Customers value the SA230 23" IPS LED FHD Monitor's excellent picture quality, affordable price, and ease of use. Many appreciate the vibrant colors and good size, along with the convenient HDMI connectivity. However, some find the stand to be lacking in adjustability and the absence of built-in speakers to be a drawback. A few users also noted limitations with the refresh rate and tilt functionality.

Great display in a thin and light design

Bottom line: The Acer SA230 is a great display that looks good at any angle.
*** Note: the SA230 bi model does not include DVI input or speakers ***
Pros: Thin and light design, excellent and immersive display
Cons: AC power adapter, no VESA mounting option, round stand limits thin profile, settings menu a little clunky to operate
Review: I was surprised how thin and light the monitor is when I pulled it out of the box. The screen is extremely thin, and even the bottom quarter of the display that houses the connectors isn’t much thicker. The frame around the display is also very thin, which creates an immersive experience for your content.
The HD display itself is quite good. Colors are bright and vivid, and fast video motion looked particularly sharp. It’s also an IPS panel, so the images look great from a wide variety of viewing angles.
The thin and light design does come with a few trade-offs. First, the power cable is divided into two parts: a grounded, 3 prong cord and an AC adapter (pretty much what you get to power a laptop). I suppose the power supply was moved outside of the display housing to reduce the size, but it also means the setup isn’t as clean as when you just plug the power cord into the display. Second, the display is so thin, it does not support VESA mounting.
One design decision I found baffling is that the monitor has a round (circular) base. This requires much more depth on your desk than if the stand had been oval or wide-V shaped like some large screen televisions. In some ways, the stand negates the monitor’s thin profile.
Setup was simple, but the Quick Start instructions were a bit confusing, since they were written and illustrated for a model with DVI input and speakers. Additionally, I found the on screen control menu (accessed via buttons under the front right bezel) difficult to use, as I kept pushing the wrong buttons.

Great monitor, great price....

I purchased this monitor recently when it was on sale for only $99 - screaming deal for the quality, performance, and features. And actually, I purchased 2 (two). After using it for a few days, I could recommend it for the original list price of $159 also.
Out of the box, it was very easy to set up (VGA cord included, but not HDMI). Tools are not needed. It all snaps together and the main screw securing the base to the stand has a thumbscrew on it that was easy to use with my fingers. The monitors are very light but sturdy when set up. Pieces are good quality. Nothing jumped out at me as being too cheap or flimsy.
It was all plug and play. The “frameless” screen looks good. The picture is great for what I need .... mostly email and spreadsheets. Everything is crisp and clear regardless of the resolution. I did watch a few videos and the picture was very good. There’s a ton of fine tune adjustments for color, warmth, position, etc... to get the picture perfect. I was impressed with how easy it was to use the built in controls. While the buttons are underneath the edge of the screen, the screen displays the buttons labels and lines them up with the buttons underneath making adjustments very easy.
Definitely recommend this unit especially if you can find it on sale.

Great and thin monitor!

I really like this monitor, the picture quality is great and the bezels are super thin. It came packaged super safe, sandwiched between two Styrofoam pieces.
If you are looking for a multi monitor setup, these are great as the bezels are thin. My only gripe is that the monitor only supports tilt, that's it. Nothing like one of those aftermarket multi monitor arms can't solve.
Also, it didn't come with an HDMI cable, only vga (who uses those anymore?). Good thing I had a HDMI spare cable lying around. Other than that the image quality is crisp and its working great on my multimonitor setup. The monitor powers on fast too.

Great IPS Monitor

I have really enjoyed this monitor. Out of the box, the monitor looks great. At the top edge, the monitor is around a quarter of an inch thick. It has a good viewing angle and was plenty bright. The 4ms response time is great for games or netflix on the PC.
Potential drawbacks: The monitor only comes with a VGA cable in the box. VGA cables are bulky analog cables. If you want the monitor to look as it was intended, you need a digital HDMI cable. There is no display port or DVI input on the monitor. So HDMI is your only digital option.
The controls took me a bit to figure out. There's very little documentation to explain how to change brightness or other settings. A lot of the setting changes came down to trial and error. Out of the box, the unit is set too bright (all monitors are initially set too bright), but once I lowered the settings (set brightness closer to 50 and contrast up around 65, but I am still perfecting it) the visuals really looked great.
I really like this monitor and I can easily recommend it. Just make sure to buy an HDMI cable to go with it.

Solid Performer

Overall solid performing monitor. Bright and easy to set up too. This unit comes with only 3 parts (besides the cords). The base, the neck of the base and the monitor...that's it! I was able to assemble in less than 2 minutes. Another great feature of this monitor is the weight and width. This monitor is super light weight and less than an inch thick.
A couple super small cons about this monitor:
1 - Lack of plugs and angle of plugs. Only one VGA and one HDMI (does not come with HDMI cable). Also, the plug is sort of pokes out of the back, but nothing worth docking a rating for.
2 - The buttons on the underside do not have any labels. Nothing besides on screen prompts.
Aside from the above 2 little areas of improvement, I'd still give this a monitor a 5/5 ratin due to the overall ease of use, assemble and performance..

A budget monitor with good pic but lacking in text

The ACER SA230 is a 23" monitor that is a good value monitor for use as a secondary monitor or for a non-professional use monitor. The monitor itself is 23" and very thin and light. It's very basic and comes with one connector cord, a VGA connection but allows for use of HDMI and DVI as well if you supply the cable. It's very easy to setup with a non-adjustable stand that does not tilt or pan. The monitor is short and wide and will set that way on your table. If you don't like how it sits you will have to adjust it with a monitor stand just like in the earlier days of computing.
Using the monitor itself reveals that it has a very vivid picture with really good color reproduction by default. The graphics on this monitor really pop and it does have a really nice display. The first thing I loaded up was some pictures of pumpkins in a Windows theme and the image really did look good. The text however on the monitor at the default resolution of 1920x1080 can sometimes, depending upon the website, appear somewhat fuzzy or blurry. It's nothing that is going to render any text unreadable but long periods of reading could mean you could end up with some eye fatigue and/or a slight headache.
The menu system that the monitor uses is difficult to navigate and it took me quite a while to simply change some basic settings. I suppose I may have been spoiled by the excellent on-screen display of Viewsonic and Dell monitors but the entire process of just trying to change brightness on this monitor can be quite frustrating. One tip, keep a close eye on the screen near the bottom which will provide contextual help to navigation. There is also no explanation that I could find for some of the menu options or what they do. I could not find it in any onscreen help (there is none) nor could I find it in the sparse Acer manual which basically just tells you how to connect up the monitor and nothing else.
Now the big question is would I recommend this monitor? Well, I would recommend this to anyone who is just looking for a cheap monitor that has excellent visuals of graphics for movies, light web surfing, picture viewing, etc. This is a good monitor for the kids room, a second computer or just an extra monitor on a multiple monitor setup (which is how I will use this monitor). If you plan to do much reading on your monitor I would look for something with a bit more clarity. I cannot recommend this monitor to anyone as a primary monitor because of the issues with the fuzzy text at the default resolution. Honestly there may be some menu setting or some way to adjust Windows to help alleviate this but I have yet to find it and do not plan to search for it as the monitor will suit my purposes just fine as a monitor to display videos and other background entertainment while I use my primary monitor for reading.

I needed a monitor to connect to my laptop so when I'm working from home I can display two screens. This monitor works great and has a nice picture. The size of the screen is perfect and it fits nicely on my home desk. The only thing is I wish it has a stand that could go up and down. But other that that it's perfect! Especially for the money great price!

Simple but Good

This monitor seems very simple but the picture quality is fairly good. I like the small bevel, and the very slim profile - which makes the picture look larger and clearer. I hooked it up to a laptop and everything seemed very clear except the icons that were in the taskbar which seemed a bit fuzzy. Picture and video quality is great. It can be hooked up with VGA or HDMI. I would like to have had a DVI port as well. Also, this monitor can not be mounted on a dual monitor stand. But the stand it comes with is pretty sturdy and the sleek profile makes it look not cluttered on the desk. Overall, a good monitor.

I use Acer SA230 monitors for my home office. I tried one out and eventually expanded my monitor array to three of this model. Great picture quality, response rate, and easy to connect and set up.
About the only negative is that the height of the stands are slightly different between the units and each monitors sits 5 mm higher than the next.
Would recommend!

I needed another monitor for working from home. The dual VGA and HDMI inputs were ideal for always keeping my desktop and laptop connected simultaneously. I purchased the monitor on sale for $109.99 and for the price, size, sleek design, and overall quality I couldn't pass up this deal! If you find this monitor at this price, don't hesitate to buy!!

I purchased two of these monitors bc I am a mortgage loan processor and I need to have two screens at a time to compare documents. I have a Surface Pro 2017 and I have it connected via MS Surface Dock so now I have 3 screens vs. 2 when I'm at work. These monitors provide me with enough real estate that I can do my job at home without any problem. I haven't used any other monitors so I don't really know the difference however, the only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't have an audio jack or speakers built into the monitors but I guess all monitors are created equal. I absolutely love my monitors but it's not that easy to use. If you're looking for an inexpensive monitor for your home setup then you should get these because of the cost and it is really clear and perfect for what I use it for.

Awesome, wish I'd bought two! Light weight, functional, great images, color, size, zoom, etc. very mobile.
Con: stand base is round and not fully compatible with all settings I've had to use it in when moving to temporary residences/set ups, etc.

I bought this monitor near the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and just before i began working from home. This has been a great buy and I bought it at just the right time! The salea price was $95 which is a really low price for a new monitor. The quality is great and I have this Acer monitor as my main monitor since is a little larger than the 2 other Dell monitors that were supplied by my employer. I would definitely recommend this item.

Especially for the price point the monitor is beautiful. It’s got great image quality, and maintains that quality with a thin screen and sleek appearance. It might not be the tippy top quality for professional gamers or those looking for the highest of definition pictures, but I would place this as a high quality mid grade monitor. Definitely worth the upgrade from my 6 year old HP monitor, I’ve had no video lag at all and very nice colors. VGA and HDMI hookups available. Very satisfied with this purchase.

GOOD ALL PURPOSE MONITOR. I USE A DOUBLE MONITOR SET UP FOR MY DESKTOP AND THIS IS MY 2ND ACER MONITOR. TRIED ANOTHER BRAND AND JUST DID NOT HAVE THE BANG FOR THE BUCK I WAS LOOKING FOR AND KNEW ACER PROVIDED.
I DO NOT GAME OR ANYTHING BUT FOR EMAILS, WEB BROWSING, MS OFFICE WORD AND EXCEL IT PROVIDES GREAT FUNCTION.
THERE IS LESS GLARE ON THIS MONITOR THAN MY OTHER ACER SO THIS IS PRIMARY MONITOR. TO BE ABLE TO HAVE (2) 23 INCH MONITORS SIDE BY SIDE IS AWESOME NO MATTER WHAT I AT DOING.

I installed my monitor and founded easy to install. The picture is clear and the instructions are self explanatory. I suggest outing a USB cable with the monitor as one package so we do not have to search and purchase it separately. The delivery was timely and the whole process from ordering to installation was excellent. The person at the store did an excellent job offering me the different option even though at this time of the year the place was packed with people, I am an old customer and will continue to purchase my electronics from TV to computers, printers , camera equipments from Best Buy

I bought this on a whim since I figured writing papers on a laptop screen gets pretty tedious when your switching back and forth from applications and tabs. Oddly enough, my best friend from high school sold this to me in-store (Shout out to Marcus). It really gets the job done, and with a wireless mouse and keyboard it really makes up for the desktop I don't have. It's light weight and easy to assemble. It has great resolution for occasional gamers. Played Overwatch on it--I still suck but the picture looks great!

Good for the price. Nice image and easy srtting adjustment. I bought 2, but a little disappointed that the color display was dramatically off between the twoonitors, even in the presets. I was eventually able to get them close enough, and I guess for the price I should expect a little lesser attention to these type of details. Still satisfied with the purchase for the price I paid, thus the 4 stars.

Picked this up in a Deal of the Day so it was a great value. It is well made but not sturdy. The picture is contrasty and sharp. My only complaint is that the menu buttons are placed on the underside of the panel. There are no labels on the front to guide you to each button so it is be feel only. I do not need to make adjustments to the picture once set, but toggling between 2 displays, HDMI and DP is a struggle
