I have purchased Photoshop Elements over the past 5 years, but I didn't see much change between last year and this year. The video portion seems more stable than the last edition. I feel that on the photography side because there is an "Expert" tab and a "Help" tab that shows you how everything works it's good for the experienced and the new comer.

I purchased this to primarily for the video editing, and it did a great job. Premiere Elements is easy to navigate and has some really helpful tools to edit professional looking video. The shake reduction make footage look really smooth. Photoshop is just OK, has some helpful features but for me it wasn't really too amazing. The reason I took away two stars is because of an issue in the editing process of one of my videos. After rendering the videos "for smooth playback" the videos became super choppy, laggy and almost unwatchable. Thankfully, when I exported the video upon completion, the video was completely fine. Don't render footage when editing and you should be fine. Otherwise this is a great program, for an example of the video editing click the link in the caption of the picture.

I'd Give This Software 6 Stars If I Could

As a member of Best Buy’s Tech Insider Network I selected this software package to review because I have an extensive software development background and thought it might be interesting to critique my peers. What really happened was I quickly discovered software that I couldn't have created even on my best day.
Let's Start with Software Installation
Installation of this photo/video editing software onto my Win 10 PC was a breeze. Then after only one day of use an update was offered to me which I accepted and it installed without even a hint of problem. Then the update routine courteously offered to restart my computer now or did I want it to wait until later? I liked that…respectful computer software!
Photoshop Elements 15 Photo Editor
1. Being that retired software person mentioned above, after a few days using it, I find myself thinking this product is actually fun to use. And asking myself why can’t all software be designed this well and actually be this much fun to use? The more I use it, the more impressed I become.
2. Because of the three user interface levels built into this product: Quick, Guided, and Expert the learning curve on this software is actually what you want it to be. You can move through it at your own pace, bounce back and forth between levels, skip around, anything you want.
3. A photo editing novice could easily and successfully use this program within minutes after installation. Undoubtedly, there must be some photo editing features found only in the full blown Adobe Photoshop program, but anyone short of a graphics professional should be quite satisfied with Photoshop Elements 15.
4. With this review I included before and after images of an aerial drone photo I took of a local church undergoing steeple restoration and re-roofing. I opened the original RAW image, then used quite a few of the editing tools to accomplish the after photo. I just played around and really had no idea what I was doing, but I quite liked the results. When I messed up badly, I just reopened the photo and started over. Elements 15 allowed me to surprise myself. This is definitely well designed software.
Premiere Elements 15 Video Editor
1. Whew! Video editing is a lot tougher than photo editing. I’m not an experienced video editor. Truth is, this was my first time. Yet, I was able to figure out how to do the basics of video editing such as creating a new project, adding clips to my project timeline, trimming clips, fading in/out between clips for a smooth transition, deleting unwanted sections of video, adding text, adding bells and whistles, and so on. I love the step-by-step help system that highlights every feature as you try to use them. Hard to explain it, but easy to use.
2. I was able to quickly accomplish these video editing tasks because this video software follows the same three user interface levels: Quick, Guided, and Expert that are used in the photo editing program. This meant there was no new learning curve for the user interface.
3. One area I was especially pleased with was the Export & Share feature. You use this to output your finished video. There are a host of export options offered by this software that should cover most any sharing need you have. You can select any destination you want from popular online sites to local discs and devices. And you have hundreds of combinations of output resolutions and formats to choose from. Once I was happy with my very basic video, I was able to export my 30 second masterpiece to a viewable .mp4 video file.
Falling back on my software development background I want to tell you that I have seen and been forced to use some horrible software in my 31 years in the computer field. Happily, I’m able to report that this Adobe suite of photo and video editing software is the best I have ever used. I don’t give that praise lightly.
In the software development world, we use the word intuitive a lot when describing how well we achieve the goal of making extremely complex and powerful computer programs easier for people to use. Intuitive software has a clean user interface that makes sense and gives the user appropriate access to all the program’s power and features. Basically, it is a balancing act between the user interface and features that begins in the design stage and then never ends.
These two Adobe Elements software programs have achieved that goal and then some! I tip my professional hat to the Adobe development team that designed, developed, and maintains these two wonderful programs. I can highly recommend this software to anyone at any skill level. Personally, I'm looking forward to uncovering more and more of their powerful features over the coming months.

Turn your photos and movies into art

Photoshop Elements 15 and Adobe Premiere Elements 15 Mac/Win
I’ve attached 2 variations of a photo I took at the Houston Museum, edited using Photoshop elements. It took me about 2 hours for 5 different photo variations after I installed the program on my Mac. These included a color-corrected version, an old-newspaper version, a “stepping to of the picture frame” version, a puzzle version and a pop-art version. They were all great looking and unusual. This is an easy program with which to succeed. I’m an amateur photographer with thousands of family photos dating back into the 1950s and, of course, many more recent photos. I need to correct the color and quality of the old pics. I also want to create some art if I can.
Jump in, import a photo, and select a touchup under the QUICK MENU. . . or take a leap into the GUIDED MENU where you can do some professional effects. Do you hate the handholding? Move on to the EXPERT MENU where you can deconstruct, over-ride, or simply nudge the effects as you wish. Don’t bother looking for an instruction book. You’re accomplishing professional photo effects that will be getting you kudos from the family and friends. This is a very useful and fun program. If you’ve got a pile of photos handed to you from family, it’s time to pull them out. Get a cheap scanner (or you may discover that your printer doubles as a scanner). Both my Brother printers — color inkjet and laser -- are also perfectly fine scanners. APE can control file input from my Brother scanners directly. APE will correct colors, remove dirt and fully correct these pictures so they look like they were taken yesterday. Or, turn them into pieces of art. You’ve now got a wonderful tool. If you’re not an artist . . . well, now you are.
I hope you haven’t got any lingering memories of art or photo manipulation programs from a decade ago. I feel your pain. Expensive, incomprehensible, and worse yet, you knew you would have to sign up for a college extension course to have any success. Forgetaboutit. This is VERY different. A very reasonable price for an EASY-TO-USE and very rewarding program. If you want to pursue professional photography, you’ve got the right tool already.
If you’re using an older version of APE you ought to go to their Adobe PE product comparison page. My most recent version was “6” and this newest version adds a lengthy list of very worthwhile features and capabilities. Plus it has MUCH better embedded guidance.
I have the combination pack that includes Adobe Premiere. I’m a long term user of Mac’s iMovie, but I’m not a fan. Frankly, I’ve never loved the way it manages files and clips, or its projects but I didn’t realize how far along Adobe has come in providing an alternative. Adobe’s approach of providing QUICK, GUIDED, and EXPERT pathways to a successful home movie is much easier for me. This is a program that has been thoughtfully designed to help you succeed at creating your movie. If you only use these types of programs infrequently, click on eLIVE and get a tutorial on the various features for a refresher. Adobe needs a big round of applause for providing REALLY useful instructions and not useless feature overviews.
This is a more complex program than Photoshop Elements that will require genuine help, and it’s here. There are some useful templates (themes) to get you up and running before you master the full feature set. I jumped into the program with NO experience with any prior version of premiere. In a little over an hour I had pieced together some clips of my granddaughter’s school choir show, edited the clips for length, added titles and transitions and a cute graphic effect. Done. I exited out to watch some tutorials and got right back into the process. The program functioned very reliably despite what must be a sizable memory demand. Loading the application was slow as was rendering my short film. But, this is an older Mac Laptop (2.2 GHz Intel Core i7) with 8MB of memory. This is a great program which I’m looking forward to spending much more time with. It seems like a bargain in this Photo Elements - Photo Premiere package.

Excellent Photo / Video Editing Software by Adobe

Adobe Photoshop elements 15 & premiere elements 15 box came with Windows and Mac installation CDs. The installation failed for the first time with some unknown error in Windows 10 64 Bit operating system. After system restart, the installation went smoothly for both software. The overall installation took 20 mins.
Adobe offer two ways to install Adobe Photoshop elements 15 & premiere elements 15
• DVDs included in this box
• Electronic software download - see below
A software download for those who do not have a DVD drive in your computer. Please visit www.adobe.come/go/elements-esd for instructions to download and install your software.
During the installation, you need to provide the Abode ID and keys to register. Adobe Photoshop Elements home screen shows three options Photo Editor, Organizer and Video Editor. I have imported the entire photos collection which has more than 25000+ photos. It took a while (15 mins) to import entire photo collection.
I am really impressed with editing features on this software. I was able to edit photos and videos very easily adding light, color, balance, sharpen and exposure. I have listed down the new features in Adobe Photoshop elements & premiere elements 15
• Turn frowns upside down - Transform frowns into smiles, adjust squinting eyes and make other quick tweaks, so everyone in your photos looks their best.
• ENHANCED Guided Edits for help along the way - Photoshop Elements offers 45 Guided Edits that step you through to fantastic results.
• Picture incredible text - Get step-by-step help turning a photo into cool visual text and then adding an embossed look and drop shadows to really make it pop. Great for collages, scrapbook pages, cards, signs, and more.
• Create a collage of effects - Get artistic by adding multiple effects to a single photo. Photoshop Elements walks you through it and gives you templates and themes to choose from.
• Pump up the action - Add a motion blur behind your subject to create a dramatic speed-pan action shot.
• Photo painting - Paint an effect over your subject and then add textures and color themes to create a unique work of art — perfect for sharing on social media or as a printed keepsake.
• Truly custom frames - Create your own frames to complement favorite photos, add polish to your scrapbook pages, or share with others. This Guided Edit makes it a breeze.
• Touch your way to great pics - The Organizer and Quick Edit mode are now touch-friendly, so you can tap to do all your finding, sorting, and quick photo enhancements.
• Find photos faster with Smart Tags - Photoshop Elements suggests tags for your photos based on subjects like sunsets, birthdays, dogs, cats and more.
I would highly recommend this software who wants to enhance their home photos and videos to next level.

Perfect for Semi-Pro Users

I've used Adobe's Creative Cloud products since before they were Creative Cloud products. That being said, I didn't want to drop that kind of money on Premier Pro or Photoshop for home use... but, as a Mac user, there are times when Aperture (yes, I still have it) / Photos / iMovie don't cut it.
So I was excited to try out Adobe's Elements line - which is basically a watered down version of the Pro products. These are perfect for people who want to do more with their videos and pictures while not requiring the horsepower or features of the Pro products.
If you've ever used an Adobe Creative Cloud product, then you'll already be familiar with the interface. If you've never used an Adobe product before, then get ready - there will be a learning curve.
I was able to install Premiere Elements and Photoshop Elements on my Mac without too much of a hassle - it came as a physical disc which, for some reason I couldn't get to work in my external disc drive. Fortunately, it also comes with a download link. Once I pulled the images off Adobe's servers, which was faster than a Flash update for some reason, I was up and running.
I edited a few images in Photoshop and some videos using Premier - like I said, if you've used Adobe products in the past, then you'll pick these up really easily. There were a few times I found myself searching the web on articles to fully explain the differences between the programs from a capability aspect, but I couldn't find anything that would make these a no-go for a home / semi-pro user.
For all you Mac users - just know that I had to export a photo out of my Aperture library to get Photoshop to use it - there didn't appear to be an API that handled the handshake between Photoshop and Aperture.
All that being said, if you find yourself being frustrated with iMovie, Aperture or Photos on Mac (or Windows Movie Maker, you lucky kiddos) then I'd suggest springing for these. They cost more than free, to be sure, but they're a heckuva lot cheaper than the pro versions.

Great programs for novice photo/videographers

I needed something better than the stock photo and video apps out there for Windows 10 (which is my work computer) and since I use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop on my Mac, I thought I would give Adobe Elements a try since I don't need the power of full Photoshop or Lightroom and Windows 10 does not have a movie maker program baked in any longer (you can get Movie Maker as part of the old Essentials suite but Microsoft ends support of that on Jan 10 2017).
My summary says that these are great programs for the novice. That is not a slam on the product or novice photographers/videographers. What it is is highlighting the fact that if you consider yourself any higher than a novice, you should probably get Adobe's higher level programs. The Quick and Guided options for each program is probably exactly what many novices will need, and the quick version is exactly what I needed for my work computer. The Expert level may be good for the prosumer level but to me it doesn't have quite the ease of use that I'm used to with Lightroom or iMovie on my Mac (though Premier Elements and iMovie are equal level programs, I just have more familiarity with iMovie so it is easier).
If you need some great low to mid-level photo/video editing software for a great price and with great support, you really can't go wrong with this suite of programs.

Got this to upgrade my old adobe photoshop element/ premier version 8. I am your occasional DSLR user now turned iPhone photographer. Features are similarly familiar to my old element version and more! There are more help and guidance to edit your photo like a pro. For those who have a little bit more time, there is an Expert tab to edit your project to the smallest possible pixel. Its overkill to say the least to use elements to edit a photo from my iPhone. But hey, it took me just 3 min to tinker with this photo. You be the judge.

Great Photo & Video Editing Softwares

Adobe is known for making really good computer software, this is also the case with this Adobe software.
After receiving Adobe Premier Elements 15 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 15, I decided I wanted to install this software on my laptop, and I realized that my laptop does not have a built in CD/DVD reader, of which all laptops used to, and it is a good thing that Adobe includes a flyer that has a website link which allowed me to download a digital copy of these Adobe softwares to my laptop.
Upon installing the digital copies of these Adobe softwares, there is the option of choosing to try the software. This is a good option for anyone interested in these Adobe softwares, who might want to try the software before making the purchase.
Each Adobe software requires around 4 GB of storage space, the installation of both of these Adobe softwares requires around 8 GB of storage space.
The two pictures I included with this review are screenshots of Adobe Photoshop Elements 15 and Adobe Premier Elements 15.
In the process of installing these Adobe softwares, there is a screen that shows a website which can be accessed, in which there are tutorial videos, which makes learning how to use these Adobe softwares an easier process.
Adobe Photoshop Elements 15 and Adobe Premier Elements 15 are great tools for editing photos and videos.

I have used Photoshop for years. I have always had PCs, so I had the windows version. I decided to buy an iMac, so I had to buy a new Mac version. Now that I am retired I do not sure Photoshop as much as when I was using it everyday. I did not want to buy the $9.99 per month version so I went to the Adobe website and found out what Elements was all about. I liked what I saw and ordered it. I had over 30,000 pictures so, it took for ever for Elements to load all the pictures. It has face recognition so, I think it put it on over load! With the expert mode I am very familiar with all of the tools. For me at this time in my life Elements is all that I need right now.

I wanted Photoshop and Premiere Elements not only to improve some of my photos, but to create movies from photos or alter old home videos. I was able to add music to one of Grandpa's old home movies and created a video with music of my mom and dad from their baby photos to their 69th wedding anniversary. I still have much to learn, but using these 2 programs has been fun.

I am scanning a couple thousand color negatives from the 70's and 80's and this program is pretty easy to figure out and successfully enhance the images. I used a free trial version of the full photoshop program and Elements is much easier for doing the basic editing I need and has the ability to do many more technical improvements to the photos.

I'm an advanced hobbyist when it comes to editing photos, but I know just about nothing when it comes to video. That's why it makes total sense that I was tasked to make a video presentation, right? Well, I tried several program demos and in the end Premiere just made the work easier. I'm already familiar with the Adobe Photoshop interface, so Premiere just felt better, and that could be the reason for my success with this project. Either way, both programs in this suite provide an excellent set of tools, guided or not, your choice, for the newest beginner to even advanced users without paying for the full Creative Suite price. Now, you'll have to do with some drawbacks and features being removed, but for home use this just works out perfectly for me.

Not as robust as the old Photoshop I'm used to, but I liked that it doesn't require a subscription. Strongly opposed to software subscriptions so I was glad they still offered something as a standalone purchase. The video software was easy to learn and had some helpful tutorials. I wish the video software had cropping presets square 1:1 ratio for better social media viewing formatting BUT all in all it's a good software package.
