games look great, play great, but do not sound great. I had to send the laptop in to fix the key board because a key is already loose. i got a great deal on the laptop so dont regret buying it but not a fan of the hardware issues

Got this laptop back in August 2024. For awhile, it worked great, and I loved it. However, after not even a year, the laptop is failing. Games are crashing, giving memory errors, the laptop overheats and will regularly reach 100C even with a cooling pad and fans on. Eventually got the blue screen of death. Currently sending it to acer now. I suspect the Intel processor is unstable and failing, which is a known issue. I would not buy this laptop until Acer and Intel figure things out and can provide updates that will allow this laptop to manage its resources appropriately and not burn itself out.

I personally think it's worth it I was going to go for a alienware laptop but was told I could get something better for the same price

I regretted this purchase within a week of getting it. The system itself is fine. It runs well, the graphics are good and I was able to get everything up and running without much hassle. However, it doesn't matter how well the system works if you can't use it because the power cord won't stay plugged in. The internal part that is supposed to hold the cord in stopped working in less than a week. The cord no longer "clicked" in, and just fell out. For what you pay for this laptop, you definitely should not have to pay even more to pack and ship it away for repair, especially when you've only had it for days. After looking into it, this is a common enough problem that I can't consider this a case of simple bad luck on my part. I recommend avoiding this laptop, get something more reliable and less infuriating!

Great laptop but I would recommend getting a pc if you looking for an A+ performance.

Laptops usually suck, ACER is also usually not a good brand for it, just go for a MacBook or ASUS and you’ll be fine

Purchased my first ever pc was going to get a Alienware but saw this laptop comes with a free game BLACK MYTH: WUKONG GEFORCE RTX 40 SERIES BUNDLE. Bought this laptop july 28th and its now August 7th and still no game code. All the agents wont help me horrible support. Will not be buying from bestbuy again.

This computer is a piece of garbage. I bought it thinking it would work for five years; it started to fail after 6 months. I'd bought it for programming because I wanted a powerful machine to run VMs and AI. I got a frankenstein's monster of parts that don't quite work together. It had problems with the charger from the start. The volume would randomly increase and decrease, sometimes nearly disappearing. The machine would randomly stall and turn black when doing simple things like browsing the internet. Finally the machine wouldn't charge at all, and I had to pay someone to transfer material from it that I needed to finish my master's degree. You might be lucky and get one that work's, but overall, it's a poorly designed machine that uses a voltage that's too high, heats up, and has drivers and parts that aren't completely compatible.

I spent more than a week trying to update everything and it still was very slow, Not even close to my 4-5 year old i7 laptop. I ended up returning it.

Waited a week for it to come in and it came in broke.

I got to say, I love this thing. The Acer - Predator Helios 18 Gaming Laptop - 18" is a beast. In more ways than one! The thing is large, it is heavy. You know you have some serious hardware here. Even the battery charger left me impressed with its heft. If someone tries to make off with your laptop, just whip the charger around like a medieval mace! My first impression was not a good one. The unit arrived with a hardware issue on the screen. If it was flexed and twisted a little (like, say, opening the lid) the screen had lines and blanked out. It was a bad cable connection from the mainboard to the screen. I didn't even get started on setting it up. As I dug into the box a little more, I came across the customer service card specifically for the Predator line. A short call later and I have a shipping label to send it off for repair. I didn't mind waiting because I wanted to experience this part of the service for my review. Fast forward about a week and I have a brand new one in my hands. They didn't want to make me wait for the repair itself. Now to get into it. My kid is a big Fortnite player and took to this opportunity with relish. We got everything all set up and installed a few games. The only downside noted here is the anemic 1TB m2 drive. I opened up the back and did not see any ports to add an additional drive, so you will be using a SSD via USB for best performance. The game played very smooth and no lag whatsoever. Teamed up with a controller, gaming trackball (yes, they are out there) and a headset, he was in nirvana. If you are looking at a serious gaming laptop, it is hard to beat these specs. However, for the price point, a much larger drive should have been standard. Storage is cheap compared to a lot of the other bells and whistles.

This is a awesome gaming laptop with a great refresh rate and amazing graphics. This laptop plays games super smooth with no lag and it also has a quiet fan noise not loud at all. I upgraded from a alienware laptop because the alienware was a bad choice because the fan was so loud and games keep crashing on there so thats why I recommend this predator over alienware.
