MISLEADING, NEEDLESSLY COMPLICATED "REGISTRATION" Buying this DVD boxed copy of Elements is misleading. i was uprading from version 9 to this retail boxed copy. ADOBE has gone the S* (HIT) H**E, buying retail boxed copies not LONGER INCLUDE serial numbers. Only "redemption code" is inside box. ADOBE has made it necessary to create ADOBE account online, providing some basic personal info in order to receive the needed serial number to activate elements. Needlessly complicating setup as the physical dvd WAS worthless, you must still go online, register, receive serial # and finally download elements from adobe website. ADOBE now requiring exchange of personal data registration is possible safety risk. BAD move for customers!

This was my first time to use Photoshop Elements and I am impressed with the features and ease of use. I am predominantly a Mac user and usually use the Photos app included with macOS. I have been looking for a better solution and Photoshop Elements 15 provides everything I would want in a photo editor. I like how you can quickly shift from a guided editing process or a quick fix into expert mode and back just by a click. I usually prefer to do things manually but the ‘Guided’ menu provided great results in a fraction of the time. Photoshop Elements even lets you adjust someone’s facial expression, which is nice if you ever have a child who didn’t smile in a picture! My only complaint is I wish it had better integration with the Photos app on the Mac as it currently requires me to manually export photos in order to use them in Photoshop. I realize this is a limitation specific to using this software on a Mac in combination with the Photos app, but it would be nice if Adobe could offer better integration. I included an example of removing an unwanted person from a photo, which took less then 5 minutes with this software. Despite the lack of Photos app integration I highly recommend this software for someone looking for an easy to use photo editor on the Mac.

    Good Photo Editing Software

I have not had a retail version of any photo editing software in a long time. I actually have used several different open source applications and have always liked the experience within them. That being said, this photo editing software looks to be complete, with nice easy tabs to navigate from a newbie's (Quick) perspective all the way to the Expert's perspective. I was easily able to crop and filter several different photos, as well as export them for the purpose I needed. When comparing it to what I am use to using, it seems to have all of the options and probably more, that I have not found yet. It will be fun experimenting with this application to find all of its hidden gems. I am certain I may only scratch the surface of what this software is capable of. I would suggest this to a friend that would not be able to make open source work.

    Featured packed affordable photo tool

Pros Powerful photo tool for the price point Contains many of the more advanced features and filters of the full Photoshop Large number of options allows you to restore or correct even challenging photos eLive section in the organizer provides a ton of helpful tutorials Comprehensive online help Includes photo organizer which can help organize pictures by folder, people, and places Wizards and auto modes are included to ease the complexity Cons Can be complicated for people not familiar with the full version of Photoshop Many adjustments have no manual mode and are limited to auto or a few selections Interface has a dated feel No touch interface for newer Windows devices Requires a separate Adobe account to activate instead of just offering from the Windows Store No way to merge two photos. At least none that I could find. Copy and paste is disabled Online help is somewhat confusing as searching return results for all products. You have to manually choose Elements. Photoshop Elements has been around for quite some time now. Years ago, nearly the only option you had if you had for advance photo editing was Elements big brother, Photoshop. It was far too complicated and expensive for the average consumer or prosumer. Thankfully Adobe created Elements at a far more affordable price with most options needed for almost everyone but professionals. Early on, Elements was very different from Photoshop which meant someone familiar with Photoshop at work was not familiar with Elements at home. By making Elements a truly simplified version of Photoshop it means more options for assistance and better familiarity for people using the full version at work. That’s a definite plus in my book. There are two parts included in this software. The organizer and the editor. The organizer helps people with large numbers of photos keep them organized. You specify locations where the organizer can find photos and it will search and display them in the folders they contain. Built into the organizer is a facial recognition tool to further assist in keeping your photos organized. When the software is open, it scans your photos in the background to categorize people and then you can add names to the faces making quick access to photos of a person quick and easy once done. If your photos contain location information the organize is also able to extract the information and show the photos based on the location on the map where they were taken which can be very useful for those times when you just can’t remember where you were when you took the photo. You can also name the locations on the map. If you want your photos fully organized, you can even go as far as defining the event a group of photos are taken. If that is not enough you can even add tags to photos so you can search by keywords later. Much of this information is specific to Elements and not in the photos so when it asks you to back up your settings, it would be a wise choice so if something goes wrong you don’t lose all your organizing work. Once you are done organizing and want to share your photos, the organizer can help with options for Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo, as well as other traditional options such as DVD. The editor handles all the basic tasks of photo editing and then goes further. Just like every other photo touchup tool, you have automatic options if you don’t wish to get hands on. It does a nice job in most situations. If you are looking for an editor with an array of manual options, you may be served better by the full version of Photoshop. An example is you can choose to automatically set levels or choose from a few thumbnails of options but if you want to manually compress the levels to optimized photos to the fullest you will be disappointed. A decent compromise is that you do have the option to remove a color cast. For most, including a good number of prosumers, this should be more than adequate with an attractive price. There are an array of affects(filters), textures, and frames to give you plenty of options to tweak your photos to your liking. A few new options, at least to me, are haze removal and shake reduction. I have a lot of older photos that were taking with a digital point and choose with a very average dynamic range. Photos outdoors often produced a washed out, hazy look. With haze reduction, I can adjust them to bring some vibrancy and make them a more attractive. I am sure this has been around for a while but, for me, this was a treat to discover. For the future, I would love to see Adobe modernize the style of their interface. I would also like to see this ported to a UWP version for Windows with full touch capability. A few more manual controls, including levels, and the ability to copy and paste between photos would go a long way. Some navigation buttons, such as switching between photos in organizer, would also be better if a little larger. Photoshop Elements 15 is a great product for the price. If the most you ever do is click auto adjust, this is likely overkill. If you are a professional that uses Photoshop at work and want something more affordable at home, then this could also work out great. The core groups that I feel Elements is a great fit for are power users, prosumer photographers, or aspiring professional photographers with a tight budget. There is also a Premier version as well as version with Video Editing if you need extra functionality. As a bonus, the techniques and skills learned in Elements will give you nearly everything you need while helping your comfort level and knowledge if you ever upgrade to the full Professional version.

    Powerful tools for all levels

This product is a bit harder to write a review on because there are simply so many features to talk about. I am nowhere near an as experienced as an advanced photo editor but I do like to have nice looking photos from my DSLR. Usually I default to Lightroom to get my desired look but there are things that only Photoshop products can do. It has been a while since I looked at a Photoshop Elements product (Elements 12), but it has been long enough that I can see the progress between the previous version I used and the most recent release. Photoshop 15 is simply packed full of features. It was tempting to go straight to the “Expert” level editing but I felt that doing this would not lead to a realistic review since all levels of users are going to use this product, that and I often have no clue what I am doing when using some of those expert level features other than just playing around. I started with the guided features using two photos of a house and a pumpkin to play with. The guided features make every single advertised effect EXTREMELY easy to implement. I can see myself using many of these to get the proper smiles in my photos or cleaning up patches of grass, or simply deleting portions of the photo out. In past versions, that was a slightly tedious thing to do as it took lots of time getting patterns just right and cropping exact edges. Well, Photoshop 15 does all of that work for you if you use the built in tools. I was a bit turned off by the quick settings as they are almost too simple to the point where many are useless. I just did not see the point of a toothbrush tool to get whiter teeth. What I mean is I am sure there are times it can come in handy, but I did not see some of these tools as being used often enough to be on the quick mode which in my mind should have tools which would be commonly used. This is just an opinion and maybe some of those features are used much more than I know. I saw the most use out of the guided menu and the expert menu. The guided menu has many actual relevant tools which produce immediate and powerful results. There is minimal interaction needed to achieve the desired effects. I attached the photo I used to when I was playing around around with the software. Keep in mind I am not at all the creative type or well versed in the world of Photoshop, I simply wanted to see what someone with little experience could do in a short period of time (less than 10 minutes). I am sure if you put some actual time and effort into getting a nice photo it would come out much better. The expert menu feels like full fledged photoshop to me with the ability to use layers, almost all the major tools, RAW editing and more. I tested the software on a 2015 Macbook Pro (i5 & 8gb RAM). Most of the effects were very fast and only rarely did I see any hangups when using the tools. Most often I saw pauses when using the mask features and finalizing guided effects. If you have more powerful hardware I am sure there will be no lag at all. The software does use your graphics card to accelerate certain effects. In summary, the software is a great product with tools for all levels. If you are just a beginner, it is a great tool to learn more advanced features on but can provide lots of fun photo editing tools regardless if you know what you are doing or not.

I used to use a full version of Photoshop. While I could get it to do what I intended, even simple photo touchup was always a bit like those colorized movies - it just never looked quite right. I'm sure I could have figured it out eventually, but I was missing two critical things - the time and the desire. Enter Photoshop Elements 15. Snapshots can be cleanup up very quickly and very easily. The automatic features work well, and I rarely tweak beyond this. I found it most useful for photos from my iPhone 7, but even images from my Lumix superzoom and my Nikon DSLR could frequently be improved with a couple of clicks. (See the attached image I took while walking last week.) Some of the more interesting features revolve around faces. I'm sure you've taken a lot of photos that would be perfect if that one person didn't have their eyes closed. Well, I'm that one person. This program very effectively made my eyes appear open. While I wouldn't want to try it with a close up, for group shots it was really effective. I have not the chance to apply the "turn a frown into a smile" feature, but I am interested to see what happens when I do.

I primarily use this for editing photos. It is simple and easy to use. I also was able to edit video which is a great feature. It was easy to install. I chose this product based on the recommendation of the sales person. He also made me aware that when there are updates for this software I will be able to download them. Other programs for photo editing were a bit outdated and didn't offer the updating.

I was able to import all my photos from Apple's iPhoto program with no issues. If you are looking for a good photo program for Mac, to replace iPhoto or Photos, this one works great.
