Decent product I’ve been using for a long time. They seem to have changed some of the edit algorithms and a couple of them regressed in my opinion. In spite of quirks I have not found a better app for photo management.

A Lot of Capability in a Stripped Down Package

What you need to know before we start: I’m not a graphics professional so I don’t manipulate photos for a living. I’m just an amateur home user of this software. So, here’s what I think after using it for a week or so. It’s a bit overwhelming given that I’ve been using Photoshop Elements 2018. This “simplified” version of Adobe Photoshop is a lot to deal with as an occasional user as it provides way more capabilities than most would need. It’s going to take me a few months to get comfortable with using it.
When you open Adobe Photoshop Elements 2022 you see three links at the top of the screen: “Quick” “Guided” and “Expert.”
The QUICK link provides some of the basic links/tools that I’m more familiar with from the older (2018) version of Elements. Straighten, red-eye elimination, quick selection tool, rotate, crop, resize, smart fixes, auto adjustments, adjust lighting and contrast, as well as some basic filters (distort, noise and filter to name a few), etc.
When you select the GUIDED link, you’ll see 11 windows that will take you step-by-step through various techniques: brightness and contrast; correcting skin tones; cropping photos; levels (brightness, contrast, changing tonal ranges); lighten and darken photos (correcting shadows and/or highlights); moving and/or scaling objects in a photo; removing objects (This is handy if you get “photo bombed” by someone or something intruding into your photo.); resizing the image; rotating and straightening (a very handy technique); sharpening the image and finally, creating vignette effects. You need to have a photo selected first and then open the appropriate “how to” guide.
Finally, there’s the EXPERT link. This has the same tools/techniques as the basic one and then adds a whole bunch more of them which brings your capabilities closer to those provided in the “full up” version Photoshop.
The bottom line: If you’re one of those people who only uses photo processing software occasionally (say to send shots to Grandma or Grandpa) this may be too much for you. On the other hand, if you want to expand your capabilities or you see yourself as a bit of an artist, you might want to invest some time in learning your way around this software. If you’re a professional graphics person, this probably won’t provide enough capability for your needs and you’ll need the full version of Adobe Photoshop.
As a bonus, it includes a photo organizer (Adobe Elements Organizer 2022) and a video editor trial (Adobe Premier Elements 2022). I don’t care for photo organizers – I have a lot of photos and it’s way too late for me to try and bring more organization to the hundreds of photos I have on my desktop computer. The video editor looks like it provides similar capabilities as Adobe Photoshop Elements 2022 but for videos.

Very powerful photo editor

I used Photoshop a number of years ago. It’s very powerful and extremely complicated. This is something different. This is Photoshop Elements 2022. It too is very powerful, but it’s not nearly as complicated. The program can operate in 3 modes; Quick, Guided, and Expert.
In Quick Mode, you can do Smartfixing, change exposure, Lighting, color, balance, and sharpening. They are very automatic processes and you just choose how heavily you want to apply the effect.
In Guided mode, you can do much more and it will guide you through the process step-by-step. The basics allow you to control brightness and contrast, correct skin tone, crop photos, adjust levels, lighten and darken, move and scale objects within a photo, remove unwanted objects, rotate and straighten a photo, sharpen and add effects. You can also do numerous color adjustments, black & white effects, do fun edits, special edits, and merge photos into nice compositions. There are 60 guided edits that allow you to create perfect pet pictures, extend photo backgrounds automatically, move and scale objects and easily erase distractions in your images.
Expert mode gives you fine control over your photos. It gives you much of the power of full-blown Photoshop. It’s not as simple to use as the Guided and Quick modes but gives you almost unlimited capabilities.
There have been a lot of new features added. Using Adobe Sensei AI technology you can let the program do the hard work so you can focus on the way you want the image to look. You can create “not-so-still” photos by adding simple animations like snowflakes, sparkles, and you can create fun animated frames. You can now “warp” photos and place one photo inside another by wrapping it around an object like a ball or fitting it inside shapes like a pair of sunglasses. Add motion to your photos with 2D and 3D effects like panning, rotating, zooming, and tilting and save them as MP4s or GIFs. You can turn your photo into a piece of artwork by choosing from over 40 different art styles and selecting the intensity of the effect. You can fine-tune faces, making them all look directly where you want them to, by adjusting the position of a person’s face. Adjust facial features by opening closed eyes, and turning frowns upside down. You can apply fun filters and effects and they even have a way to remove “camera shake” from your photos. It’s very powerful.
Not everyone can master Photoshop. Photoshop Elements 2022 however is easy to learn and easy to use. You will never look at your pictures the same way, once you start using Photoshop Elements 2022. I highly recommend this program for anyone that wants high-quality photos, regardless of what kind of camera you are using.

I’m going to review Adobe Photoshop Elements 2022 from the standpoint of being an older person with not much experience in digital editing. (I come from the era of the darkroom and enlarger). A couple of years ago, I had a friend who had installed Photoshop on his computer and I tried it. I was lost and just wanted to go home and put another roll of 35 mm. film in my camera. I think for this reason I’m the target buyer for “Elements.”
It absolutely is like having a teacher over your shoulder, with the “Quick,” “Guided,” and “Expert” functions. I’ve made some amazing improvements with my photographs, tricks I never could have done as easily with my old analog enlarger. Learning to use the program is easy.
You can start with “Quick.” If you’re in a hurry, you can just push the “smart fix” button and the program will attempt to improve your photo all on its own. Next easiest is you can push different ‘buttons’ to lighten or darken, increase or decrease color, sharpness etc. In this mode you can also crop, zoom in, fix red-eye and whiten teeth. etc.
As you get more advanced or become braver, try the “Guided” section. You can do some amazing things here, like remove someone in the picture you didn’t want in there, or maybe just keep the color of an object you want to emphasize, and make the rest of the picture black and white, and do so much more. Just as if you had a teacher over your shoulder, the program will guide you every step of the way to achieve these effects.
As far as “Expert” I’m not there yet, lol, but when you become skilled with the program, you’re only limited by your imagination as to what you can do there.
Another cool feature of the 2022 version of “Elements.” You can add moving overlays to your photos; snow is actually falling, bubbles are moving around kids, leaves are actually falling in an autumn picture, etc. Many other cool features as well.
A final thing I like about “Elements.” You pay the one-time cost and it’s yours forever. For the full version of “Photoshop” you pay 20 dollars a MONTH.
I find Photoshop Elements 2022 absolutely fascinating. I can do so much more than I ever could in my old darkroom, and I don’t even need to turn the lights off. Just a warning though, I think you’ll find the program addicting as you start to manipulate your photos, you keep finding ways to make them better.

We received Adobe Photoshop Elements 2022 for the purposes of review. We were glad to get it, though. Both of us enjoy making cards and posters and this looked like it would make some of the computer side formatting and manipulation tasks easier. It does. There have been some challenges, however.
The good:
It is so so easy to pop back and forth between the three software assist levels! Going from everything preset to the advanced manipulation tools is a button click. I can't tell you how much I love that. While I have plenty of computer and online experience, I still have troubles knowing all the meanings of the words used by graphic tools. This just made everything simple when I really need it to be simple and allowed me to do more advanced functions when I want the advanced functions. That is simply outstanding.
The less good:
The software sets itself up just fine, but there were two places where you needed to input a complex alphanumeric key to unlock the software. Both had the same number of fields. Somehow, I spent an hour trying to figure out why my code wasn't working before realizing that there was a second code that looked to me to be very similar to the first code and so I kept missing it. That was really needlessly frustrating and I don't think that it was completely user error.
Less less good. I have a 3 year old gaming laptop computer running the latest version of Windows (12/4/2021). Maybe I'm naïve, but I'd think that the computer should have processing power to spare for this software. It has frozen a couple times for me, though, which has been a needed reminder of the days when autosave didn't exist. SAVE YOUR PROJECTS REGULARLY and you should have no worries.
All in all, It's great functional software that turns plenty of graphic tasks into simple button pushes. I totally love that. Pay close attention to the installation process, have a newer computer, and don't forget to save and you should have no worries. Do all that and I highly recommend the software. Don't do all that and there might be some frustration in your future.

I’ve been editing and tweaking most of my photos on an iPad Pro or for quick edits on my phone, but with the holidays fast approaching I was thinking I should invest in some software for my PC. I’ve used many of Adobe products in the past so felt comfortable going with Photoshop Elements.
After I downloaded Photoshop Elements, I had the opportunity to use it to tweak some of the photos we took at our last tennis tournament. There are so many automated features, filters, and fixes that I felt like I could take any pic I took and make it worth of printing or posting. I love some of the artwork filters and being able to add motion to parts of the pic is also great. There is an easy ‘wizard’ you can start off with at the top of the screen, once you’ve opened the photo you are trying to improve. Each one offers a brief step-by-step guide on how to get the desired effect. If you are lacking for some creative ways to change up your photos this part of the app would be a great place to start.
There are some very simple tools that someone who has never used Adobe products can start using to get that ‘Wow!’ effect, but it also offers enough advanced features that really let you dial in the effect, filter, look you are looking for. It might seem a little overwhelming for a complete novice at first, but a small investment of time goes a long way. This is a great way to level up your photos for the holidays and beyond. There is so much you can do with this app. So much potential here, that this is an easy recommendation for anyone looking to get the most out of their photos.

There is a reason the term Photoshop is used when referring to images that may have been modified. Photoshop is the be all end all for photo manipulation. There are many other options on the market, but if you want professional results and are willing to spend quality time with the product, this tool is the best of the best.
There is not much you can not do with this program. Remove power lines from a great sunset...easy! Fix an old damaged photo, no so easy but very doable. It just depends on how much effort you want to put into the process. The tools are all there to make a fantastic result.
Just playing with it I have been able to make realistic results that fool family members into thinking our fraternal twins looked exactly alike when they were little. They have always look like brothers but not like twins.
You can have a lot of fun with this, or just use it to clean up photos you want to keep. It makes it very easy to find the best photos and organize them. It also will allow you to take multiple photos and join them to make one great photo. Chop off a head in one photo and replace the blinking insane smiling goofball that ruined that perfect shot. Yes I have removed my own head many times in recent years. lol
If you are on the fence and in the market for a photo manipulation tool. This is worth every penny. The tutorials will help you along the way unlike any others I have seen. There are a ton of videos online to help you do what you are trying to create. Enjoy and amaze your friends and family with the results you create.

Adobe has Photoshop Elements has updated the interfaces to be more current and user friendly. This is a budget friendly photos management and touchup software for anyone looking to gain control of their photos and touch up; from high school to college students, to others looking for more without the big cost starting in the world of photography.
As the trend goes in previous versions, there is an initial splash page intro that asks which version you are coming from or if you are a new user. Photo editing can be quicky, guided, and in expert mode. The guided edits option as vastly improved while walking you through changes and edits to your photos. There are additional perks as this can be used to create photo cards, collages, slideshows, and even other. Useful when trying to send that perfect photo to friends and family without having to send several separate photos. Use these a lot as the seasons change and take photos to send out. The expert option does give you more control over your photo as you progress out of guided mode.
Adobe has continuously found ways to improve photo editing from beginners to professionals through what they have to offer. The various toolsets provided are very similar to their more professional version, without all of the extra features. Highly recommend this for anyone having an interest in photography from a hobby to a profession.

Great Features for Good Price - But Issues for Mac

Adobe - Photoshop Elements 2022 for MAC (not Windows) is pretty much a no-brainer purchase decision - especially at its current sale price. With so many features and options in one program, it's hard to find a comparable alternative.
That said, there are a few things to consider:
• If you already have a copy of Photoshop Elements within the last couple of years, there's really no reason to upgrade.
• If you have not used an Adobe product as a Mac user before, you need to know that this is not intuitive software or 'Mac-like'. Once you move beyond the automatic features, it will leave you in unfamiliar territory. However, if you put in the time, you will eventually find yourself editing photos like a semi-Pro.
• I should mention that it also had trouble handling the basic format of photos in iPhoto. Not sure why, but it kept wanting to convert from 16-bit color, to 8-bit color, which then limited the number of special effects and other features which were available while editing the converted photo. And these were brought in directly from iPhoto. FYI My Mac is a recent Intel model.
If you're looking for an impressive variety of effects and features, and you're willing to accept a steep learning curve, this is for you.

Photoshop is so ubiquitous that it has reached the rare elevation of being turned into a verb. While I used to run a full version of Photoshop, it was always complex and a bit cumbersome. I've been using Photoshop Elements for a number of years now, and it is so much simpler to use - and Adobe keeps improving it.
The interface now has some simplified macro commands, like "lighting" and "smart fix" in addition to the fine tuning options, making this an excellent tool for tinkerers and more sophisticated users alike.
In the 2022 version of Elements, Adobe has added a couple of great features. One is the ability to use an image as wallpaper on an object. Say you have a great sunset image that you think would look nice on the coffee mug you're holding in a photo. With just a few clicks, your mug has transformed into a sunset mug. The other is to add motion to photo scenes. Say you have an outdoor shot that would like more lively with clouds rolling by or snow actively falling - now you can add them.
With Elements you get the industry standard for photo and video editing in an easy to use package, with new special effects, all at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend it.

PROS:
Lots of the classic Photoshop tools
Guided edits tab to help learn
Camera Raw available
New Features: Moving overlays, image warp, perfect pet, artistic effects, and extended background
No subscriptions
Perfect for new comers and non-pros
CONS:
Limited tools
Slight learning curve
Not for CC users, lacks a lot of the control and details
Photoshop Elements works as intended. It’s adobe software and works like adobe software does, that is to say, pretty good, clean and lots of help available on the internet if you need it.
But before I get into the details too much, I should say, this is a perfectly good and usable software. I’m not super happy with it, but that is not any fault of the software. It works great for the target audience. My issue is I am not that target audience like I thought I would be.
Let me explain. So I wrongly thought this was a slightly slimmed down version of Photoshop CC without the subscription, but that is not what Elements really is. And that is my fault, therefore my star rating and overall rating of the software is not lowered for that reason. As someone who uses PS CC a lot and does some very complicated editing with it, Elements isn’t really going to be useful for you. As someone who’s trying to get really good looking image editing quickly for their instagram or social media etc, this works great! I was hoping for my use, I would be able to do quick edits for rush jobs and fast turn around. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really operate all that similar to PS CC, so it was taking longer in Elements than just going back to CC. Even though elements won’t REPLACE my CC photoshop, I think with some time learning the layout, I can still use it to make quick “reference photos” for large shoots and then go back and make full edits in CC down the road.
So it’s not really ideal for people like me, who used CC photoshop or any other full PS version in the past, but what about beginners or people who have no clue what they’re doing with photo editing? Well then this is perfect. It sort of feels like Photoshop with training wheels on. There are also guided edits that honestly, seemed more complicated than trying to do them myself in the expert tab. But I could see how they could help teach people what to do. It’s like Dad holding the back of the bike with the training wheels on; maybe a little overkill for most.
So let’s say you fit in the target audience, what can you do? Quite a bit actually. Even though Elements is missing a lot of what CC has, it still has a lot of cool features that can help you make your photos stand out.
There are a few new features in this version of elements but two that make it worth it in my opinion are the ability to image warp now and the moving overlays effect. Image warp is pretty self explanatory, especially if you understand how text warp works. It’s basically the same as text warp, only now you can warp images. This let’s you bend and twist an image to fit into your composite better. The other fun new feature is the overlays. Moving overlays add movement to your photos like snow, leaves or hearts, even moving frames, and export as mp4 or gif. This can add some life and movement to your photos and make them standout. You can even mask areas where the overlay won’t show, like faces or objects, so that opens up some opportunities too.
One final thought that I felt worth sharing is that Elements can still use the camera raw filter as well. From messing around a little with it, I noticed it’s not EVERYTHING included, but it’s got all the basics that the camera raw filter does. If you’re unfamiliar with camera raw, it’s basically a filter to adjust exposure, color, light, etc. A mini lightroom filter pretty much. That’s really handy even for my needs because that means I can drop a raw file in, make my minor adjustments and use the simple tools included in Elements to make fast edits and get something good enough for home photos or preview images.
OVERALL I’m not unhappy with the program, it can do a lot of really useful things and is definitely better than paying for CC every month. But if you are someone who will be doing a lot of composite work and image editing, it probably won’t be enough to make it worth it. I think this is aimed at beginners and people who don’t wish to do a lot to their image, but instead prefer to one click and done their images. It’s my fault for not fully understanding that but I think I will still find a good use for this program, and I know my wife will enjoy having a more user friendly, simple editor for our home photos. I think it’s a great program for the right person. You just have to decide if that’s you.

More Intuitive Than Its Competition

INITIAL SET-UP
Initial set-up and download are typical of most all software these days. Adobe provided an installer link that once opened, phones home and pulls down the required files for installation. Unfortunately, Adobe requires you to create an account to use their software and for installation. You can choose to sign out after installation, but doing so deactivates the software on the computer, but will allow you to install it on a different computer. However, only one computer can be signed into your Photoshop account at a time.
USE
The Photoshop software continues Adobe’s long-running dominance in the photo editing software field. The program is intuitive to use and the flow and feel of the opening splash screen are well thought out and easily manipulated by a seasoned user or a newcomer to the Adobe family.
Adobe has put some time in studying peoples’ needs and it shows. The software allows new users to easily create memories or manipulate photos with an ease not experienced in others’ software. The software isn’t doesn’t stop at the novice user. Photoshop Elements also allows a more experienced photographer a very thorough suite of adjustments, in addition to the basics. While nowhere near as comprehensive as the full Photoshop program, Elements fills the bill nicely of not being too basic, but also not bombarding the average user with so many options for photo adjustments that it becomes cumbersome and frustrating.
Photo adjustments and creative ideas are easily located, and Adobe even includes guides on how to make common adjustments that all people have experienced or will experience at some point. Simple things that can ruin a photo like closed eyes, red eye, under exposure, over exposure, etc. are easy to fix in Elements 2022. If you aren’t sure how to fix your photo in question, Adobe probably has a guide to help walk you through it. Most importantly, those guides are presented front and center, not something you have to dig through the program to find or watch YouTube videos.
CONCLUSIONS
I’ve been a Paint Shop Pro user for many years. Corel has a very nice product with a ton of great features. Quite frankly, I use PSP because of the price. It’s easy to find the previous year’s release at a steep discount around the holidays. Those discounts are often 75% less than a comparable Adobe product.
After straying from the Adobe family for many years, it is nice to come back and see just how far Adobe has come with their entry in the photo editing world. I will reluctantly admit that even though the price is higher than what you can get Corel’s PSP for on sale, it is well worth the extra money. The new Adobe user interface is much easier to learn than Corel’s. The handy placed guides and tutorials are great and really make using Photoshop much easier than PSP.
Let’s face it, unless you are a professional photographer, most folks probably don’t need a full-blown photo editing software suite. Adobe Photoshop Elements strikes a fantastic balance of not being too stripped down on features and not giving the average consumer too much to make their projects overly difficult and burdensome to produce. I think most folks just need a few key abilities in their photo software. These features need to be easy and intuitive to use and locate in the app. Adobe has done that terrifically. Those features I use and need on a regular basis are far easier to use in Photoshop Elements than they are in my Paint Shop Pro software. Not only are the features easier to find and use, I feel that the Photoshop software produces a much more pleasing final product than the Corel software does with less steps and less time.
Comparing Photoshop to Adobe’s primary competitor makes Photoshop an easy application to recommend. Even though it costs more than Corel’s Paint Shop Pro, it is worth the extra bucks for convenience and ease of use. I just wish Adobe didn’t require you to be logged in to your account while using its products.

The best Photoshop Elements update in a while

I love taking pictures, and I enjoy the results that come from making just the right edits in a photo editing tool like Photoshop Elements, but I have never gotten proficient enough to enjoy the process. Every few years I upgrade my copy of Photoshop Elements, hoping that Adobe will have automated something that was previously beyond my ability to do. To be honest, most of the versions that I’ve purchased didn’t really make things that much easier, but the 2022 version may have changed my mind.
I appreciate the power that Photoshop Elements offers, but unless you have the time to put in to learn how to do all that stuff, that power will be just out of reach. The latest version of PSE offers a number of new features that give sophisticated results without the effort. The core features are pretty well known by now, so I’ll focus this review on a few of the more notable additions for 2022.
Changing a photo to make it look a work of art is something that has until now been reserved for the full-blown Photoshop package. I’m upgrading from the 2018 version, and that one included a guided edit to make photos look like watercolors, but the 2022 version allows you to mimic a large number of artistic styles with one click. It’s fun to experiment until you find just the right look, and it couldn’t be easier.
One thing I’ve always wanted to be able to do was to accurately select the subject in a photo so that I can modify the area around the subject. In previous versions, I always found this to be frustrating. Using selection tools such as the lasso could get me close, but I could never quite get what I wanted. In this version, Adobe has introduced a new automatic selection tool that makes this almost foolproof. I say “almost” because sometimes the subject is too complex for the tool, but fortunately it’s not hard to modify the edges of the auto-selected area to get it right. This is probably my favorite new feature and makes the upgrade worth it. I hope to learn how to use the layers feature, and this will help to make that possible.
Photos are the specialty of PSE, but you can also create “slides” with movable backgrounds or moving overlays. PSE provides a number of choices such as falling snowflakes that can appear to be falling around the subject. The choices are limited, but if you find one that you like, it creates a very nice effect that can be saved as an mp4 video file that can be played on your computer or other device.
Warping photos is another new feature that is a lot of fun. Any photo can be made to fit into a shape contained within another photo. The example that Adobe uses is a woman with large round glasses into which a photo of a city street has been inserted, or “warped”. It’s a neat effect that can create new mashups from your imagination. The best part is that it’s not difficult, but your friends will think you’re a wizard.
The last thing I tried was the ability to extend the background of a photo. I had a photo in portrait orientation of my son and his girlfriend, taken in our backyard. I wished it was wider, so I tried this new feature. With just a few clicks, I was able to make the photo wider by having PSE duplicate the yard in the background. What’s interesting is that you can choose elements of the photo to protect, and thus ensure that those are not distorted when the photo is “stretched”. It’s a neat way to use a photo in a larger frame without having to resort to the traditional approach of using a mat to fill in the frame. It sometimes takes a bit of tweaking to make everything look right, but it’s a great way to make a photo fit into a larger space.
All the tools that have been added to PSE over the years are still here. You still get a fantastic organizer for all your photos, and now the tagging capabilities are even smarter, making finding a particular photo easier than ever. In the editor, you’ll still find the quick, guided and expert editing modes, this time with more options than ever before. There are a few PSE competitors out there trying to beat PSE on the strength of their easy tools, and this is where PSE has improved over the last few iterations. On top of the tremendous set of power tools that you get with PSE, it really gives you the complete package. Competitive pricing puts all that power into your hands for what you would pay for a lesser competitor.
As more and more software packages move toward a subscription model, PSE is still a perpetual license. This means that you don’t have to pay again until you’re ready to upgrade. I love this, because I don’t have the need to edit my photos often enough to make a subscription worth it for me. For me, the subscription model is a deal-breaker, so I appreciate that I can just upgrade to the new version when there are features that I want. I’ve been keeping up with PSE by upgrading every few years, and that works for me. If you’re in that same category, pay attention for sales on PSE, which happen pretty often. Since I don’t have the last 2 versions, I can’t speak to whether there’s enough in here to upgrade from one of those, but I’m very happy with where Adobe has taken PSE for this iteration.

I have been using various versions of Photoshop for years and this version is by far the most intuitive. I appreciate the ability to switch between advanced and basic editing. Basic seems to get most of what I want done and allows the UI to be a little less cluttered but its nice to be able to unlock the advanced features for more options.
The band aid tool is very useful as it supports content aware AI to help you remove any unwanted artifacts or even a whole subject can be deleted with ease. The included filters are handy to add a mood to your project. Adding movie overlays brings your project to life and allows for a very unique and engaging social media presence. Highly recommended for any person or company that wants to up their social media game.

Installation didn't go smoothly - program is "ok"

I don't know why, but this application did not want to install properly.
After downloading the software, I went through the installation process. Everything appeared to work fine, and I even got into the program.
The next day, I went to open Photoshop Elements, and it simply would not open. The program had also vanished from my start menu and didn't show up in add/remove programs.
I manually deleted the newly created folder from my programs folder and reinstalled it again.
This second installation appears to be holding, but I'm a little leery since it disappeared that first go around.
The software itself is "okay." I'm surprised that it's running as slowly as it is on an i5 CPU. I've used this same hardware for much more taxing programs, and it hasn't lagged this badly before.
The program itself gets the job done. I mostly use it for cropping and resizing photos. I'll occasionally do some color correction or blemish removal. This program works just fine for all of that.
I do like that they include the quick selection tool. This sets this program apart from most other photo editors which only offer the magic wand or lasso.
I was a little dismayed by its rather limited print options though.
When I saw that it offered a "collage" option, I'd hoped that it would allow me to print a custom sized photo in a grid. Unfortunately, this didn't prove to be the case; and I was limited to the same industry standard size options that Windows offers when printing photos.
This software gets the job done well enough.

Elements Provides the Bare Elements of Editing

The Adobe Photoshop Elements Photo Editor is an absolutely fabulous software for a novice to intermittent user whom wishes to touch up or edit personal photos. The interface itself is a bit bare-bones appearing, in that they did not splurge for a flashy display. Although appearing outdated on the surface, there are fabulous options to explore. Importing photos is simple, by choosing the open button on the top left. Once a photo is selected, the editing may begin. There are 3 different editing options - Quick, guided, and expert. There are specific person related options including face tilt correction, adjustment of facial features, and skin texture softening.
The quick editing is similar to traditional editing options (as available on a phone). There is a smart fix option, and the ability to change exposure, lighting, color, balance, or sharpen. Keeping it simple, one may quickly enhance the overall appearance of their photo with minimal effort.
The guided editing is the most valuable aspect of the software in my opinion. The guided option, does just that, guides one in the editing process. This ability to be led through the process of editing with simple instructions, not only assists in achieving the desired outcome; but enables learning of editing skills to hopefully advance to the expert editing. The basics allows brightness and lighting corrections, movement and scaling of objects, and object removal (one of my favorites). There are color options and black and white menu (with auto color pop!). The fun edits contain multiple assisted options including a meme maker, photo text, picture to sketch, duotone, 3D effect, old fashioned, double exposure, shape overlay, and much more. I found myself, recognizing many of these effects I’ve previously seen, and finally being able to employ them on my own (with a bit of guided assistance). The special edits within guided editing continue to provide more opportunities with background replacement, water color effect, orion effect, border expansion, and much more. Finally, the other option available within guided editing is photo-merge, to allow for the blending of multiple similar photos to ultimately produce the perfect image. The kicker of these guided editing, is that with minimal knowledge one may produce a quite impressive product, in very limited time.
The expert editing contains a toolbar and the necessary effects options to make changes to the photo including enhancement, drawing, and modifications. I myself have spent much more time in the guided editing, as this option keeps it simple to produce the desired photo with my limited knowledge at this point. I believe with time, and more practice using the guided options I will be able to use the expert tab; the fact that there is stepwise learning within this program is remarkable.
All in all, with this program I may not only edit photos with ease using guided editing, but rather improve my knowledge and skills in photo editing. I suspect that with continued use, I one day will efficiently be able to use the expert feature. So, on top of paying for access to a solid photo editing software, one may further their knowledge and skills in photo editing.
