When I saw a friend wearing a pair of Trekz, I was intrigued, so he let me try them out. I'd heard about bone conduction headphones, but had never had the chance to try them. I was impressed by how well they worked! If you're considering these, you shouldn't be evaluating them like you would any other pair of traditional headphones. Due to the way they work, they aren't going to sound as good nor as loud as the better versions of in-ear monitors. But that's not a bad thing, and I'll try to explain. Trekz are marketed to highlight the fact that they don't block up the ear canal like other headphones. This becomes valuable if you're wearing them while running or doing other strenuous activities. From a safety perspective, being able to still hear ambient sounds while listening to your tunes is a definite advantage. It's also oddly satisfying to be able to walk around an office building listening to something while still being able to hear people you pass saying hello to you. You don't feel like you're in a movie with the sound muted. The sound quality of these is quite good. They do lack bass, but that's just because they're getting the sound to your ears using your cheekbones, and not the ear canal. If you want to improve the overall tone of the music, you can plug your ears with the included ear plugs, but that kinda defeats the whole purpose of the Trekz. Yes, they come with ear plugs--it's pretty cool. What I didn't think of right away is how valuable these are as a hands-free headset for phone calls. They feature dual microphones which do a great job of picking up your voice. My wife always complained about other hands-free headsets I've used, but she has no complaints about the Trekz-we can hear each other very clearly. An added bonus is that I can keep them on while driving if I'm waiting for a call, and I don't have to feel like it's annoying to try to listen to the car radio. This has become one of my favorite ways to use these. One of the great things about the Trekz is how easy it is to get a good fit. They slip over your ears and settle in easily right where they belong. They don't pinch the ears and can be worn comfortably for long periods of time. The headband goes around behind the head and is very light and mostly not noticed. The only time I don't like it is when I'm wearing a coat with a high collar, but that's not really a big deal. So, should you buy these or spring for the newer model? Actually, I don't think there's enough improvement to spend 50% more. Do yourself a favor and get these! Oh, one more thing. If you play music with more bass, you'll notice that the Trekz cause you to feel vibrations in your cheekbones and ears. It's pretty annoying, but I'm getting used to it. I think this is really the only major thing against the Trekz, but it's not enough to ruin them. I've found myself enjoying these much more than I thought I would. They're great to use while running, or just around the office. Give them a try!

    Outstanding Technology!

This is a review for the AfterShokz Trekz Titanium Wireless Bone Conduction Headphones that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. After using this excellent system for several days, I have come to terms with this new technology. Never have I been able to stay in tune with the world that surrounds me while listening to my favorite music or while communicating during a phone conversation. As I was skeptical of the new technology, thinking how would it be possible to hear music without the vibrations being sent directly through my ear canal, lets just say this is no longer the case. The blue tooth technology is user friendly, easy to set up and comfortable via the light and durable headset. It set up easily with my phone and tablet within a few seconds. In addition, the voice directions within the system gives prompts in setting up and also when the battery is running low. It also shares with you how much battery life is left. So unlike the many other devices I have used. On that note, it does provide 6 hours of interactive use time, just as labeled. On a negative note, the sound does not have a natural deep base, unless you choose to place the provided ear plugs in your ears. However, I believe this takes away from the products awesome unique technology, being able to hear and communicate with your surroundings. So one has to give to get on that front. I personally like being able to take in the music while hearing the sound of my feet hit the pavement and warnings from bikes, cars and others who share my surroundings. Note, the sound is still loud enough and clear....just note the bass is not unless ear plugs are used. As for comfort, I give these headphones a 10. There is absolutely no ear discomfort or entrapment of sweat, something that I hate with my other headphones. I totally forgot that they were on my head during my most recent 90 minute run. No lie! This product rocks on this front. My only minor suggestion is that it was offered in a different color selection. Mine are blue and ideally I would like either black, red or a combination of those two. Just my style I guess. Love this product and highly recommend to anyone seeking a great pair of blue tooth headphones. These are now my go to pair and will only use the others when recharging the battery which only takes less than an hour to fully recharge. Have to like that. Go with it, they are worth the price!!!!

I work outside in the elements during all seasons and down a dirt road, I am out in the wind- which blows dust most every day, there is irrigation sprinklers running water constantly in the summer and I am either driving or near noisy farm machines. For many years while at work I have struggled to hear my phone ring; never mind be able to hear my customers speak while I am in the field. On a whim went to into Best Buy; explained my situation to a couple of helpful sales folks, and with their recommendation- I chose Aftershockz Trekz titanium bone in headset. FANTASTIC! I can hear the phone, speak with ease, hands free so I can write a order or continue working while talking with customers, and my customers can hear me without shouting over all the background noise. Because the ear set rests on my temple not in my ear I am still able to hear what is going on around me- much more safe and convenient. With AfterShockz there are no wires to get caught up, just a very light weight frame that slides around the back of my neck- and under my hair it is not visible. I can wear a baseball hat with no issue. The sound quality is superb, sound resonates into my head- there is volume conrtrol so it doesn’t blare. Better than any ear bud I have ever tried. (After a few wears) they are so comfortable I forget that I am wearing them. It did take me a few days to get used to the pressure of the speakers resting over my glasses, and if I’m wearing a hoodie or beanie it pushes the set around a little - easy to adjust though. They aren’t comfortable to wear at night music listening while lying down. First world whining- Minor inconveniences. AfterShockz Titanium are the best product for comfort and efficiency that I have tried. I am going to get the new model this summer as I understand the ear wrap is even more comfortable. After years of searching, this was the best $100 I ever spent! I highly recommend them for folks that work and play outside. A word in praise of Best Buy staff- very helpful, attentive, really listened to, as well as responded to my needs. Excellent customer service.

Overall, I give the AfterShokz Trekz Titanium Wireless Bone Conduction Headphones a strong recommendation. Here’s why: 1) Set-up: setting up the headphones was as easy as turning them on and pairing them with my phone (iPhone 7). Easy peasy! 2) Ease of use: the headphones are super simple to put on and use. Just three buttons for all the functions. The volume buttons are a little small and hard to locate when running or cycling but after wearing them a few times turning the volume up and down was second nature. Skipping songs, pausing music, using the voice activation (Siri) was all super easy. 3) Sound quality: generally the sound quality was very good. Not quite as good as a high-end pair of in-ear headphones but this is more than made up for by the fact that you’re not blocking your hearing by sticking something into your ears. 4) Microphone quality: The microphone quality was also very good. I used the headphones for a few calls home and also for some conference calls for work. Everyone reported that I sounded good and that there was no distortion in my voice. Unfortunately, making calls while running or cycling is a different story. Wind noise interferes with the microphone making it very difficult for the person on the other end to hear me clearly. Interestingly, the voice control (e.g., to play a new artist in Apple Music) worked fine when running and cycling. 5) Comfort: The headphones are very comfortable. I wore them during a 3 hour run and never had any issues with them. In fact, for most of the run I forgot I was wearing them. Again, I highly recommend these headphones for anyone that wants a comfortable, easy-to-use, high-quality set of headphones. To me, it’s an extra bonus that the headphones don’t block your normal hearing. I purchased the mini version for my daughter for her birthday. She is 5 and was born with bilateral artesia. Basically meaning she has no ear canals. Traditional headphones whether being inner ear or over the head will not work for her because there is no passage for sound to get through her ears. She loves watching her tablet but for her to hear it even with her hearing aids she has to have the volume very loud and it hurts everyone's ears so we make her turn it down. When we hooked up her aftershokz for the first time and connected them to her tablet she wasn't phased. Then as soon as I put them on her head and she realized what was going on she started crying. She wanted to listen to music and dance she was so excited. Her teachers at school think the will come in handy later on when she gets to the age of using computers. I'm so grateful for today's technology and knowing that my daughter will always have access to sound.

Let me preface this by stating that I use a pair of Bose Quietcomfort 35 ii for lounging and general audio needs. When purchasing this headset, my only concern was getting something wireless, sweat resistant, and loud enough to listen to music while also letting in ambient noise so that I can be aware of my surroundings. This headset checked all of those boxes and have worked perfectly for the few weeks I have been using it. Build quality is great. Light enough to not really notice while you're wearing it, and secure enough on your head to not fall off even with vigorous shaking. Comes with a USB charging cable, carrying pouch, and two earplugs to help drown out ambient noise for the times you only want to hear the music. The best way to describe using this headset would be to imagine your every day life with a sound track. I typically keep the volume around 75% while biking; I can hear the music clearly and also hear any other bikers approaching behind me. Being able to hear both music and my immediate surroundings is a very strange experience. Phonecalls sound clear, and people on the other end can hear my voice clearly even when wind is blowing against me. Minor gripes with the product would be that in a quiet room, others can hear your audio around the 60% level. I guess the $150 Trekz Titanium Air is improved in this regard. If you go up to 80% the bass can feel a bit wierd on your eardrum. Overall I'm very satisfied with this headset. I use them 90% while exercising and the few times I want to listen to music without lugging around the larger pair of headphones.

It's actually a fairly good headset with pretty good sound quality. After reading what this headset is designed for I wondered why I even bought it. Here's why I kept it. We're not allowed to use headsets at work with both ears being covered or both in-ear plugs used. It's a safety thing! But I want to block out the annoying air blowers, certain hydraulic tests emit a pitch that drives me crazy, and certain annoying coworkers that talk all day long! I inserted both foam earplugs provided (included with your Trekz) and put on my AfterShokz Trekz. OMG! What a world of difference! It was like a concert in my head! I totally blocked out all ambient noises and only heard the music in my head. I mostly listen to my Audible books and I really love it. Also, I can't be busted for plugging both ears with my headset because I have foam earplugs in AND I can still hear others IF I choose to by just using one earplug. DISLIKE: There's no adjustability for smaller heads. The 2 rubber bands provided don't do anything for smaller heads. I wear a hat most of the time and I drape the AfterShokz across the back of hat to take up the slack, plus it stays in place even when I'm jogging. Other dislike is the battery life. It says 6 hrs but I've gotten 4.5 hrs. I just charge it during my lunch break, it charges pretty fast. I have shared this with a coworker and he now owns one too after trying mine out. He has the same views as I do on this product.

After many Bluetooth as well as corded earbuds, this product not only meets my needs but goes beyond expectation. I mainly listen to podcasts and books on tape. Almost any product will work if you are sitting down at rest. But, I mostly use mine to listen while working out during the day and falling asleep at night. Corded products have the annoying habit of getting tangled. Bluetooth products can lack sound quality, are limited by battery life. and button placement can be inconvenient. Personally, I find having anything in my ears extended period of time can be irritating. Another common headphone problem is the need to pop them on and off when someone speaks to you or you want to hear what's going on around you. Therefore, I was attracted to the concept of bone conduction headsets. After checking a few of them out, I came across the AfterShokz - Trekz Titanium Bluetooth Headset. The comfort and sound quality are surprisingly good. No problem with the headphone boring into my ear when I roll over in bed. And a couple extra bonuses: Although the battery life is listed as six hours, I have been able to get past seven. An addition, the time required for a full recharge is surprisingly short compared to any other Bluetooth headset I've tried. Their more expensive lighter version didn't feel as comparable to me, so I got the slightly heavier set. Once my wife saw (and heard) how well mine worked, she chose the lighter version. We are both enjoying liberation from imperfectly fitting earbuds, cord tangles, and poor sound quality.

    Beats buds in the heat

I have been using my AfterShokz for about two weeks. They sound amazing. I have wanted something like this for years. Regular ear buds have to be deafeningly loud to be heard over power tools, the lawn mower, or in a noisy work environment. Regular ear buds are also very uncomfortable for running, cycling or any physical labor. AfterShokz bone conduction solves this problem. No wires sticking to you, getting tangled or pulling out and no sweat filled ears, just great sounding audio. When running and cycling I could still hear cars and one excited dog approaching. At work I was able to wear ear protection, hear high quality music and still hear a broom sweeping the floor in a loud industrial setting. The sound: It is incredible, way better than I would have thought. I have a smaller head and have used the AfterShokz with the included fit straps and without depending on the situation. They even fit over the top of my head which is more comfortable for kicking back without the strap getting in the way, they still sounded great. The hands free calling feature works well too. I have never used a Bluetooth ear piece, but these are great, and simple to use. The battery lasted well over 8 hours of streaming Pandora. Pros: Great sound Great battery life Safety Comfort Con: Sizing - I do have a smaller head, even with the fit straps they moved around while running. If they were adjustable or fit tighter for smaller noggins that would be a huge improvement. As is I think this is an excellent product, and bone conduction, keeping your ears open, has so many safety advantages for athletes, weekend warriors and workers alike. So I bought this headset while specifically looking for wireless gym headphones! This was also my first time wearing bone-conducing headphones. - Charges via (USB Male A to Micro Male B Cable) - Battery life - Not fully tested but held up through all my workouts, including the ride home. (at least two hours / my needed time) - Volume - Loud enough that others can hear it outside my skull (technically too loud for anyone for earphones and beyond intended volume levels for product design) - Sound Quality - Excellent, though low bass levels. Again as intended I didn't expect soul shattering Skrillex beat drops from this. When used at proper volume levels, sound is clear, other folks cannot hear it, while I can hear the music and still maintain active awareness of my environment otherwise. - Holds up quite well to gym sweat! - Lastly, they are amazing because there is nothing to fall out of my ears repeatedly! The sound through the bone conductors was at first a bit disconcerting, as it sounds like something is coming from inside your head, the best as I can describe it. That being said they are awesome at the end of the day. If the company ends up releasing a more advanced (trainer, fitness etc.) version I will definitely grab another pair! I would say this is a highly recommended product!

I am always looking for a comfortable and reasonably priced wireless listening device. I find earbuds uncomfortable and they do not stay in place especially during intense exercise. I currently own a pair of Acoustic Sheep wireless headphone which are embedded within a head band. My only issue is that headphones are to be removed after each workout so as not to be damaged by sweat while allowing the headband to dry. I enjoy Acoustic Sheep headphones however for daily use these are not ideal due to removing and replacing headphones within the headband. I conducted extensive research and came across AfterShokz - Trekz Titanium Wireless Bone Conduction Open-Ear Headphones. Runners World ranked these among top listening devices to which I agree. Sound quality and comfort make these perfect for daily use as well as being sweat-proof, meaning they stay in place during the most intense workout. In conclusion, I continue using Acoustic Sheep in conjunction with AfterShokz - Trekz Titanium Wireless Bone Conduction Open-Ear Headphones as they each fulfill a need.

so I've been looking for a set of headphones to use while running and working out at the gym. my prerequisites were that they be sweat proof, and be comfortable to wear for a prolonged period of time while running or working out. I was set to spend a gob of money to get so called "sport" headphones that fit in the ear canal when I happened to cross these. I will say, the sound quality is not like Bose or Beats or any of the other high end products (and don't get me wrong, the sound's not too shabby). but where it lacks in sound quality it makes up with comfort, and if you're out and about, safety. I can both hear the music very well, and still be able to hear what's going on around me, without the discomfort of hot sweaty ears. so to get started, charging the unit took maybe an hour or so. pairing was simple. hold a button for a few seconds, and the unit will announce that it's paired up. power on, the unit announces connection, and it's time to rock and roll. I have an average sized head. so fit was as advertised. while running, there was no bounce, the headphones stayed in place. I didn't need to turn the volume up too high, probably mid range, to hear the music. and I was still able to hear my surroundings clearly. since the unit sits outside of the ear, I didn't get the case of hot ears, and so far, sweat hasn't been an issue. doing yardwork, I was still able to hear my music clearly even when using power tools.

I have to admit, I am a headphone junky. I purchased this set of headphones out of curiosity. I can't say I am disappointed, but I do find myself reverting back to my favorite pair of headphones. Here are my pros and cons. Pros: 1. Light weight. I wore the headphones for over 4 hours and forgot I had them on. 2. Easy setup. Connected to my iPhone X immediately. 3. Basic Controls = user friendly. 4. Stay on during intense workouts! Cons: 1. Vibration in the jawbone area at high volume, became irritating over long periods of time. 2. No deep base sound. Even with the ear plugs that came with the headphones, did not really enhance my experience. 3. The start/stop button used to skip songs forward seemed to stick. Would take me multiple times just to skips song. All in all, a decent pair of headphones. I would not recommend these headphones for the gym, especially when there are lots of people. These headphones are good for outdoor activities and leisure use.

AfterShokz Trekz Titanium's Bone Conduction technology is amazing. Sound travels through your cheek bones and into head so you can hear music. This is especially good if you are losing your hearing like me. You can hear things while you work and excercise. You can hear and be alert while you do things which is something you don't see everyday. However, since I have smaller frame and a shorter neck, the band keeps touching my neck when I look up. I also can't lay down and watch video clips without the band touching my neck as well. This wireless headphones is best suited situation where you sit down and work and need to keep your ears open to listen to other things as well. And since the sound travels through your cheek bones, the sound quality isn't as good as in the ear style headphones. Overall Rating 4/5. Pros: - Great battery life - Can hear your surroundings as well -Cons: - Overall sound quality lacking - Not very comfortable for short neck people

“This is a review for the AfterShokz Trekz Titanium Wireless Bone Conduction Headphones that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.” I have been hesitant to purchase wireless headphones because the wired continually fall out of my ears during activity. Additionally, the "loop style" always make the back of my ears sore. The Trekz fit and feel amazing. They go primarily unnoticed on my head, and certainly no not cause any pain or soreness. The only concern for me has been that they are slightly to long of a loop, and "flop" at the back of my neck when doing weight training. To be fair however, this is not enough to become an annoyance, or to take them off. The sound is great, and the fact that I can hear my surroundings make them especially appealing. In fact, my 15 year old son borrowers them to ride his bike so that he can remain alert to his surroundings as well. I am not overly picky with sound quality, so to judge this would not be fair. I can say, the volume and clarity are excellent, and they were VERY easy to set up and use. The wireless connection was great. At the gym, I was able to place my phone (music device) in a cubby, and walk away. No issues receiving a signal throughout the entire work out. I am very pleased with these headphones.

The packaging for this item is more than enough to protect it from damage in shipping. Very well packaged. The advertised items included were there and ready for use. The head phones were easy to pair and ready to go right out of the box. I got them in use right away. The sound quality is fabulous. They seem to have plenty of base which normally is not found in head phones. I enjoyed the sound quality the most with out ear plugs in. With ear plugs in the sound seemed muffled sort of like being under water but after a few minutes that feeling subsided. With the ear plugs not in the sound was the best. But at higher volumes people around me could hear the music. In no way was I able to hear someone next to me and talk to them with music playing. I removed them every time. The quality seemed high end and durability is excellent. I did plenty of work with these on and they were comfortable and had flawless sound. I let my teenage daughter and her friends try them for a few days and they loved them. Overall, I love these headphones! They're innovative, the sound is great and they're super easy to set up. The biggest benefit by far is how comfortable they are. It takes a few minutes to wrap your head around the fact that you get great sound without something in directly your ear...it's a little weird at first but very cool. I've used these in number of different scenarios...working out, running, yardwork and housework. In all situations they were great and I love being able to hear clear sound while not being isolated from the outside world. You need to experience bone conduction sound to really understand how cool it is. As I mentioned, the sound is great. However, these are not intended for audiophiles and they don't pretend to be. They serve a specific need and do it well. The only downside is the need to wear ear plugs if you want to isolate yourself from outside noise. I used them on an airplane and they were decent in this environment but it wasn't ideal to wear ear plugs. I have been using the AfterShokz for a little over a week now I I am really impressed with their performance, The sound is pretty good considering its not going directly into the ear. That being said the sound is amazing when you put in the supplied ear plugs. It really brings the bass to life! Most of the time I use them at work. I like to be able to hear my music or podcasts when im working, but I have to keep my ears available to hear computers alarm. Prior to the AfterShokz I was using either a bluetooth speaker or wired in ear headphones with one ear out. The AfterShoks are the best option for me as I can hear my music in stereo and my co-workers arent complaining about my Vaporwave. Another use I've found for them is when I'm working with loud equipment in my garage. The other day I ran my weedeater while listening to a podcast. It was great. I usually have to play the music really loudly to be able to hear it when running the weed eater. I was skeptical of them at first but now I'm a believer. All my co workers at the uplink want a pair now too! So comfortable not having to stick a heavy earbud in your ears for an hour or more. I tried a demo of the new $250 Beats wireless buds at Apple - so disappointing - these are superior. Comfort value is a 5 plus. They rest on the bone outside your ear, Sound is clearly a 5, these sound better than any buds I have had. They are great for runners, bikers and people who don't want to totally shut out the world. Percussion is ridiculous at this price point, they play loud, great clarity - and if you want to go without zero leaking, just use a comfortable sleeping or musician small earplugs - and they sound as good as my Sony $300 cans - i love them either way. Great technology - bone conduction - go figure. i will share these with everyone in my office and i guarantee people will go out and get a pair - $88. Awesome

My biggest concerns walking into this purchase was whether or not they'd fit my huge head and sound quality. Luckily they fit fine and they sound great. It takes a bit of getting use to especially when someone goes to talk to me. I keep thinking I need to take them off to hear someone talk to me but I don't. I can clearly hear both. Regardless if you're getting sound from the AfterShokz or from the outside, they all wind up in the same place before hitting your brain, so I have found myself competing the volume of the AfterShokz with the level of sound around me. Regardless these things are sounding great. If you put them full blast they do vibrate against your skin, and they can be heard a bit by others a bit. But at a moderate volume I've asked people if they could hear them and no one could so far.
