This product had an incredibly easy setup and the peace of mind to know that your personal home is safe for your family to live in is 2nd to none in my book. The once connected to the wifi and then to your app, it handles all fo your proper setup needs. After the item finished calibrating in my main family room, it allows me to understand the healthy/acceptable levels of various pollutants in everyones natural environment while my kids can play and I can rest easy. I would highly recommend this product for your house

Becoming a Necessity in a Modern Home

Devices like the Airthings View Plus are becoming a necessity in a modern home, which are generally well insulated and sealed from outside air circulation. Airthings View Plus provides monitoring for Radon, Particulates, Volatile Organics, CO2, Humidity, Temperature, and Air Pressure. Measurements are synced with the Airthings website so you track them over time. Particulates and V(olatile) O(rganics) are particularly important because we live in an area with occasionally high polution and particulates from forest fires. Setup was extremely easy. Figure out where you want to put it and pull out the tab protecting the batteries. The batteries are double A batteries and claim a two year life. Then, download the (IOS/Android) app, connect to the View Plus, configure location and the room name, and configure the display. The View Plus starts a seven day 'calibration' period to set the norms for that location. While it takes a week, it's much more realistic that a one hour or one day snapshot. The View Plus is also Alexa and Assistant enabled, although it currently doesn't do much beyond allowing you to request the current level of one of the seven monitored values. You can set notifications in the app when any of the monitored values go to unhealthy levels. The Airthings View Plus provides a 'hub' capability for other Airthings monitors, although for the hub function to be enabled the View Plus must be plugged into a (not supplied) USBc power source. It's possible to place monitors in multiple rooms and have them connect and report through the View Plus. My only real complaint is that the display only shows two air quality values that you select. It would be nice if there was a way to scroll through them, but I guess that's what the app is for. The Airthings View Plus is a completely unexciting device as long as nothing goes 'unhealthy', which is exactly as it should be. Being able to track home air quality should be unexciting. I'm waiting to see what happens with our next thermal inversion (high smog levels) or the next smoke drift from a forest fire.

Airthings is a must to have in every home. The set up was nice and quick! I was able to create an account and download the app. Once I set up the airthings in my kitchen; It took a week for the product to fully calibrate. It takes about a week so that it can provide an accurate reading for radon levels. The product comes with batteries that have a 2 year lifetime it also comes with a USB wire so that it can be connected as well. Having the app synced with the airthings is super useful; it notifies you when the air quality becomes poor and you need to ventilate the area. It's great to have the ability to be able to monitor your air quality from anywhere. It monitors pollen in my area, if there's any level of radon in our home as well as the amount of PM (particulate matter), CO2 (carbon dioxide), VOC (volatile organic compounds), humidity and temperature. Airthings app is super informative as It provide you with full descriptions on each specific air pollutants incase you are not familiar with it. I am glad to have this product as it has made me much more aware of the air quality in my home and how to make improvements.

    New to air monitoring

Last winter here in Texas we had a major power outage. Our power was out for three days and it was terribly cold. I have a gas fireplace but we had never used it before. The valve to turn on the gas was very tight and in the end I never got it working when I needed it. I decided I needed to make sure it was working for the next time something like this happens. And along with unsticking the gas valve I wanted to be sure we didn’t have excess carbon dioxide levels while using it. This was a very big concern for my wife who has never been around a gas fireplace. That experience led me to the Airthings View Plus. However I know very little about air quality and even less about monitoring air quality. But this device has made monitoring very simple and along with the Airthings phone app I have learned quite a bit about the many types of air quality this device can monitor. The hardware is attractive and feels very well built. It can be put almost anywhere you want. It comes with 3M tape so you can wall mount it without drilling screw holes in your wall. It can also just sit on a table or shelf. The display is black and while and is very easy to read. Setting it up is as simple as pulling a plastic tab to connect the two year battery and installing the Airthings app. For me the Airthings app is found on the Google Play store and there is an Apple version in their store. The reviews of the app for Android were not very encouraging. My experience was much better than those reviews. I found the app very easy to setup and use. There is quite a bit of information in the app and it links to even more details. Some like for Radon are quite detailed. Other subjects might only give you general information. But overall it is very helpful. Being a newbie I appreciate both the simplicity of the app and its efforts to educate me. One standout feature is the Radonmapp which is an interactive map of sensors from around the world. Although CO2 monitoring might have been my main adjective, the other air quality monitored for the View Plus is Radon gas, Particulate Matter, Humidity and Temperature. The app is very well laid out and I especially like the trends over time. I have had the device report that my air quality is bad but as you gather more trend information it will help you to know if there is something you need to be concerned about or just a temporary issue. My experience so far for the Airthings View Plus is very positive. I am learning more about the air quality in my home, what might be a cause for concern and maybe the best part is my increased awareness of the air we breathe. Both my wife and I are now working fulltime from home so this is more important than ever.

Easy way to track indoor air quality

The Airthings View Plus is a home air quality monitor that gives you the ability to track multiple things at once: radon, carbon dioxide, particulate matter, temperature, humidity, pressure, and VOCs (gasses). The unit resembles a home thermostat and can be mounted on the wall using the included 3M Command Strips. The unit comes with 6 AA batteries installed (Airthings says they’ll last for 2 years) and is ready to go. To set up and use the unit, you need to download the Airthings app for your phone and create an account. Once that’s done, you pair the app with your particular unit, and connect it to your wi-fi network. Wi-fi is necessary so that the unit can send you notifications via the app. This is very simple and worked for me on the first try. At this point, the unit is testing the air in your home. You place it near where you spend most of your time. After all, you want to know how good the air is that you’re breathing every day. The package comes with a small startup guide, but there’s very little information there beyond the steps I just described. The package also includes a USB cable that can be used to power the device, and doing that also allows you to use it as a hub for other Airthings devices. I only have the View Plus, so I did not try out that option. Setup in the app includes giving it a room name (kitchen, bedroom, etc.), turning on notifications for the various things it’s measuring, and choosing which two items can be on the screen. The unit includes a non-backlit screen that can only display 2 items at a time. You choose which 2 you care most about seeing. Waving your hand in front of the unit will show readings for other measurements, as well as a red, yellow or green light signifying overall air quality. While you can turn on or off specific notifications, you can’t customize the thresholds for alerts, these are preset based on Airthings’ recommendations. When first starting, the View Plus calibrates its sensors, with a notice in the app that the calibration step takes 7 days. With respect to things like radon, monitoring over time is valuable, and provides more confidence than the traditional 12-hour test. I received the View Plus in exchange for an honest review, so I waited the 7 days to give the unit time to settle in on the most accurate measurements possible. The View Plus includes temperature and humidity readings, and these were very accurate. Where it gets a little more difficult is with the other measurements. I have no way of independently verifying these measurements, so I have to trust that the View Plus is accurate. My carbon dioxide ratings tended to stay higher than I expected. The threshold that the View Plus considers high is 1000, and my base reading started at around 700. That meant that almost any change, such as another person in the room, would cause that number to rise quickly. I began to wonder how accurate it was, so I decided to do an un-scientific test. I left the View Plus outside for a few hours, and the carbon dioxide level went down to about 450. What does that mean? Well, the carbon dioxide level outside near the ground is normally around 400, so this told me that the Co2 numbers were not inflated. I was glad for that result, but that took me back to being concerned about the level in my house. My house has an open floor plan, which means the kitchen influences all the rooms on the main floor, where we spend most of our time, and where I positioned the View Plus. Cooking has a pretty drastic effect on the air quality readings. Things like particulate matter and gasses (VOCs) jumped up quickly when we did any kind of cooking, and typically came back down very slowly. The bottom line for a device like the View Plus is what to do with the data. Airthings recommends opening windows to improve circulation for most of the issues tracked by the View Plus. Seeing the high Co2 readings did cause me to open my window slightly to let some air in. This did help the situation, but can I really leave my window open when it’s freezing outside or sweltering in the summer? Since we have to cook, I’m also not likely to do much for PM or VOCs spiking temporarily. And this leads back to why I have the View Plus in the first place. To be honest, my main concern was radon, so I was glad that this turned out not to be an issue in my house, and I’m glad to be able to track this over time. Beyond that, I struggle to know how to apply my newfound knowledge of my home’s air quality. The iPhone app is useful, and can be set to provide notifications for the various things being measured. There is also a web-based dashboard that provides a wider view that is better able to provide historical trends. I really like this, it’s a great tool for longer-term monitoring. Supposedly, I should be able to integrate the View Plus with Alexa, but when I tried to do that, I got an error saying that functionality wasn’t supported. This was confusing, since Alexa went through the motions of linking my Airthings account with Alexa, but after several tries I gave up. I need to add a caveat here, and it may be significant. During the time I was testing the View Plus, temperatures in our area were somewhat mild. As a result, our heat did not have to run very much, and thus there was not a lot of air moving throughout the house. I’m looking forward to seeing if there’s much difference when the HVAC is running most of the day. If you’ve read this far, I assume you’re interested in buying an air quality monitor for your home. There are cheaper options available that seem to do just as good of a job. However, I didn’t find any that include radon monitoring. If that’s important to you, then I think this is the price level you have to consider. In my opinion, the biggest impact that the View Plus has is to make you aware of the quality of the air you’re breathing. If it causes you to open more windows to bring in fresh air, isn’t that a good thing? And if it allows you to know about dangerous levels of radon before too much time has passed, then it could just save your life. Although I liked the View Plus and its accompanying app, a few things caused it to drop in my overall rating: • Pricey • Screen only shows two measurements, and is not backlit • Doesn’t allow you to change the thresholds at which alarm notifications are triggered If I could, I think I would go with 3.5 stars, but I’m giving it 4 because it does what it says it does simply and cleanly, and it tracks radon, which its competitors do not do.

So far, I really like this sensor. It takes one week to calibrate so I have had limited time with it officially calibrated. Living up north in a home that must be sealed throughout the winter, radon is a big concern. In the few days that the radon sensor has been operating, the measured levels coincide perfectly with the times I have been able to open the windows vs when everything is closed. The other sensors including temperature, humidity, and PM 2.5 all appear to be accurate and agree with my thermometer and air purifier. I love the fact that the sensor can be mounted on the wall or placed on a table. It can be powered with batteries or USB power. If it is simply being used as the sensor, it just needs batteries. If it is being used as a hub for other Airthings devices, it needs USB power. While the sensor has a display, the app and other connectivity are ultimately the benefits of having this sensor over something less expensive. The app is simple to use and has a clean display. It easily controls the sensor’s onboard display so it is up to you what sensor data you would like to see. In my case, I am looking at radon and PM2.5 which are basically showing the risk of lung cancer vs allergy/asthma issues. In addition to the display and the app, this EASILY integrates with the rest of my smart home. I was able to create a notification that will sound an alarm and make an announcement in my home if radon exceeds the safe limits. Prior to this, I had no idea how easy that could be done. The user can choose whatever values they want as the upper or lower limit to take action. In my case, I could have it turn on the AC if it is too warm, turn on the heat if it is too cold, or turn on my air purifiers if there are too many allergens floating around in the air. The sky is the limit on what someone could do if they put their mind to it. Needless to say, I am really happy with the results and interconnectivity. I would definitely recommend this to a friend because it is so easy to use and it has a radon sensor. Lives can be saved if it warns people appropriately and gives them the opportunity to fix the issue.

I was glad to receive the Airthings View Plus air quality meter for one specific reason - Radon detection. More on that later. The device is an all white plastic unit that feels hefty and solidly built. It's a very basic design and is a little larger than I would have liked. Likewise the screen is basic but what I like is that it can clearly be seen from just about any angle and there is absolutely no glare. Also, the unit has a small LED on the front that indicates the air quality when you wave your hand in front of it. Beside the LED are two small holes and as you wave your hand and create a wind current those two small holes pick up the air and trigger the LED light to come on, either green, yellow or red to indicate the overall air quality. It is powered by 6 AA batteries or a USB power source. The package includes 3 command strips for mounting on a wall. The device measures 7 different parameters of air quality. I was most interested in the Radon detection capability. When we moved into this house Radon was detected before the sale. The previous owner put in a radon mitigation system. Over the last 13 years I have only checked the radon level once using one of those chemical detection kits that are a pain to use and you have to send in the kit for testing. The Airthings View Plus gives instant results (well, after a 30 day calibration for Radon levels) and I will rest more easy knowing that the Airthings View will alert me if radon levels start to climb. Installation of the Airthings app was straight forward and easy. Within minutes the View Plus was up and running and giving real time data. Airthings also has a web dash board for monitoring levels on your PC. I highly recommend the Airthings View Plus!

I picked this up because I have smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, lp detectors, but I do not have any type of standing Radon detector. I've done send off kits in the past, but but until recenlty, I had not seen running level detectors. I chose this over other single radon detecors because it has several other sensors. Along with Radon, this has carbon dioxide detection, particulate detection, humidity, volatile organic chemicals, temperature, and humidity. This really would have been nice to have a running carbon monoxide detectors also in it for the price, but not a deal breaker. That being said, so far, this is doing well with detecting things. I do have a standard barometer/thermometor elsewhere in the house and a particulate matter sensor on an airfilter I have, and this reads consistently with the other sensors. The app was quick to download and easy to follow instructions. Once you pull the battery strip and this turns on, it pairs quickly. Once set up, this starts to measure and you can turn the display on with the waive of a hand. It will display 2 of measurements on the screen, and in the app you can look at the most recent readings, or toggle over to a running measurement which has graphs also. The first 7 days are a calibration period, and counts down till it is done. This is a fairly expensive item, but mainly it appears the radon detector is what keeps it's price up, and this is still in the ballpark for those detectors solo or combination. Overall, if you want to invest in an item like this for air quality monitoring, this sets up easy and functions well. I do reccomend this.

This is a great product if you really want to see what's happening with air quality in your house. We just moved into a new house a few months ago and I have been having issues with congestion and feeling sleepy. This device was able to pull all the information needed of my air quality so we could figure out the issues. The first issue was very low humidity in the house, and the second issue we have is very high CO2 levels. Since finding out these two problems we were able to correct them in our house to make things more comfortable. The app works very well and has a timeline for each item it monitors. This is great helpful to see what is happening over time so you can make changes to your home. We noticed that the CO2 levels significantly increase in the evening. So now we just crack a window for a few hours to let in some fresh air. The app will also send you notifications of issues that are of concern so you can make changes. I hardly ever look at the display on the device as its just easier to view on the app. The display on the device seems to flash on and off a lot, but I did receive an email that a firmware update will be sent out to fix this problem. Overall I'm very happy with the air things device. I'm looking at adding a second one to my basement living room so we can keep track of all the common areas of our house. Even with just the one on the main floor of the house it has helped us fix the air issues in our home.

I received the Airthings View Plus Air Quality/Radon/Carbon Dioxide/Temperature/Humidity with Alexa and Google Assistant. This is a great product to have, it can measure seven different aspects of your air quality, including temperature, humidity, radon, particulate matter 2.5 (PM 2.5), carbon dioxide (CO2), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and air pressure. It runs on six AA batteries but can also be powered via USB. If you choose to power it via USB, it can be used as a hub with other Airthings products. It is also great for Allergy sufferers, as you can use its particulate matter sensors to monitor PM 2.5 triggers like dust, smoke, and pollen. This is very important, Airthings warns that the first seven days you use the Airthings View Plus, should be considered the calibration period. During this period, the VOC and CO2 sensors need to take some time to adjust to the space it's measuring, it will become more accurate over time. Download the Airthings app, after you pair your Airthings with your home WiFi network, the Airthings app records the data from your Airthings device and tracks the data over time. I would definitely recommend to all to be able to check your homes air quality!

Easy monitoring for some hidden hazards

I was never too concerned over the quality of air in my home. As long as it smelled OK and I had no noticeably unusual symptoms (like persistent drowsiness or headaches), I just trusted the routine monitoring built into devices my home already had. (Carbon monoxide monitoring is pretty standard in smoke alarms now, and we had a radon monitor in the basement as part of an existing radon mitigaton system.) Nonetheless, when I saw the Airthings View Plus, I was interested in what additional insights it could provide about the quality of air in my home. It would be immensely valuable if it could alert me to any unrecognized health danger, and at the very least, it could provide some extra piece of mind. (Plus, it would be an independent check on the accuracy of the radon monitor I already had.) So, I got one, and have been using it for a little over a week - Airthings recommends allowing up to seven days for it to adjust to your home's environment - and I'm quite pleased by it. The set-up process is very simple. Like many "smart home" devices, you'll install a mobile app and it will lead you through the process. You'll be asked to create an Airthings account, and then pair the physical device to your account. After this set-up, the mobile app remains easy to understand and has a nice, responsive interface. My one disappointment with the app is that the graphs of the air quality measurements are a little simplistic. For instance, I could see some spikes in carbon dioxide levels a few times during the first week, and was trying to figure out what activity in the house they might be correlated with. Dragging my finger on the graph showed the raw measured values - but not the time at which the measurement was taken, which seems like it would be just as valuable as the value. On the other hand, Airthings does have a rich Web-based dashboard that you can access from your account, and the mobile app even has a shortcut to it. The Web dashboard is very good - the graphs there are much more informational, and there's also an option to export the raw data to files you can work with in other programs. And speaking of integration with other programs, I was very pleased that Airthings supports a software API for third parties. I connected my Airthings account with my smart-home system of choice, Home Assistant, and can confirm that it all works smoothly so far. Not everyone might be interested in measuring their home environment air quality to this degree. But if you're someone who is, the Airthings View Plus is a great way to do it, and it's really simple to get started.

The Airthings View Plus air Quality Monitor was something that I was excited about and nervous for at the same time. The reason for this is because we live in an older home that we were able to remodel half of the home so far in. I was excited about this because it would tell me if the quality of air that my family is breathing in was good or not making me nervous to find out those results. Setting up the monitor is easy while following instructions. We had no issues with hooking it up to the wifi and setting up the app. Please read everything so you fully understand how it works and what it means when you get readings. When i first hooked it up the air quality in our home wasnt alarming but wasnt what i would like it to be either so through this small monitor i was able to be alerted about what i needed to fix in our home to make sure we are living with safe quality air. As a mom of 5 i think it is really important for all households to invest in one of these to protect their kids and themselves of anything harmful in the air. So after my findings we started using our air purifier more to help with the quality of the air and that has made a difference. Overall i think our biggest concern is from one of the rooms thag we have yet to remodel and i think once we can tear out that part of the roof and change out the old windows and boards i think it will improve the quality of air in our home. Overall im happy to have this to continue monitoring our home.
