    True Plug n play

    Posted .

In our finished lower level we have a 5.1 stereo system and I wanted my laptop to play movies, videos, concerts, music thru the system and display on the 60 plasma TV. I have searched a long time reading all the reviews. No one has used the (Actiontec mywirelessTV) for this application. Picture quality was better on the TV than it is on the laptop. Sound transfers seamlessly. It is being used in a 750sq ft room; it’s not going through any walls or floors. It is a true plug n play, nothing extra to buy.

    watch tv in different rooms

Good product, lets you watch TV in other rooms were you don't have a cable box. I wanted to be able to watch TV in bedroom without having to pay for.yet another cable box. I Hooked up transmitter to my DVR box and receiver to bedroom TV. The use of the remote blaster is a great idea. It lets you view the DVR box that I have on the first floor from second floor TV giving you full remote control function. The picture quality is great! My only complaint about product was that hooking up a scientific Atlantic box from TWC, requires a software update and calling the company to ship an extra cable, it is free though, they will send it out at no charge. Its just a matter of waiting for this cable. The unit does work on other stuff as well. While waiting for cable to arrive, I had my ps3 hooked up instead and it worked perfectly on that. Also tried it on bluray player and it worked and looked great.

    Great HD picture

Great HD picture. Interesting how (even though very infrequently) odd the action is that finally breaks the signal and requires a reset. More connection options would be nice as many homes still have RCA outputs and it would be nice to be able to avoid having to buy RCA to HDMI adapters or conversion cables just to use older sat.boxes or vcrs. This is a great product but if u don't have HDMI it is a little bit more $ & effort to make it work vs. the plug and play 5 minute set up with HDMI cables.

    Great product, awesome technology

    |
    Posted .

I'm very satisfied with this product because it does what it's intended to do, and it does it well. This system allows me to have 2 TVs in 2 separate rooms playing the same thing (I have a living room and a game room w/o a cable jack). I have the transmitter about 35 ft away in a separate room and it has no problems transmitting through the walls. The picture and audio are great; however, there is a slight delay (which is to be expected) and it's noticable when the audio is turned up and you can hear both the primary TV's stereo system and the receiving TV audio output. Also, approximately every 1 out of 10 times, when I turn on the receiving TV, I get no picture...I have to do a power reset on both units and everything works perfectly. That's a minor inconvenience to put up with to have the ability to watch TV in a separate room that has no cable jack. The final quirk I noticed is that the primary TV goes blank for a few seconds anytime the secondary TV is turned on...no biggie though. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this product! I would recommend this to anyone in need of the awesome technology that this device has to offer, but I would make sure they have realistic expectations.

    Excellent when it works.

I'm a quadriplegic and must use a computer & head mouse to work my computer with which I communicate. I like the Actiontec a lot! My caregivers love it to, because now they only have to look up at the big TV to see what I type when I'm on the ventilator at night at which time can not speak. With out this system, caregivers would have to crane their necks to look at my computer screen to read what I typed. However, the receiver has quit twice in the last week. It had to be unplugged and plugged back in to reset it. I had to use trial-&-error to figure that out which took nearly an hour each time. I wasn't sure what was repeatedly causing the disconnect alarm to sound, followed by the connect sound. I disconnected and reconnected each USB device. All that was left was the Actiontec transmitter. I disconnected and reconnected it, but it kept doing the same thing. I reasoned that it needed time to reset, so I disconnected and unplugged it and left it unplugged for a few hours while I watched TV. I finally hooked it up again and selected PC and I saw a message saying "no device available". The next day, I got our activities director to help me with the receiver (that's all that was left to check). She messed with it and finally disconnected & reconnected it and the computer screen showed up. I enjoyed it for 2 days and system quit again. I had to wait until Monday to get the activities director back in (I didn't remember what all she did). I disconnected and unplugged transmitter and waited until she came in. She selected PC and then disconnected & reconnected receiver. When I reconnected transmitter, PC screen showed on TV. I wish I knew what caused this. The system is all I needed for what I wanted to do. Thank the Adviser you sent! Good Advice!

Works as intended, but know the limits!

    |
    Posted .

This product works well for its intended purpose. But know the limitations! When transmitting over 75 feet the audio and video would not sync. My TV does have a sync adjustment feature but the delay was out of the TV's adjustment range. So it did not work well for that extended range application. Over time I could have adjusted to the out of sync audio/video if I was using the TV primarily for programs like the news that you listen to, but don't necessarily watch. If you are transmitting through walls the picture quality drops and forget about getting the sound and picture in sync. If you are transmitting over a short line of sight distance, less than 50 feet, then you will likely be happy with this product. It works well for that and its puts your older 720 dpi TV to good use.

    Great Wireless Solution

    |
    Posted .

Pleasantly surprised to find this solution for my patio TV set-up. With to way to run any sort of cable source without a huge expense to the patio, I try this product. Worked as advertised! Had to call tech support and they were knowledgable and helpful. Upon on initial install, I had the transmitter connection between the Denon AV Amp and the TV...no luck syncing up. After the call we determined to place the transmitter behind the Comcast Cable box and it worked perfectly.

Great product, that works as advertised...

    Posted .

I did a lot of research on wireless HD, and read a lot of bad reviews of these types of products, so I felt obligated to come write a review on this product that seems to do exactly what it advertises without some of the drawbacks of other products I read about. MY SITUATION: I wanted to add a flatscreen in my studio at the house and didn't feel like running any more cable, or punching holes in Sheetrock, so I started looking for wireless solutions and was a bit disenchanted by all the bad reviews of products that claimed to be able to do this. I just wanted to use the HD cable box in my bedroom to send a signal two rooms away into my studio to a small flatscreen that needed to be wall mounted. I am a bit of a gadget guy and have worked as a graphic designer for more than a decade now, so I have lots of computers networked all around the house, and lots of other electronics equipment in practically every room of my house, so I was really concerned about potential for interference. I have Direct TV in my master bedroom, and what I did to avoid the switcher box setup I am seeing other people writing about is, I ran the hdmi out of the DTV unit to the wireless transmitter, then ran component out of the DTV unit to the TV in the bedroom, this allows me to be able to have both TVs on if I want to, without any hdmi splitter issues, or having to use a switcher which would confine you to only one TV at a time. Hopefully some of this information is helpful to someone trying to figure out how to set things up ;) ABOUT THE PRODUCT: The product was plug and play... I didn't even have to open the instruction booklet. I have been running it all day with no lag issues. I did notice, when I powered the DTV box down earlier, that I had to reboot the wireless units, but I haven't messed with that at length yet to see if that's an issue, or a one time thing. I am using the IR extender feature and I can control the cable box from my other room now too. There is a small amount of lag, so if I have both TV's on and the volume up you can hear the wireless unit is running slightly behind the TV connected directly to the cable box, but that happens even with some of our other DTV boxes, where we may have a basketball game on in several parts of the house and as you go from one room to the other you notice that some of the digital boxes are running slightly behind the analog boxes for some reason, so this isn't an issue in my mind. I have heard others say that some wireless units have loud fans and these units don't appear to have any fans(so they don't make any noise that I have noticed), they have heat sinks and are well ventilated. There is a warning that says not to have these units next to a heat source, so they may not do well above a fireplace or in a tight inclosed space? As mentioned I have the transmitter and receiver a couple rooms apart and at times have had the doors closed, with no performance issues. This product is also upgradable, so you can buy other receivers later to add if you wanted to send to several other TVs for any reason. As I mentioned above I was concerned about interference with all the other stuff I have in the house, and so far, I haven't had any problems, and I have the receiver in the same room as my wifi gateway, wireless printer, my cell phone, iPad and two computers. One room over is another wireless printer and computer as well as another cable box and TV setup, so if I am not getting interference it's hard to imagine these unit experiencing interference issues, but I have heard of other products having issues around plasma TVs, so if you have a plasma, you may want to research that. Other small details - The units are small and light. I actually mounted the TV on wall and then simply used some Velcro to stick the unit to the back of the TV where there was no heat emanating, then a few zip ties cinch up all the cabling and now the only cable coming from the back of my TV is the power cord (if only this company made wireless power units) ;).

    Great product with easy setup

Bought this product since have HDTV over fireplace and did not want wires/cables hanging or visible. It was this or cutting holes in wall; I did have electrical outlet and cable on wall over fireplace. The problem was my SA 4250 HDC cable box from Comcast. Connected HDMI out from STB to transmitter and connected receiver HDMI to HDTV HDMI in. Originally, got no sound and non-HD channels were distorted etc. but went to Actiontec website and this was known issue for STB from Comcast. Updated firmware then got sound but still had issue with non-HD channels being distorted etc. Actiontec says this can be resolved with special HDMI cable from them which they will provide for free. They sent me cable but I did not use since I needed more than 1 HDMI input to transmitter. I therefore purchased 1080p/3D HDMI switch with 4 in/1 out and connected out from this to Actiontec transmitter. This solved non-HD channel problems and allowed me to connect game player and dvd/blu-ray player as well. I now have what I wanted for a little over $300 (includes Actiontec transmitter/receiver and other 4X1 hdmi switch) without cutting holes in wall, running conduit, installing outlet boxes, painting etc.

Great for streaming tv to another room!

    |
    Posted .

I purchased this to stream tv to a bedroom without having to run wires and purchase an additional cable box. The instructions for setting up were easy to understand and MyWirelessTV works exactly as described. The picture and audio quality is very good. My only negative comment is I think the packaging and description is very misleading with regards to the remote control. They show pics of the remote and advertise that it has remote included. It is very misleading and has you thinking that remote will do anything like changing channels or volume or powering off and on. The remote is used for setup only and you will be lucky if you even need to use it at all. Overall this is a very good product and I would purchase again or refer to a friend.

Wirelessly connect multiple TV's to 1 HDMI Source

    |
    Posted .

This is an easy to set up way of connecting 1 DVR to 2 HDTV's, maintaining full quality to both TV's. The only negative was the distance was considerably less than advertised. Quality falls off with distance. I found 100% quality at 20 feet range. 30 feet and the picture would occasionally show deterioration. Over 40 feet, forget it. Picture was junk. I felt the product was overpriced, but kept it, as there are few valid alternative devices to expand HDTV to 2 TV's simultaneously. And you can buy an extra receiver, so 3 or 4 TV's can watch the same program. It serves a good purpose, as long as both TV's watch the same program. That is the only option, of course. The remote extender works well, so either TV can change DVR channels...

    Did the job

I needed to get an HDMI signal to the kitchen TV without the hassle of laying coax cable through the house. I bought this and although the range signal is one or two bars from about 40 feet, the picture and sound are great. I called tech support before purchase and confirmed that it would work with the cable box provided by the cable company. All in all, I am happy with the unit and it is working well.

Awesome idea. Falls short of expectations

    |
    Posted .

For the price of this I expected much better. It is nearly $200 and you dont really get what you pay for. The concept is awesome but this product falls short of that. Setup is fairly simply assuming you do things in the correct steps. The transmitter has to be installed before the receiver. Connection between the two takes longer than 2 minutes at times which is slow. If for some reason the connection is not establishing then you are given these sync buttons to retry connection. I've tried these and they don't always work. The easiest way I have found to make it work is to unplug both the transmitter and reciever and start over. Once working it does work fairly well. The lag is noticeable if the original picture is in the same room. Less than a half second. This depends on the distance between the transmitter/receiver. I found that they work best at less than 80 ft. No way near the 150 ft the box says it works. This is strictly HDMI. Wish it had the AV/RWY connection as well for older tvs. Considering there isn't much of an alternative I would purchase again for the application I am using it for but I do wish it was better. It falls short of my expectations. Nothing out there that is better yet though.

Does good job of transmitting HDMI signal

    |
    Posted .

It does what it's advertised to do, transmit an HDMI signal to a remote TV. It's easy to install and attractive. Because I need to install it between the AVR and TV to be able to get both TV and DVD signals no sound is sent to the remote TV. This is an AVR issue not a defect in the My Wireless TV. Just a minor disappointment. Since both TV's are in the family room/kitchen area I just need to turn the surround sound volume up a little. After a couple of weeks I got a red LED on the Sync indicator. The tech support person seemed at a loss but told me they would replace it if it actually quit working. Almost as an afterthought she told me to try resetting it by removing the power plug for 10 seconds. That worked and all is good.

Works great so far, HDMI w/out the cable!

We've wanted to connect a TV in the sewing room, but there was no cable outlet in there. Two possible solutions: Pay the cable company to run another outlet (about $100) or pay an electrician to run a long HDMI cable through the walls or attic to the other room. But with this device, I simply hooked the transmitter to the HDMI outlet from the cable box, and the receiver to the TV in the sewing room. No drilling, no running cables, just plug & go! Note: You will need an HDMI splitter so you can still have HDMI connected from the cable box to the original TV, as well as in the alternate room. You will also need a small HDMI cable to go from the splitter to the transmitter. And of course you'll need an HDMI cable between the receiver and the second TV.

    Performs very well

This kit seems a bit pricey but there may not be anything equivalent at a much lower price. It definitely gets the job done for wireless video and audio. Picture quality is excellent, transmitted from living room to a smaller TV in the kitchen. When I had a problem with set up, ActionTec's phone support gave two ineffective answers before a good one. That plus a firmware update cleared up the problem. The firmware update came right after my calls. There may have been a connection. Being able to update the device is a plus, although updates apparently are not frequent. It's a fairly sophisticated product.

    Extend your cable box anywhere

    |
    Posted .

I was looking for a device to transfer cable from my family room outside to the patio. After researching online and stopping at a few stores I found the wireless device at Best Buy. Set up was quick and easy. Once set up no need for remote but keep on hand incase you need to reset. Transfer to second tv has worked well including all DVR features. Anything the cable box does on the main tv is now usable on 2nd TV. Only negative is the same show must be watched on both tv's so pick a tv that is not used as often. Enjoying the outside patio much more now.

Excellent Option For Long HDMI Cables

    |
    Posted .

After it was determined that I could not fish the HDMI cables through the ceiling/wall (due to structural barriers in the attic), I opted to use My Wireless TV. Setup was easy and it worked as advertised. The only issue I had was I started noticing lip sync issues. I tried changing channels on the My Wireless TV, resetting my whole system and powering the system down but I could not get rid of the lip sync problem. I finally googled and found that I had to select "Gaming" as the priority instead of video in one of the settings and this solved my problem. This particular solution was not included in the instructions provided. I've been using My Wireless TV with my ceiling mounted projector for about a month and so far, I'm very happy with this purchase.

    Pleased with this product

    Posted .

I am pleased with the Actiontec MyWirelessTV adaptor. The transmitter is connected to my DirecTV DVR and the receiver it connected to an LCD TV upstairs. The wireless signal passes through a couple of wall and the ceiling/floor. I get a 50% signal and the video quality is equivalent to that of the box being connected directly to the TV I've been waiting for about 5 years for a solution to send HD video from downstairs where my DirecTV boxes live in a wiring closet to TVs in bedrooms upstairs. To this point, I've lived with standard definition analog video over Coax. Sending HD video long distances or to multiple room in your house, up to this point in time, has been challenging and expensive, even for wired solutions. This product inexpensively address my needs.

Awesome , works through walls. My receiver is in living room, i moved my tv to basement and receive signals through walls, no problem One minor irriation is changing channels is a pain, it takes a second or so for each channel keypress. Also if i hold my remote in a semi vertical angle , it does not receive numbers like 0, it works fine if u hold the remote horizontal to the line of sight of signal. As for video quality and streaming, very satisfied with the product. assembling the product is a breeze. easy to setup. Dont use the remote they provide you, use your cable tv remote to avoid confusion when you setup first time.
