Have I owned it long enough for this review? Maybe

Unit setup was quick and easy, using the AirthingsWave app. Pull the 'enable battery' tab out and follow the instructions. Took maybe 5 minutes.
I put the unit in a basement bedroom where it seemed to have the maximum utility for my family. Though I got it for the Radon testing, the unit also tracks Humidity and Temperature. Another nice feature of the app is that it tracks the data over time, and will present you a graph of those 3 tests for differing periods in time (48 hrs, Week, Month, Year), as well as the average for each. I now know I need to do something to better circulate the air in that bedroom.
A couple things to keep in mind for this review:
-I haven't had the unit long enough for it to require a recharge, though it does come with a USB cable (which honestly is pretty awesome the way most companies seem to want to nickel/dime you for such things lately)
-I have to assume the readings are accurate as I don't have anything to compare it against
I do have one requested feature addition:
-Allow a notification for a low battery. This doesn't seem to be an option in the Notification settings, but maybe it's already there and I haven't experienced it? I can't say as of yet.

Simply Does What It Promises - Very Well

The Airthings - View Radon Battery Wi-Fi Smart Radon/Humidity/Temperature Sensor is one of those products that just does what it promises. It promises to give you accurate continuous readings of your temperature, humidity, and radon levels - and that's what it does.
You do need to download the app and register an account in order to access the information. It gives immediate readings, though it indicates that it takes a month before you get the full benefit of the comparative reports.
I would assume the main selling point is the Radon readings as that is an important health issue. It offers peace of mind for those who have concerns. I have to admit it's nice to know that, for us, the levels are minimal.
The setup was simple, easy and relatively short. A nice addition is the fact that batteries are included. The unit can also run off a USB charger.
Bottom-line: If you're looking for a good, flexible way to monitor Radon, Humidity, or Temperature, you'll be pleased with this product.

Nice little smart radon detector

This is very easy to set up, and comes with everything you could possibly need. It even comes with 3 adhesive strips from 3M so you can mount it on a wall without using any tools if you choose to do so. This can be powered by batteries (6x AA, which it comes with), or a USB-C cable (which it also comes with). According to the paperwork, using the batteries should power it for 3 years, so that's what I'm doing now.
The set-up is fairly simple. Download the Airthings app, use that to connect to it and connect it to the internet, and you're good to go. You can use the app to check the readings for radon levels, humidity, and temperature. If you already have another smart device like a Nest, you really don't need anything other than the radon detection, so having the temperature and humidity is not really important, but it's nice that it's there.
The device takes about a week to start giving you accurate readings while it gets used to the environment. Mine started out saying 0.0 radon for the first day, then up by 0.1 each day for about 5 days before it started to fluctuate at all. Now, it moves between 0.3 and 0.8. They don't provide any guidance, but looking online I see that you should be concerned when readings are 2.0 or greater, and take immediate action if they are 4.0 or greater.
I have had a couple of times when it disconnects from the network, but that didn't last for very long. Otherwise, no issues.

Peace of mind for your home

Radon. Who knew? As a homeowner I've always thought that the radon service you undergo when buying a home was it. I assumed that once it was certified that radon was not present, you're done with worrying about radon. Not so fast. Once you open this product you quickly learn a lot about radon. Like for instance once you're home is cleared of possible radon exposure, it does not mean that it will stay cleared as radon can come and go. Certain changes in your homes foundation, current weather, and ventilation can cause radon levels to spike. That's where the View comes in. One wave of your hand will trigger the low voltage screen to show your current air quality in your home. You can also have it display the humidity in your home as well as the outside temp.
You need the app to choose what you want to display on the always on display. You can only choose two out of the three available metrics; Radon levels, Temp, and Humidity. I wish they could display all the metrics as switching in the app is a minor inconvenience.

Peace of mind

So, this is an interesting device, it can be used for peace of mind or if you are concerned and live in an area that is known for having large uranium deposits this can provide more than that. It also doubles as an air quality measurement device which is a bonus.
The device has a e ink display which I really appreciate as it can sit in any room and not give that that annoying display light that I end up taping over on smart devices that I can’t turn off the display. Also, white fits really well with our house so that is a definite plus with the device being white, it just blends right in. In the app the main screen gives you radon in pCi/L, humidity, and temperature. Once you click on the device itself you can see a time trends of radon levels over 2 days, a week, a month and a year. On mine it says I’m missing data as I haven’t had it that long. You can also get the same graph for humidity and temperature which is a really nice feature to add as radon isn’t exactly something that you really think about unless you have a concern, so it is nice that the devices has a few purposes.
So let’s talk real quick about radon vs radiation as the first question I had in my mind is this basically a Geiger counter. The simple answer is no,
Radon is a gas, when it breaks down it gives off radiation, this measures radioactivity which is in pCi. A Geiger counter measures the effective dose which is the absorbed dose adjusted for the radiation type and relative organ sensitivity (this helps set regulatory limits and is measured in sieverts). To circle around a little bit the absorbed dose is the amount of energy deposited per unity mass in an object (like a person and measured in rad). Basically, when a radiation wave goes through you, what got left behind. Basically, all this boils down to a pCi isn’t going to be helpful if you are thinking about this device pulling dual purposes for some unlikely event. This is more for recognizing if you live in an area with high natural radiation that you should be aware of for your health. From what I can tell it will tell you something in that event, just not something exactly useful.
With all that said, this looks great, that app is well designed and seems to work very well. I love that it is powered by USB C with back up AA batteries.

Simple, Clean Design. Works Well. Great Data.

This a fairly straightforward device that does exactly as advertised. It does it well.
Install was a breeze, as was set-up. Download the app, connect the two, connect to Wi-Fi, and that is pretty much it. As for the physical install, about what you would expect, there are some mounting holes on the back (or Command strips if you choose). I opted for battery power, as I run a lot of stuff with rechargeable batteries, but you can use an USB cable as well (though I would think that would be somewhat inconvenient). The one advantage of using the USB cable is the device becomes a Hub for other Airthings devices. This is not me, yet, but something to note.
The device itself has a rather nice, simple, and clean design. Kind of like a pill-shaped smoke detector. It was a bit larger than I was expecting but finding a spot for it should not be an issue for most. While I like the design, and the e-ink screen (I think), a few color options would be great.
Once up and running, the device monitors radon of course, but also humidity and temperature. Given all of the time I have been spending at home over the past few years, will be in the future, and with winter approaching, i am glad to be able to keep tabs on this, even if it has been off my radar in the past. Being able to also have constant and accurate humidity and temperature data on hand is a nice add.
The unit started giving me data as soon as it was setup, although I have yet to reach the 7-day mark when the data is supposed to level in, and the device is fully calibrated to its location. I really like that the screen can be changed to display different data, and that you can also set up a simple air quality check with a hand wave and corresponding color code. That said, I think my favorite part of the whole setup is the app. It is simple to use, and you can monitor everything. The number geek in me loves that you can see numbers and graphs for all kinds of time periods. It is going to be easy to spot possible problems or just changes to keep an eye out for.
I don’t know, in the end, I like this device. It is a bit pricey, but it is well-designed, well-built, the app integration is fantastic, and I like the look. I trust the data it is presenting (and like the extra data), and I appreciate the piece of mind it provides.

I'm glad I picked this up.
I bought my house about three years ago, and I made the mistake of going with a home inspector that my realtor recommended (first-time home buyer, and I didn't know any better). The home inspector made quite a few false claims, and I've had to deal with one issue after another since buying this house (electrical, plumbing, . . . etc.).
Given everything else that has transpired, I found myself seriously doubting the results of the radon test the inspector gave us, but I didn't want to throw away good money hiring someone else to re-test my house.
Enter this device.
For a fraction of the cost of a home inspection, I was able to monitor my own radon levels.
Setting up the device was incredibly easy. The hardest part was finding the correct app to use.
One little problem that I encountered is that it's very unclear where the charging port is on this device. There's a slot that would allow the charging cable through, but the port must be hidden somewhere under the back panel. Unfortunately, it's not at all clear how to remove this back panel.
I'm probably going to go ahead and risk breaking this device to open it up when I start to get low battery warnings.
The device takes 7 days to calibrate to its environment. During this time, I watched my radon levels creep up more and more.
By the 7th day, my radon levels were holding relatively steady between 5 and 7 (which is really bad - average for my area of the Midwest is 4 - the device started flashing warnings at around 2).
My home inspector had claimed that my radon level had a daily average of 0.29. Suffice it to say, I'll be investing in radon mitigation in the near future.
