QHD+, 32GB RAM, 1TB NVME, RTX 5080. I knew about the 4K display model and I really would have preferred to have bought this instead except I am in no paying over $3500 for any laptop. So, when Best Buy places the 4K configuration on sale for a whopping $1000 no more than 1 week and 2 days after my initial purchase, I was miffed. I am thinking about returning my initial purchase (the QHD+) one to get the 4K display model with the RTX 5090 GPU and 64GB of RAM configuration of this otherwise solid laptop. Best Buy, you just keep shooting yourselves in the foot with these sales you keep running having to deal with reselling "returned" purchases because you go do something like this that makes the customer unhappy with their purchase.

I purchased this laptop for my son who is planning to be an engineering student next fall. He selected it because he wants performance and a larger screen. Be aware that it is large, heavy, and loud (when under heavy use). I'm giving 5 stars because all of that information was disclosed in the product description and my son is very happy with the performance. It plays games and handles all tasks flawlessly thus far.

This has been an excellent choice for my new gaming device for home and away. The RTX 5080 GPU provides high speeds for games and heavy tasks. Because the hardware is top-tier, this laptop should remain capable for several years without needing an upgrade. The 18-inch screen is sharp and clear. The high refresh rate makes motion look fluid, which is helpful for fast-paced gaming and for content creation. If I had to provide a single negative, it'd be that thanks to the GPU and CPU combination, the power supply needed for this is quite a beast; but for the quality of the product, it's worth it.

Great and fast computer! We do some intense CAD work and have found this computer excellent, and it definitely meets our needs. The speed and processing capacity are awesome. The large display is great when we have to travel and are away from our large monitors.

Used to steer away from Acer but wanted a decently priced 9 w/ discrete GPU and found reviews were marking this as fairly well done. It has been fine with exception to its software and it runs a lot of it. I took some time and uninstalled what wasn't needed for hardware and on the hardware end I manually stopped/removed anything else not needed for the hardware. It took some trial and error as there are no write-ups on this but it worked by the end and got rid of the bloat. You have to keep its main Predator software to allow for adjustments and everything should show under there if you did it right. Also supports 3 4K externals with laptop screen and without a problem, all off of the discreet GPU. Didn't use dock but have monitors that have DP (type C) in and daisy chain to another monitor. Tried some TB3 docks I had laying around for Dell and Lenovo but they acted a bit buggy.

Even under only a 10% load the cpu is hitting 100 degrees Celsius. It's cooking itself because thermal paste may not have been applied at the factory or the heat pipes are broken. Sent it back to the manufacturer and they did not check for the problem I indicated and sent it back unrepaired. All of this is after the first one we bought had to be returned due to it being unrepairable because of a broken power port. Don't bother purchasing thi and stay away from the brand. .

came with a package of 5 parts that needed to be installed inside the laptop. A laptop should be ready to go, not need some assembly. Been using an old version of this and have been happy with it, but it came ready to use.

Love the computer. But since the battery life is bad, my only hope was that it could be charged via usb c. In a way, it does. It charges, but only while the computer is off.

Dear Clarysse,
This system is equipped with high-performance hardware that demands substantial power to operate at full capacity. To meet these requirements, it includes a 400W AC adapter — significantly more powerful than what most laptops typically use.
Although the computer features a USB-C port, USB-C charging alone cannot provide enough power to run the system and charge the battery simultaneously. USB-C charging is supported when the system is powered off, but for optimal performance, we recommend using the included AC adapter.
Regards,
Acer America
