    Defective out of the box and terrible support

    I bought this refurbished Acer laptop expecting it to be in “Excellent” condition, but it arrived with a defective AC adapter. Right out of the box, I couldn’t reliably charge or use the laptop, which completely defeats the purpose of buying it. What makes this worse is the experience at Best Buy, where I purchased it through their online shop. When I went in to exchange the faulty adapter, they refused to replace it. Instead, the only option they offered was for me to buy another charger — a generic universal adapter for $50. That’s ridiculous. I shouldn’t have to pay extra to fix a problem that existed when the product was sold. Between the defective accessory and the lack of support, this has been a frustrating experience. “Refurbished Excellent” clearly doesn’t mean what it should, and Best Buy’s handling of the issue was disappointing. I would not recommend this laptop or the refurbished process here unless you’re prepared to deal with problems and additional costs.
