Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the responsive touch screen and the ease of use of the Switch One 10. Many appreciate its portability, sufficient battery life, and the convenient size. However, some users find the limited RAM and storage to be insufficient, and the sound quality could be improved.

Works for what I need. Only drawback to me is it is slow loading apps and programs. Decent laptop for casual use.

This is another laptop that I bought in a bind after another had died. It was definitely underpowered and had pre-installed software that I had to put a lot of effort into removing.

You have to understand what this device will do for you. If you are looking for a device that will run intensive programs and games or do video / photo editing on a high end basis, this is probably not the device for you. However, if you want a Windows 10 based device that is solidly built, runs smoothly and has a decent screen, this device will fit the bill. This device is solidly built and I found myself reaching for it for quick web browsing or email. It will also run netflix and other streaming services well. I would like to have seen this shipped with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage but at this price, this is what is common. Assess your needs and if you what you are looking for can primarily be done in the Windows 10 platform (meaning few outside installed applications) then this is a good device.

We bought this for our 4 year old son. He loves it! It's versatile and very user friendly. Being able to change the direction of the screen and turn it into a tablet makes it easier for him to play his games and do learning.

Good device, but the build quality raises concerns

The Acer One 10 has potential, but the build quality raises some concerns. Let me start by explaining what this device is: The Acer One 10 is a budget 2 in 1 convertible tablet / netbook. It comes with 32GB of storage (around 18.2 GB are free out of the box), 2GB of RAM, and has a 10 inch 1280x800 screen. If desktops are the SUVs / pickup trucks of the computer world, and laptops are the sedans / station wagons of the computer world; then these would be the motorcycles / dirtbikes of the computer world. These devices are designed for portability and cost efficiency. You wouldn’t pick up the kids from soccer practice using a motorcycle or load up on groceries using just a dirt bike. In the same way, these devices are not designed for gaming, heavy photo or video editing, or any other highly intensive tasks. These tasks are better suited for desktops and laptops. These types of devices are best suited as companion devices for people who need something small and highly portable but have access to more traditional desktops or laptops for more intensive computer tasks. This type of device is ideal for commuters or students who need something small and portable for the classroom. In terms of this particular device, I found it to be well designed but poorly engineered. The aluminum back is attractive and professional looking. The keyboard (while small) is well spaced and very pleasant to type on. The touchpad is surprisingly spacious and responds to gestures very well. And finally, the screen is sharp and shows details well (albeit with a noticeable bluish tint). Battery life is terrific at around 7-8 hours of steady use at 100% brightness. Unfortunately, the build quality raises some serious red flags. My experiences may just be random flukes, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t share them. The first unit I received booted up exactly twice before dying completely. It would not take a charge, and none of the indicator lights would so much as blink. Best Buy was great about sending out a replacement unit, and I commend their excellent customer service. The second unit I received seems to be charging and working as normal, but the micro-SD slot on it won’t hold a card. The spring action is too strong, and the card pops right out. This is in direct contrast to the first unit which held onto the card far too tightly and wouldn’t let it go. The keyboard on the first unit also displayed a disturbing amount of flex. This was particularly noticeable when undocking the tablet portion. The replacement unit doesn’t seem to have nearly as much flex to it. 32 GB of onboard storage is adequate space for the operating system, periodic Windows updates, your web browser of choice, and your antivirus of choice. I wouldn’t recommend installing anything else to it if you can avoid it. I would recommend pairing this device with a high capacity micro-SD card, USB thumb drive, or other external hard drive and installing your programs to that. Most modern programs allow you to choose an alternate install location when installing them. By default, this is the “C” drive (the 32 GB of built in storage), but if you click browse you can usually direct it to install to a SD card or thumbdrive instead. Just note that if you remove said SD card or thumbdrive you won’t be able to access the programs you’ve installed on them until you plug them back in. If you keep a micro-SD card inserted full-time, then I would also recommend changing the locations of your “documents,” “downloads,” “pictures,” and “music” folders (and any other library folders that you tend to fill up). This will make it so that the contents of these folders are stored on your micro-SD card instead of your tablet’s on-board storage. This can be done by right clicking them from “This PC,” selecting “properties,” clicking the “location” tab, and then browsing to the micro-SD card. This will help prevent you from using up your 32 GB of on-board storage and allow you to better utilize the additional space your micro-SD card offers. Again though, you'll lose access to these files if you remove your micro-SD card. I think that this is an excellent device, but I would caution that the build quality may not be quite where it should be.

I've had this product for about 2 months now and it works fine. Battery life is around 2 hours and it's not the fastest when it comes to internet browsing. Overal not bad but could be so much better

This doesn't have enough RAM to make it worth the cool concept. It would be great if we could swap out the memory without it being too much of a hassle.

Not powerful, but gets the job done, and has all the power of full windows 10. Works well, travels well, and makes a great kitchen companion, so I am very pleased with the purchase!

It’s slowed down quite a bit since I first got it. It could benefit from a larger hard drive. It works for what I needed though.
