Adobe Premiere elements 2018 is another solid video editing suite from Adobe. The install is long, but this is a big program and the steps you have to perform are not complicated. It also gives you an additional option of a download link to install the program, which is something I wish more software offered, as it can be much faster with a high speed connection than the dvd installs are. If you wish to add on the photoshop program you can do that from the install as well (at an additional cost). The program has a sorting option, which will scan and organize your files for you within the program. It sorts both photos and videos. Warning: if you have a lot of files this will take a VERY long time. Mine pretty much had to run overnight to find them all, and it used a considerable amount of resources while it was sorting them. It will automatically sort them with facial recognition, which was very cool and surprisingly accurate. You can easily adjust any that were incorrectly sorted as well. Once they're organized there are a lot of "smart" options for finding similar files.Date, faces, settings, etc, and all seem to be pretty accurate. There is a very easy slide-show option, in which picture are easy to add and swap positions on, and there are a number of effects that can be added, including music. I really enjoyed this feature and found it very easy to use. The video editor is simple to use as well. Drop in files, cut and fade, add files into the middle of files, add music, etc. All very simple to do. The user tutorials are a good idea and very cool but are kept online (not within the program) which was a bit of a hassle. The included guides are video-driven. They were pretty easy to access, but could have used a little more step-buy-step instructions. I found myself using the trial-and-error method more often than not. Fortunately the software is pretty easy to use and fairly intuitive to figure out. Overall finding, editing and creating videos was a breeze. if you want to jump right in and edit videos you can get started right away, but there are much more advanced tools within the program to allow you to get as fancy and complicated as you want. The automatic options actually create surprisingly good videos on their own if you are afraid to try too many things on your own. You can basically drop a few videos and in and have the program make something for you and you will be happy with the results. They'll be simple (of course) but they turn out very nice. My biggest drawback to this is virtually the same problem every program of this type ever has--it is a system hog when editing video. I have a pretty fast PC but I can't run much else when elements is processing video. It's expected from programs of this type anymore, but I'm looking forward to the day when that's no longer the case. Overall I would recommend this program to anyone that wants to create nice, clean, professional looking videos without having to pay a fortune for the software. Just make sure you don't need to do much else on your computer while it's running...

They added some output options like for 4k which is expected. But then they removed the options to create disc menus and some other previous options are no longer available.

When it comes to photo or video editing software, Adobe just keeps getting better and better. Installing the Adobe Premiere Elements 2018 software onto your Mac or Windows computer is a pretty straightforward procedure. You will need to create an account with Adobe, if you don’t have one already. If you’ve never used this type of software before, and feel in need of some additional support, Adobe’s website has many helpful tutorials. There are also various online resources, as well. Although I consider myself to be tech savvy, this kind of program always intimidated me. Not so with Adobe’s Premiere Elements 2018. Something I’ve always found challenging, is organizing my media. With the included Adobe Elements Organizer, your photos and videos are automatically sorted into albums or folders by date, so you can easily find, tag and organize them by people, places, and events. This Adobe Premiere Elements software can be enjoyed by anyone, for personal use or even in business, and is just the thing if you’re an internet video creator. For the novice, you can create a template-based movie quickly and easily. The software itself guides you through the learning process. And if you’ve used video editing software before, you can jump right in with Expert Mode and immediately get started creating amazing videos. I’d highly recommend becoming familiar with the program by using Guided Mode. Be guided through the Basics of selecting and arranging clips, trimming and splitting clips to remove unwanted frames, adding transitions between clips, and using animated titles. With Video Adjustments, you can improve a clip by changing its brightness, color and contrast, as well as, learn how to animate graphics and fix action cam footage. With Audio Adjustments, you can record and add narration to your video, or add some music to create your own musical score so as to enhance the mood of your video creation. With Fun Edits, you can choose to put a video inside your title for an unusual visual, create dramatic slow or fast-motion effects, place one video clip on top of another for a picture-in-picture effect, freeze a moment and insert a cool animated title, add a fun forward-and-reverse looping motion to a short clip to make your own “bounce-back” GIF, create animated collages or dynamic slideshows; even a motion titled photo or video to share on popular social media platforms. Adobe consistently adds more innovative features to its photo and video programs. In this Premiere Elements 2018 software, the editing options and effects choices offer a variety of fun, cool, interesting content which makes it simply enjoyable to experiment with and use.

Basic Video Editor With Learning Curve

At this price this software is a low priced Adobe product, which is surprising since by the usual splash screen they list what seems to be dozens of engineers names. I was wishing a few of them were here to witness it's quirkiness with Windows 10 Creator's update version. I didn't end up calling tech support to solve it, but I had to uninstall/reinstall the program to get it to quit closing the project file every time I clicked to "Delete and close gap" when tossing some frames in the trash. There are some features to Premiere Elements that are very easy to use (drag and drop transitions and special effects) but as a casual computer video person without a professional's experience I found a lot of it have a steep learning curve. The Help section is accessed using an internet connection which means no help if you have none at the moment. Seems devoting some space on the user's hard drive was not a good idea to Adobe. The choices for exporting your finished video are a big plus--you can even save as an Ultra HD 4K mp4 if you want, with all kinds of other choices in various resolutions. You can create presets for various formats and devices, so you can take the same video project and save it for everything and everywhere you wish to play it on, including the leading social media sites. That alone will be worth the money and trouble for many folks who want to make their own customized videos for their shared pages. So-if you are a quick but patient learner, with a strong interest in video, especially for social media, this software is just want you may want.

If you have alot of family video, or even video you want to cut together to put up on YouTube, you can’t do much better than Adobe Premiere Elements. It is quite similar to Apple iMovie (which is only available on Mac computers) in terms of functionality and ease of use for novices. This is really very easy software to use. You can set up the software to work in a “guided” mode basically shows you how to do things like arranging video clips, how to cut, trim, split, add in graphic titles, transtions (fades, wipes from one shot to the next). For most people that mode would be enough, but if you are an aspiring pro, you can jump into more pro-like features from Adobe Premiere Pro (what many Pro users use - and FAR, FAR more complicated), to give your videos a bit more polish. Similar to things like google photos app for android and desktops, it has a feature called “Instant Mvoie” and can create video automatically for you based on what kind of action Premiere Elements thinks is happening thru it’s AI. I would imagine the software is analyzing the video clips for moving content and sound, and trimming things away. Another feature it has is called smart trim, and will take a bunch of video files you have, and also scan thru them, and seemingly create really short social media like posts from them you could share. Pretty cool stuff. If you are not a pro, or want to dabble in what it could be like, you will not go wrong with this software. Very fun to use too.

This really is a full featured video editing tool and I like that it has both Quick, Guided, and Expert modes. Quick lets you well "quickly" take a video from your phone or other source, add titles, narration, trim, add an audio track, etc and then render it. Nice and easy for a quick touched up video for uploading and sharing with friends and family, etc. Guided does a nice job walking you through more complex type editing with effects, transitions, cool things like having a video in your title to give it a much more professional look and feel all while taking you through it step by step and there are lots of options, transitions, effects, and templates to really customize your look and feel. Expert mode is great for when you want total control over multiple audio tracks, multiple video tracks etc. for when you are ready for or if you already are comfortable with advanced editing tools - this is the total control you are looking for. Export and share lets you easily render and upload to YouTube, Facebook, or Vimeo, build a DVD with menus, or easily format for a specific device like a PC, TV, phone, etc. Overall really impressed with all the features it has for this low of a price. I’d recommend for both beginner or advanced video editors to make some great professional looking content.
