Excellent Speaker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off this thing is a Beast. Aiwa has a hit on it's hands The bass is the best I have heard in any bluetooth speaker and that is what is lacking in all other BT speakers. Forget about Bose. Over priced little piece of junk!!! The Aiwa sound is amazing and NO distortion at any volume. Great stereo separation and clarity. I did a battery test and jacked up the volume to full and it lasted 3 full hrs. Not too bad for the battery size and just plug it in and keep rocking when the battery runs out. Best sounding bluetooth speaker for the price.

BUY PROTECTION
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.$353.09 plus tax For a speaker that expensive, I figured I should probably buy the protection, since it is a gift for my husband. Well, glad I did, the battery stopped working completely. The speaker will only work while plugged in, defeating the purpose of having a BT speaker entirely.

Spectacular!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This speaker is spectacular! The volume, base and clarity are things I would expect from a wired speaker, I've owned high-end Bose 901 speakers in the past and currently own large floor model JBL's. The Exos-9 blows them away. I find myself giving demos and raving about this speaker. I'm ordering another to link and pair.

Failed
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Right out of the box the blue tooth connection was very bad and wouldn’t work over a couple of feet away. After less than an hour the entire unit stopped functioning. Power was in but stopped playing and wouldn’t work after that at all.

There is no possible way you will dislike this speaker. Operates at full power unplugged 200 watts! You can link two together with a 50-foot blue tooth range and have true stereo sound. MUST BUY!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own a small CrossFit Box which the workout space is about 1000 Square Feet. There is a lot of noise going on there, and I was using an ION Bluetooth speaker, but the music was always drowned out and would get real murky if the volume was too loud. The Exos-9 was used last night for the first time and it is amazing! It filled the room with clear, crisp sound and some really heavy bass! No matter how loud i turned it up, the sound didn't distort. This is definitely designed to be more of a replacement for your typical home stereo system. All I can say is this product delivers.

Wow!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok so I have been looking up reviews and have listened to many Bluetooth speakers for my backyard for about 2 yrs now and haven't found anything that stood out or really wowed me... until I got this! My neighbor and I always compare our sound systems and have talked about the aiwa but we're hesitant to buy based on only reviews because a lot of speakers out there like Bose, sanos.. and a lot of others had great reviews but just didn't produce great sound with some bass.. just wasn't impressed as I wanted it in my backyard and be able to take in in after I was finished listening...well I can tell u buy this speaker! Blows the competition away even for double the price.. Today I received the aiwa and as soon as I turn it on and connected super easy to Bluetooth I was in awe! I decided to put it outside in the yard and only turned it up half way.. with in 5 min my neighbor came over wondering what I got.. he couldn't believe how loud and clear with deep bass he could here it over in his house.. he know is goin to buy 1..So glad I purchased it!! U won't regret

BIG Lifeless Class D Noise-box
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hate to bash the Aiwa Exos-9 since so many people seem to love it like it's their baby but it did not live up my expectations or the hype. I would only consider it a value of 5-star for $100 and 4-star for $150 BECAUSE of what it is - portable and powerful. It lacks high-end sound quality which drops it out of an A-League audio purist' speaker. Simply put, it is not pleasing enough to cost $300. I would try the Harman Kardan Go Play for $180 as a cheaper and possibly superior rival. I cannot recommend anything for sure in place of the Aiwa because I have no real life experience with anything in this class but from my research I would consider the Harman Kardan go play ($180), the Fluance fi70 ($500) and possibly the DiamondBoxx ($500-$1700) as the nearest competitors. For most casual listeners I think they will be pleased enough to enjoy the E9. That is not meant to be a put down but some people don't have elevated hearing like I do (my mom and one of my brothers are examples). However, audio enthusiast / purist will probably recognize the E9 as a ho-hum (bland, lifeless, run of the mill) speaker with some added bass for bass-heads. It is OK for a hard thumping speaker in a box but it isn't even as loud as I expected it to be. The music never made me forget I was listening to it out of a box because it has that box-congestion sound - like a nasally voice, this speaker has a box sound that it couldn't hide. This was the deal breaker for me. Build quality seemed sturdy and like care was given. The BT connectivity was fast as a snap. The unit is heavy and pretty large, thus I would call it a semi-portable speaker: You can definitely manage to take it with you but it will be a little bit of trouble doing so. The built-in equalizer and touchscreen are awkward amenities. Each time you adjust the EQ up or down the sound cut out then went back up to the set volume. I found this irritating. The touchscreen isn't very user-friendly or responsive, either. In fact, I had to rub my hand across the top back and forth before it would ever recognize I was trying to use the buttons. I never could quite figure out a fail-proof method to get the touchpad to light-up and respond, I had to keep tapping and rubbing it until it would finally wake-up. Not a deal breaker for me but a nuisance like the EQ. In conclusion, no amount of adjusting frequency bands is going to be enough for a speaker with the limitations that the Exos-9 has. Standing bass waves, the boxy sound signature, cheap Class D amplification and lifeless mid/highs held me back from keeping the E9 or considering it a deal at $250-$300. I am happy to have back the space it took up and my hard earned $$.

Superlative quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound quality of the Exos 9 is simply the best I have heard at that price point (or even twice price) . I am surprised, and frankly relieved, they did not price the speaker at the same as the Bose Sound Touch System IV. I can't wait to hear new products from the resurrected Aiwa brand.

Proper Performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 2 Aiwa - Exos-9 Portable Bluetooth Speakers that i link together in left / right stereo mode with my ipod / bluetooth. I place them on speaker stands for a day at the park or in the backyard, lift the stands up to a little above ear level while sitting. Both speaker equalizers are set the same (left to right - channel 1 @ +3db / channel 2 @ +2db / channel 3 @ +3db / channel 4 @ +3db / channel 5 @ +3db). The sound that is produced reminds me of my DJ set up using Yamaha/Nexo speakers, just not as powerful, clean and clear, and the sound carries a pretty good distance.

Not great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very disappointing. After reading reviews on many sites and watching many videos on YouTube. This Aiwa exos 9 is disappointing. I don’t think many of people that rate this highly don’t know sound. Honestly it’s not even that loud. I’ve set the equalizer to all positions and tried in Bluetooth and using the cord on my iPhone with iTunes. My phone turned all the way up and the speaker all the way up and it’s not great to me. I played all types of music still not great. No crisp highs and bass is disappointing. I will say it does not distort. I’ve had many stereos in my time and this don’t cut it. Not worth $300 I was at least hoping this thing sounded as good as the older mini shelf stereos and it don’t. I will be returning this. And I’m no longer interested in Bluetooth speakers. They are a joke.

Unit dead in two days
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this speaker after seeing so many positive reviews. It did work great for two days. Suddenly unit cuts off my music in the middle, after this its not turning back on. I tried all basic trouble shooting taking out battery and reinserting and tried different outlet and different power cables. No luck. Returned unit, since I loved the sound better than any other speakers I requested for replacement at Bestbuy. I will revisit my review if the replacement unit works good.

Limited Functionalities - A Lot of Bugs
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit has a big problem and that is when connected via Bluetooth to my laptop after a while starts stuttering and I have been going back and forth with Awia about this and they don't have an idea what is wrong. I even replaced the unit with another one thinking being an issue with a faulty unit but the problem exhibited itself again and stuttering painfully when playing music or video from facebook, youtube and other websites. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?
