    Patience Rewarded!

I bought this gaming Monitor 2 weeks ago to mate with my PowerColor AMD Radeon 580 8GB OC GPU and AMD 8350 CPU Gaming rig with 24 GB of system memory. I had been using the Dell 2340 monitor (21") until the upgrades in my PC. I have to confess, that out of the box, this monitor is awful/dreadful and will sorely disappoint those with just Plug & Play bias. OOB the colors are washed out, dreary, too bright and gray and stunningly dull. Image quality is not sharp. And all settings are nulled to peak average values. I was close to taking it back to BB 2-3 times over the past week until I decided to just wade in and calibrate it. AND THIS MONITOR LOVES TO BE CALIBRATED! I first established a reasonable Base User profile in the Acer settings. I then went into Windows 10 neat little Calibration program and refined the settings. Lastly I went into the AMD 580 Crimson settings and dialed in the detail. And Holy Moley did this thing pop to life! The AMD Crimson custom settings took it way over the top into epic graphic image range. this monitor can take everything the 580 throws into it. And spit out unbelievable beautiful and detailed images. And gaming at 144 HZ is just awesome and butter smooth with Freesync! I loaded 'Rise Of The Tomb Raider' and played it on the highest setting. I got consistent 80-120 FPS @ 120-144 HZ with zero screen tearing. And the gaming graphics/physics were just spectacularly rendered. So I am a happy camper now. But you're going to have to really tweak this monitor to love it. That is par for the course for any "gaming" monitor. But if you put in the short amount of time needed to get it right; you will be richly rewarded. Out of the Box I would rate this monitor as a 1 Star graphically. After Calibration it is a strong 5 star plus. This is a great product. But it may disappoint a person who buys it expecting Plug & Play boilerplate readiness like a HDTV. Oh yeah-----once tweaked and gamed at 144 hz; you'll never want to game on another display. And 27" is the perfect desktop gaming size (from 2'-3' away).

I purchased 2 of these as a set for my production office. for dual monitor workspace. The main monitor sometimes is slow, my Windows Start menu appears half way for a second sometimes. When they go to sleep, and I wake them up my programs are all shifted to the main monitor, I have to re-organize my workspace. just to clarify this did not happen with my old 2 monitors (Gateway 2401FHD 1920x1200 10 years old) I love that I can mount them on my vesa pole stand and they are not too heavy. Color tint of the panels is way off, not consistent with each other, this is not color settings believe me I tried. the TN Panel is a different color all together (see Picture). I really want to love these, but I cannot live with the Color differences between the 2. It's like 2 totally different monitors, not even close. If I had only one of these I might not have noticed it Also at the time of this writing, these monitors are not on the Nvidia list of Certified G-Sync monitor. Yes as of Jan 15 Geforce Graphic cards work with Freesync monitors, but some of these freeSync monitors Nvidia blames are sloppy built FreeSync and G-Sync will not correctly display all frames. it gets choppy& artifacting (gaming). As you can in the pictures the colors off really bad. too many reasons for me to keep these I will be returning them soon. I would still recommend these to someone if you are only getting 1, and not plan on using G-Sync which as of this writing is probably not the case anyway. I am returning mainly due to dead pixels, and color issue. Pros: Price Point for 1080P is great No bezel on top and sides 144HZ refresh rate FreeSync 400 cdm/brightness Display port connection USB3 hub built in Speakers on board Cons: Panel Color discrepancies (See Pictures) 2 Dead pixels on one monitor Speakers really not good, but work Will not certify with Nvidia's G-Sync driver release.

My product is defective and Acer doesn't care

I bought this product from Best Buy a few months ago to use as a home office but I didn't get around to setting it up until 3 weeks after purchase. I couldn't get it to work initially and thought it was an issue with the cord or adapter so I bought another adapter with 5 star reviews. I still couldn't get it to work so I had a tech specialist come over who told me that the monitor was defective because the cord/adapter worked fine with the TV in my house as well as my monitor at work but wouldn't connect to this monitor. I brought the monitor back to the Best Buy store where I purchased it and the Geek Squad told me that after 14 days "there is nothing they can do". The fact that the return policy on these products is 14 days is absolutely absurd and should have been a warning to not buy from here. They then told me to call the manufacturer and see if they can help me. I called Acer and they told me that they can't guarantee their products to work with adapters so there is nothing they can do. This cord + adapter works perfectly with Sony & Dell devices it was only with this monitor that it didn't work. They said I could send in the product at my expense but if it worked with any laptop with just an HDMI cord then it would be deemed to be working fine and they would send it back to me. I had two tech specialists come to my apartment and tell me that this product was defective and it is certainly not worth the money to send back to them. This product is awful. Don't buy it.

High display lag or random black screen

High lag without FreeSync: When monitor see it as normal mode and not freesync, I see higher input lag and minor stutters. The stutter is worst in 50 Hz refresh rate. Highly noticeable when using HDMI splitter with HDCP disabled to compare high lag and stutter Acer XF270H-B, and minimal lag no stutter Acer S230HL. This high lag problem is a poor experience for video game consoles that do not support FreeSync. Random black screen with Freesync 144 Hz: About 4 times every hour, random black screen happens while in games bouncing around 50 fps to 144 fps. Happens on both HDMI AMD 2400g integrated and HDMI RX 550 graphics card, picture comes back in 4 seconds. DisplayPort on graphics card, FreeSync goes to static for a millisecond, black screen, no signal, and locks up my computer with my other monitor show a frozen task manager, no mouse pointer, nothing responds. Press reset button on PC and everything starts working, but lost some progress in games. This lockup problem might be limited to using DisplayPort to DisplayPort with FreeSync enabled. My DisplayPort to DVI active adapter have no lockup problems. DVI FreeSync fails on integrated graphics. Limited to 1080p 60 Hz by DVI, but black screen every time FPS drops to less then 60. Probably because this monitor only show this as normal mode and not FreeSync. Poor monitor options: Cannot change Over Drive while in FreeSync mode, when Extreme over drive continue to work. DDC/CI off causes FreeSync not supported. When using HDMI splitter, computer always show Freesync support, and MPRT have some flicker. MPRT automatically turns off in 60Hz, and stays off in 144 Hz. Need to manually turn MPRT back on. Inaccurate OSD refresh rate number in 144 Hz mode never show 142 or 143 when I limit game's FPS to 142. The good: I then used Custom resolution utility to change FreeSync to a smaller range of 75-148. This smaller range have completely stopped all black screen problem using HDMI connection, without having to fully disable FreeSync. I was able to raise the refresh rate to 148Hz as a nice bonus. The OSD inaccurate refresh rate shows up again, now constantly bouncing between 147 and 149.

After a week of Gaming, Web Design and Surfing the web, I can tell you this monitor is great. However, I would like to talk to you about the viewing angles, color reproduction and Freesync 1. Freesync 1 seems worthless. Does very little. Freesync 2 on the other hand is where it's at. Xbox One X does nothing with Freesync 1, it needs Freesync 2. This monitor did allow the Xbox One X to set the refresh rate to 120hz. However, with it on or off I could not see a difference. I then connected my old Asus VG278HE 144hz, it has no Freesync yet seems to perform smoother. Color richness, accuracy and reproduction was far better. On the new Acer I ran Team Fortress 2, Half-Life 2, PUBG, Black Ops 2 on the PC. My experience was not better than my old Asus VG278HE. Color Reproduction was not good for me. Blacks were washed out, contrast and Brightness seemed to do very little. I realize this is a "gaming" monitor and we shouldn't expect 100% sRGB accuracy, but this is the worst I have seen in this price range even with the $50 discount. On your PC you would need a Freesync 2 monitor at 144hz and a Freesync 2 video card like the RX 580 etc to get that smooth buttery gaming experience you are looking for. The viewing angles for me were the worst thing about this monitor. If I needed to see a certain part of an image or a web page I would find myself leaning my head side to side just to get a better angle. I was also always adjusting and tilting it. With all that negativity don't get me wrong. Someone out there will love this monitor. For me, I may need to spend a few more dollars. Maybe a 24'', IPS, Glossy, 144hz, Freesync 2, Fully adjustable height and Tilt.

Good budget monitor for 1080p gaming

I bought this monitor to pair it with my gtx 1070 pc. I chose a 1080p monitor so I could play AAA games at high framerates and high/ultra settings. The stand is very nice with height and tilt adjustable features. As for the monitor, I had to return the first one because it had a dead pixel. The replacement is working fine. The only thing somewhat negative I will say is that color reproduction leaves something to be desired for but this is a TN panel so it's not really surprising. Yes the viewing angles are bad but really, who doesn't sit directly in front of their monitor? Viewing angles do not sell me on monitors. It's nice that it has a small speaker built in as I haven't purchased a speaker set yet. I'm pushing 80- 120 fps on newer games and 144fps on previous gen games with my gtx 1070 card. Even though I can't use free sync I haven't seen any torn frames at this high of a refresh rate. Overall I would recommend this monitor as I got it on sale for $200. My final thoughts : I am someone who is really big into picture quality and I wanted an IPS panel. However, no one makes a 1080p 144hz IPS panel. You have to step up to a 1440p monitor to get that but my gpu isn't powerful enough to push high frame rates at 1440p. For the ULTIMATE 60FPS experience I hooked my pc up to my old TV with HDR. WOW, it destroys ever monitor when it comes to picture quality.

To start off, this monitor has amazing colors. Anybody complaining about that hasn't adjusted/played around with the settings. Spent 20-30 minutes messing with the panel controls and nvidia color settings and now it looks PERFECT. This monitor IS SUPPORTED by G-Sync now with latest drivers! I also have a G-Sync 1440p Dell and I can't tell the difference between the two (G-Sync wise). I got this on a deal for around $200 on Black Friday and it was well worth it. I'd spend the retail price for this beast! As of 3/1/2019, one of the best budget free sync (thats supported by G-Sync also) monitors out there! P.S. : The black in the top left is the background not the monitor LOL didn't notice while taking the pics. Don't want anyone to think its dead pixels or anything

I had a custom high end gaming pc built and I went into Best Buy initially to look at a 2k monitor but needed to stay under a $300 budget (most of my cash went towards the build). As we all know, 2k-4k monitors aren't really cheap especially when paired with g-sync. I was reading about free sync and thought I'd look into it as well. I came across this Acer monitor. I was hesitant at first and I remember reading that games run better on 1080p with less stress on your graphics card. I bit the bullet and purchased this Acer. Its my first Acer and it does not disappoint. Its screen quality is amazing and playing games on it has been fluid. My only complaint is the speakers they advertise are not good at all. You can barely hear them. Purchase a pair of speakers or a soundbar. You will be happy with the near bezel-less display. Id say if you have $300 its worth every penny. And now that its on sale for $230 then you are really coming on top.

Gave it a week before returning...

I am a hard core gamer and the stats/price clearly made this monitor an easy choice for me (ryzen/radeon build). Once you try a 144hz monitor, you will NEVER go back to anything less. The stand is very sturdy with excellent adjustability, and the screen size is perfect. The aiming reticle is a pretty useless novelty though- at least for me. Here's why I returned it- my monitor developed 7 stuck pixels (had 2 dead ones right off the bat) directly in my line of sight. I did try several programs to remove the stuck pixels with no luck (even swapped multiple display port cables). However, the reason I didn't bother getting another one is because after over a week of trying multiple settings and even using calibration software, I simply could not get a decent picture quality. My monitor always seemed to have a horrible white wash no matter what setting I tried. Also, trying to get a nice balance of sharpness, contrast, and brightness is impossible with this monitor thanks to limited picture adjustment settings. Yes, I am aware this is a TN panel, but I have had several other TN panels, that when properly calibrated, resulted in a picture quality that was almost as good as an IPS panel. 2 stars for a great stand and quality design. I would definitely wait for this monitor to be on sale!

This monitor is great option for Gamers. It has really good quality and a 27 inch 144hz 1080p monitor in my opinion is the sweet spot for gamers. The really big reason I got this was for gaming in college but I wanted it to be used as an external monitor for my phone (S8) and for my laptop Yoga 920. It unfortunetly after buying is not able to display what's on my laptop on the monitor. It is however able to display (after buying 3 adapters, one finally working.) what's on my phone to the monitor. After talking to Acer the other day about this issue they prompted me by saying that the monitor is not compatible with laptop... I wish I would have known about this issue before buying this monitor. I thought it would work, I even bought the geeksquad protection plan but now I can't even return it because it's way past the due date for exchanges or returns. I bought the monitor first then waited to save more money and buy my laptop that is why I can't return it because i waited to long. Way to go best buy for recommending to me to buy it now I'm stuck with it.

About the best thing you can get for the price. Fantastic picture. Ignore all the dead pixel reviews and complaints about color calibration. Anyone whose smart enough to use their Nvidia Control Panel and make a gamma adjustment can take the 1.1 minutes to make it perfect. ALSO Is GSYNC compatible, and works fantastic with or without it. Only complaints are non performance related. I wish you could customize the aimpoint crosshair to be smaller, the input button would be better if you could hit it once and auto select instead of manually adjusting, and maybe some software to replace the OSD. 12/10 do not settle for the $50 cheaper 144hz's this is GOLD. Coming from a lifelong gamer and daily streamer.

This monitor does everything you would need a gaming monitor to do under 300 dollars. I spent the better part of a year finding a frameless, 144hz gaming monitor that didn't look like it would stick out in an office setting as well as perform well with any of my everyday needs (video/photo editing, gaming, media consumption, etc.) This monitor is set with enough features and settings to create the perfect experience for each situation. Something I come to expect from mid to high-end monitors. Also, changing from each profile (movie, gaming, etc.) takes getting used to with the knob controller for the on screen menu in the back, but it is a small price to pay for a clean look. I do not own any AMD parts in my PC, however, without the use of FreeSync, I still get a great picture with minimal issues while playing CS:GO, GTA, Overwatch, FF14, and so on. If I had an extra 3 bones to drop on this bad boy, I'd snatch one up in an instant and have two running. That is really the only other negative.

I couldn’t believe the difference when I saw gaming on a 144hz monitor compared to 60hz, I knew my next upgrade would be a monitor. This model was on sale so, I grabbed it. When it first powered on I noticed web page text looked strange, it was slightly pixelated which made reading very difficult. I checked the resolution and made sure nothing was scaled but still it looked horrible. I just can’t get over how bad the text is, it was literally giving me a headache. The monitor performs great when in a game. The text distortion is not present at all and the 144hz makes a big difference. I almost forgot about the text issue until, I went back into windows. A day after purchase I took the monitor to a friend’s house, I was interested to see if he got the same results as me. Yup he did. I put the monitor back in the box this morning and plan to get a refund after work. I’m so disappointed with this Acer monitor. Looks like I’ll be forking out a bit more cash to fully enjoy 144hz gaming.

I took this monitor back to the store thinking it was dead because it would not turn on. I found out it actually has TWO power buttons! Nothing about that in instructions. The instructions are laughable. A couple of pages in small type. There's absolutely nothing about tons of totally inexplicable technical terms in the menu. What's "DP Format"or DDC/CI or some other terms. Why wouldn't a company care to just write down this stuff about its own product. Also haven't been able to get the USB ports to work. Again zero instructions about that. Overall disappointed in a company sells a billion different models but never gets around to document its product. Certainly I'll remember not to buy Acer again.

I use it for gaming and productivity work and so far it is very good. The refresh rate is good and the response time is even better. The only thing I wish was better is the viewing angles and color accuracy but since it is a fault of the technology and not the monitor itself I can't blame Acer. I have an IPS panel as a second monitor and the difference in dark colors and overall color accuracy is noticeable. If this is your first 144hz monitor you will not be disappointed. The stand is a bit big and takes up quite a bit of space with the circular design but if you are really bothered by it you can get a monitor stand that fixes to your desk. Overall really happy with it.

Let me start off by saying that this is my first monitor that I have ran at 144hz and it doesn't dissapoint. Right from the start it is a great experience with easy assembly and beautiful display. I see a lot of bad reviews about the color display and stuff, but personally I see no issues. I plugged and played and it has been just fine with display colors. Also, I would recommend turning off the FreeSync option if you are playing a first person shooter (just google how to do it). This monitor is compatible with NVIDIA graphics, BUT it is a monitor thst is optimized for AMD graphics cards, but will perform well on either platform. Would 100% recommend this monitor

Wow did I have a day of trouble shooting with this issue to the point of almost taking it back to BB. Note I did not find the solution ANYWHERE. I really hope this helps someone because this monitor is fantastic. If you are connecting a laptop and the laptop is fully charged but you still have the charger plugged in the laptop the ACER screen will go black either off and on every second or just solid black. Simply unplug your laptop and it will work as normal. If your laptop is low on power plugging it back in will not cause this issue until the laptop reaches 100% again. On another note this bad boy is so slick for video games. I bought this for my first person shooters and had no idea the monitor has built in retical that you can turn on or off so useful! Enjoy!

I'm new to PC gaming and found this on sale for $209 in store. Coming from a 32" 720p 60hz TV I've used for gaming, this was amazing. Super clear with great colors. The difference from 60hz to 144hz is insane. I could see a clear difference that I new I would spoil me when I go to shop for more monitors in the future. It is a TN panel. I know that is a con for some, but since I'm primarily a gamer, I loved the fast response time of the monitor. I did only spend 2 weeks with this monitor though. I returned it for one with a 1440p resolution as there was a sale i could not pass up. But i would recommend this monitor as 27" 1440p 144hz monitors have a large price gap between 1080p monitors.

I purchased my monitor from Bestbuy's clearance section. This was a return open box item in great condition. After doing some quick review searching in the store I couldn't pass up a 27" 144hz monitor for the price I snagged it at. Also with the extended warranty that allows me to return this for a full replacement if anything goes wrong it was a win win. The colors are sharp and the controls are easy to use. Only complaint would be the speakers as with all monitors with integrated speakers suck. However I have a sound bar and use that so honestly its a great piece of equipment. I you can find one in store or even used you won't regret picking this up.

Like most people have said this monitor does not look great when you take it out of the box and plug it in. Colors are washed and the contrast looks off. After running the windows adjustment utility and then using the nvidia control panel to fine tune the colors, gamma, brightness, contrast, hue and digital vibrance (yes it seems like a lot of work) this monitor is absolutely stunning. The refresh rate is ridiculous. This was my first 144mhz monitor and I don't think I can ever go back now. If you're willing to put in the time and work to configure this monitor properly you will not be disappointed.
