Great Gaming Computer & Good for College Too

I got this for my son at college who is a computer science major. His 2 in one laptop screen cracked so this is all he has right now to use in class. He likes it a lot. I told him we can get him another 2-in-1 but he said this is working fine for now. I was worried it would be too heavy for him to carry but he is fine carrying it in his school backpack bag.

I need a portable gaming laptop, the price for what you get is phenomenally awesome, thank you ACER! Here are the Pros: 240 OLED not 165 (looks awesome!); Awesome CPU & GPU combo; 32GB RAM at 6400MHz; Slim profile with free sleeve bag; DTX Ultra speakers; Cool software with one touch settings; and the Price at this specs is unbeatable. Now the Cons: Heat- make sure you set the performance or gaming when gaming; 2nd M.2 needs slim heatsink for thermals or put thermal pads to aluminum back; very complicated included software- learning curve needed (just to turn off RGB keyboard, loading predator sound, and BIOS access) and USB-C charging not working- need to use bulky included charger. Overall this is the best laptop at $2K below!

I’m really impressed with this laptop. It’s fast, quiet, and handles everything I throw at it—from everyday work to gaming. The screen quality is sharp and bright, the keyboard feels great, and the overall build is solid. Setup was easy and it’s been running smoothly since day one. Definitely worth the purchase.

Good computer, just the battery seems to not be as long as I had hoped for. The screen is nice. Sounds well, has good adjustment, and is very easy to work with.

Decent laptop and provides pretty much all services you'd need it for including heavy gaming. As with all gaming laptops it can get very hot.

This purchase was for my 17yo daughter. While not a huge gamer, she likes them to look and play well when she does. I wanted a powerful laptop for gaming as well as one that she could use for college next fall. I did not give it 5 stars for a couple reasons, for the power it has, I don’t think it has adequate cooling. It sits on a cooling dock with one 120mm and four 40mm fans and still is quite warm when playing Minecraft on max or Hogwarts Legacy. Other than the known annoyance of not being able to reduce the refresh rate on the internal screen so it uses less battery unplugged the only other display related issue is even though it is connected to the correct display port. It sometimes will not either recognize the external display which is a 34” curved Acer Nitro monitor when awaking from sleep or from powered off or it will not connect to the Nvidia GPU and it requires being unplugged and plugged in to connect the monitor to the GPU in the NVIDIA app. Graphics are amazing and when the Acer Nitro headset is connected with the 3.5mm cable they sound better than my Corsair Virtuoso Max or my old Logitec Pros. Both were 5 times the cost of the Acer headset. So in closing I would definitely recommend this laptop. I bought this Predator 16S for two main reasons, the great price and the 5070ti 12gb GPU. The i9 250x is a big plus as well but one reason it runs so warm! Anyway, I hope this helps!!

Awesome oled display! Locked refresh rate of 240hz but plays gta 5 and fallout 4 well enough although it jas affected some fallout 4 gameplay, it gets real hot even with a cooling pad after multiple hours of gaming. I also keep having windows error issues where ive had to reinstall twice, Probably wouldnt buy it again.

The only downside to this laptop is that you cannot change the refresh rate on the screen, but as someone who always has it plugged in, it is perfect for me. I use it everyday and have had no issues so far, the GPU can run any game no problem and the AI CPU is a very cool and new feature that I am still getting used to. The AI CPU has helped me a lot with online school and helps me get a better understanding of the topics I read. Overall I would definitely recommend this product to you as it is the best "bang for your buck" coming with a 5070ti and a H-275X.

Light weight, mobile, power, comfortable, beautiful HDR OLED display. For less than two grand, its 100% worth the price. Though you should always bring a charger on you, gaming laptops battery don't last very long.

The laptop is fabulous for those of us looking for the most power to our buck. Plays modern games flawlessly and the oled is beautiful. Please know- The laptop needs to be plugged in to perform in gaming. I personally expect this but see people complain. Battery lasts a few hours doing regular tasks, but of course youll have to have wall power if you want wall power level performance. Speakers arent great. Dont sound bad, i wear headphones sometimes anyway, but they arent gonna win any sound awards, for sure. Again, doesnt bother me, but just dont go into it expecting 3D dolby surround (haha) But mostly besides these small caveats, you cant find a better computer for a better price right now. Definitely dont regret at all.

powerful gaming laptop built for gamers who want strong performance without jumping to ultra-premium prices. It’s designed to handle modern games, competitive esports titles, and heavy multitasking with ease. really shines when it comes to performance. Powered by Intel Core i9 processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPUs, it delivers smooth gameplay at high to ultra settings. Games like Dota 2, Valorant, Call of Duty, and Cyberpunk 2077 run well, especially when paired with DLSS on RTX models.Wowowoww ❤️

This laptop is very powerful, the previous laptop i used was a ryzen7 and 3050 and after the upgrade i see a huge spike in the performance. I used to get around 200fps while gaming on old laptop and this one gives me 1200fps in the same game.

This is my first time buying a gaming laptop and so far I am absolutely in love. The screen quality is great, gaming feels smooth and overall it's an excellent choice for portability and performance. Battery seems to be a problem for some users, although I am usually always plugged and limiting charge up to 80% to save battery life. Also it gets hot underneath, so if you tend to put your laptop on your legs, you'll feel it, although it's not unbearable hot... unless you're naked lol.

I bought this laptop to be able to work on the go and also game. It has delivered in both scenarios perfectly. It had some issues with drivers in the beginning but I fixed that fairly easily. Great laptop, would recommend. Even more if you but it with a discount.

This Predator literally changed my workflow. I use it every day - work, media, gaming and it handles everything with zero issues. The display is sharp, the keyboard feels great, and the system stays cool even during heavy use. Fast startup, fast loading, no lag anywhere. I didn’t expect this level of stability for the price. If you’re looking for something powerful and dependable, this is the one I’d recommend without hesitation.

I have been using the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S AI mostly for machine learning like KAN LSTM and RNN. Overall it is a strong laptop. It feels fast and handles heavy workloads without much trouble. The OLED 240Hz screen also looks great and is nice to work on. The main issues are heat and battery life. During long training sessions it gets hot and the fans get loud. The battery does not last long especially during heavy work so I usually keep it plugged in.

    Specs Promise, Software Disappoints

I’ve used the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S daily for the past two weeks, and while it has some impressive features on paper, my experience has been underwhelming in key areas — especially when it comes to performance and software control. ⸻ What I Liked • Sleek, modern design: This is hands down the best part. The Helios Neo 16S looks futuristic, premium, and thin for a gaming laptop. It feels like something from 2025 — in a good way. • Surprisingly good cooling: Thermals are actually well-managed. Under stress, the laptop stays cool without overheating. Acer did a great job with the cooling system here. ⸻ What Let Me Down • Predator Sense is very limited: Compared to ASUS Armoury Crate or Lenovo Vantage, Acer’s Predator Sense feels outdated. There’s no GPU tuning, no manual overclocking, no advanced fan curve settings — nothing to help squeeze more performance out of the machine. • Locked-down GPU: I ran Steal Nomad benchmark multiple times and no matter what I tried (including external apps like MSI Afterburner), I couldn’t unlock better performance. It feels like the GPU (5070 Ti) is locked down by Acer’s firmware or software. • Performance issues: • I experienced small freezes and glitches, especially when closing games or connecting to my Samsung monitor — things like screen flickering and display kick-backs. • What really shocked me: my older Lenovo Legion with a 4060 performed better in RDR2. Smoother gameplay, higher FPS, and just a better experience overall — despite having lower specs on paper. ⸻ Tech Updates I Tried I fully updated the system: BIOS, GPU drivers, Windows, Predator Sense — everything. Still, the performance didn’t improve. It feels like the laptop’s full potential is being held back by Acer’s software limits, and that’s a shame given how good the hardware could be. ⸻ Conclusion The Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S looks great and stays cool, but it feels like a sports car with the engine capped. The limitations in software control, locked-down GPU performance, and weird system bugs really took away from the experience. It promises flagship-level specs, but in actual gaming and benchmarking, it underdelivers. I wanted to love this laptop — and I still think the design and cooling are excellent — but the lack of tuning options and inconsistent performance are deal-breakers for me.
