Sturdy, comfortable, built for big and tall.

This gaming chair is awesome. Im a pretty big guy 6'6 340lbs and this chair fits me very well. Extra sturdy, nice and wide, comfortable, rolls well. I have had other cheaper gaming chairs that felt cheap, and fell apart quickly. This chair is rock solid, and much cheaper than some of the other big name chair brands that are built for big and tall. It is a true high back chair and fully supports my 6'6 frame. It looks great, sits comfortably, and it very sturdy. Assembly is pretty straightforward but I would recommend having a extra pair of hands to keep holes lined up when bolting on the arms and base piece. Very happy with this purchase.

    BEST DESK CHAIR EVER!

    |
    Posted .
Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.

This is literally the best chair I've ever owned! I've been looking for the right big & tall chair for a few years now. This is the first big & tall chair I've ever purchased and I hit the jackpot! I've usually owned and purchased average chairs from local stores (~ $200 chairs from Costco, BJ's, Staples, etc. I've had to return them all). The quality on this "AK MAX" literally blows everything I've ever owned away! AK seems to have many different models. This only applies to the MAX. (If their other chairs are anything as great as this chair, then they must be good.) As a big guy, I highly recommend this to all of the big guys out there that have been looking for a "big & tall" heavy duty desk chair. The seat is extra wide, super comfortable, high-density foam seat, and a really nice synthetic PU leather (seat & back). The back is extra wide and incredibly comfortable. The lumbar pillow feel amazing. The small head rest pillow is nice. The metal base and wheels look pretty good quality. The armrests are amazing. The tilt is awesome. The assembly was easy and straight forward. Installing the 4 screws on the back took me a long time. Having another person to hold the back steady, with the holes aligned, would help cut install time by a LOT. I lucked out at got it on sale for $329. I see it's not back yup to $519 -- wow! But this chair is even worth the $570, as long as it lasts at least 5 or so years. I'll be back to update the review after some time has passed to see how it holds up to extended use.

    BIG and TALL chair

The quality of this chair is top notch. The over all build of the chair is solid and the wheels are a dream sliding on hardwood flooring. The PU leather fells breathable and comfortable. Being 6'3 280 this chair fits great. In some seating positions my feet cant touch the ground, haven't been able to say that in a while. The overall test will be with durability over time. Would highly recommend this chair to anyone looking for big and tall. The Rock and Lock allows for the perfect seat angle, and the 180 back rest tilt offers the perfect seating set up. Would highly recommend this chair to anyone looking for big and tall.

Mostly great but has some serious flaws

I purchased 4 other chairs before deciding on this one, while this was the most expensive it was the cheapest acceptable chair. Biggest pro of this chair. All gaming chairs, backs are 21-25", but the usable flat part is almost almost always under 12.5" wide, Wide enough for most teenager and smaller adults. I'm 5'7" 170lbs I fit between in that size gap but my shoulders are squeezed together and slightly forward (very painful after 40min) The usable part of this chair's back is 13.9". This chair is wide enough so that if I center perfectly centered, nothing pushes on my shoulders. The seat cushion on this chair is firm, so firm I was going to return it. BUT turns out the softer seats start flatting as you sit on them. The other seats took about 2 hours before they're completely flat and all you feel is the metal base. This seat might be firmer but stays full 'inflated' for over 8 hours. So the firm cushion is only a con if you use your desk chair under 2 hours a day, anything longer and its a pro. The pleather, base, arms, base, wheels are, springs are all good quality. One negative this chair has is the seams. The stitching won't come apart but is very imprecisely made. Instead of stitching the edges together, there is a lot of extra material on either side of the stitching. Basically, every spot on the chair where 2 colors meet has a hard ridge running under it. It's just enough to leave a crease in you sit on it without clothes =P Another negative others reported is that the chair is front heavy. If the back is full upright and you balance on the front edge, the chair could tip forward. The bolt holes on the chair are wide enough to slide the seat forward/back for about an inch. If the chair is slid all the way forward its is still front heavy but won't tip by just sitting in the lip.

    Good chair

I bought this chair since it looks like I am working from home for the foreseeable future and my old one was killing me. I am pleased with it. It’s very solid and it is easy to adjust, and it took less than an hour to put together. The seat is firm and comfortable, and I was skeptical about the pillows but they are great. I am a, ahem, LARGE lady, and I was concerned about the fit, but it is perfect all around and now my back doesn’t hurt at the end of the day. Also I love purple. My only issue is with the arm rests. I like that they adjust so many ways, but the pad itself has an adjustable angle so it can turn in, out, or straight ahead, and it’s the only thing that doesn’t lock in place. If you put any weight on the arm at all, like to scoot closer to your desk, it will shift under your hand. It’s certainly not a deal breaker, at least to me, but it gets annoying.

Very average chair for an exorbitant price

I'm replacing an old Maxnomic Leader ($459) chair that I had for a few years because it started to peel and the base/cylinder/wheels all needed to be replaced. I decided to repurpose the chair and bought parts so I could give it to my daughter. I decided to look around and didn't hesitate to look at Best Buy so I could pick it up ASAP. I sit in front of my desk all day and needed something the same day. This was the chair I decided to go with. I'm a fairly hefty guy. I weigh about 260 pounds (not losing weight anytime soon) and I'm only 5'11. I looked around for a chair that had a larger max weight limit on the base and this one definitely fits its category. This one goes up to 390 pounds! The frame itself is aluminum, so I doubt you'll ever have issues later down the road with the FRAME itself. A few things that I'm highly disappointed about this chair... Oh, where to begin... 1.) My Maxnomic chair for around the same price had FULL FOAM all the way around the top head base of the chair. SOLID foam with no gaps. With this chair, you can feel the frame and it just feels like they put a small lining of foam underneath and thought that would be quality. This particular model boasts about having extra cushioning and its sad to see and feel that in a $400 chair. 2.) My Maxnomic had a very sturdy arm mechanism. Wherever you stopped it stayed in place whenever you needed to recline or adjust your chair. This chair wobbles a good 2-4 inches back in forth regardless of where it is. The weakness? One arm is held in by one screw in the center so it doesn't stay aligned with the base of the back portion of the chair. Maxnomic has a better backing plate to maintain alignment with the head base of the chair. Minor annoyance but still once again does not feel like quality. 3.) The lumbar pillow.... Where to begin... I can't get this thing to sit straight or sit in place regardless of how I adjust it. The straps just flat out don't work. I had to look online to find out how to keep it strapped because AKRacing does not provide a tutorial on how to do this. While it may be a simple step for some people, it simply does not for others. I tried steps on Youtube videos and I just couldn't adjust it to my liking. I'm often finding myself adjusting the pillow mid gaming session multiple times. The pillow itself also has this horrible dark black stain all over the front from when I pulled it out of the box. Once again... quality issues right out of the box. 4.) The headrest pillow... My Maxnomic was a soft plushy pillow while the AKRacing one is a hard leather-looking pillow that doesn't feel very comfortable. Also, it came out of the box and the pillow itself was lop-sided and never did expand correctly. Now it just looks like I sat on it and visibly looks terrible. 5.) Arm Rests... These are 4D armrests, but who thought it was a great idea to invent an armrest that you have to push forward to adjust the distance forward and back. My Maxnomic chair for almost the same price had a locking button on the side of the chair that allowed for smooth forward and back on the armrest without having to worry about the mechanism failing inside the armrest. Having to push this forward and back on this chair, I could easily see this wearing out quickly and becoming a problem later down the road. 6.) The cushion... is actually incredibly soft. Much more different than my Maxnomic chair. This is where AKRacing wins. The cushion is delightful to sit in... But there is one catch. The Maxnomic chair has a huge solid cushion. Is it stiff? Yes. I, unfortunately, had to replace my cushion with Maxnomic during my warranty period because the cushion itself started falling out from underneath. I also weighed a lot less too back then... The AKRacing cushion while it might feel much more comfortable, it feels much thinner and I'm more worried about this cushion over the length of time I will have this chair. I can simply put my hand underneath my chair and feel the bands underneath the seat bend and I can feel the cushion sinking in between the bands to help with support underneath the chair. 7.) Plastic Cover over arm mechanism is incredibly cheap on this chair. All it takes is a small tap and the plastic housing over your lever pops right off and out of place exposing the parts. It is also held in by plastic clips. I never had an issue with Maxnomic because of how I know that ALL of these chairs are super cheap to make and are super expensive to purchase, but I honestly expected better from AKRacing. I went on a limb and went with what was available. This unfortunately is definitely not worth the price whatsoever. The other main brands like DXRacer, Maxnomic, and, Titan all have much more quality chairs than this by a long shot. Unless you can grab some sort of discount on this chair, I would definitely look elsewhere. This chair should only be in the $200 range with how cheaply it is made.

I bought this chair primarily for office work rather than gaming and find it comfortable. The lumbar cushion is a must for remote work. The neck cushion does not always stay put and I find that I fidget with it occasionally, but otherwise it is fine. Assembly is possible for one person but would be infinitely easier with two. But the end result is I am not nearly as stiff after an eight hour workday. Expensive, but worth getting, especially if it's on sale.

As a heavy guy 275lbs, this chair is perfect. The seat is much wider than most seats you seen in a gaming chair. The lumbar pillow is actually more beneficial than I thought it was going to be. You can really tell a difference in your back after gaming for a few hours with it. If you were in the market for a new chair you will definitely not be disappointed. I highly recommend this chair.

Very nice gaming/lounging chair. Fairly simple to build and Is good quality. Very comfortable and highly adjustable to get an exact fit/layout. Heavy weight friendly, it seated my 6'1 300lb brother no prob. I'm 6'4 200 and it fits length wise as well. It is a bit pricey tho, to pricey in my opinion.

Fixes problems with the Core EX-wide chair...

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.

I tried out the highly-acclaimed Akracing Core Series EX-Wide chair first. The steel "wings" on the sides really killed that chair for me. So, i looked for something that didn't have those wings - lo and behold, the Max chair. After breaking it in, I can sit in the Max chair for many many hours straight with no issues, in any sitting posture I'd like (I like to keep my legs relaxed and apart). A bit pricey, but worth it. I'm also very glad that I bought the chairs from Best Buy instead of an on-line only storefront, because then I would have been stuck with the chair that didn't work out for me - it would be quite difficult mailing in an already-assembled chair. One thing to note: do not get this chair if you are a short person - I am 5' 11 and it works well for me, but I also have the chair one notch above the lowest available height.

This chair is great. I am a big guy and I go through chairs about every year and half. They start to lean on me and can no longer be tightened up. I do not see that being a problem with this chair as it has a steel frame and bolts together solid. It did not take long to put it together and so far I have had no issues with it flipping over due to the offset of the post. You just have to be mindful not to sit on the edge of the seat. The reason I am giving it 4 stars is because of the arm rests. They are not the most comfortable as they are plastic covered. I fixed this issue by adding padded covers to them and they are now great. With a Chair at this price range I should not have had to do this so I am reducing it by one star. Would I purchase this again? Yes in a heartbeat even at full price.

purchased the large size expecting a robust piece of furniture that would stand up to abuse not that difficult to put together and has satisfied all users so far you should be a taller person for this chair

    Not a great chair

The center of gravity is too far in one direction and the base legs are not long enough so this chair tends to want to tip you out of it onto the floor. I've seen others complain about the issue and they are definitely correct. The front edge of the seat seems to bend far more than it should so if you don't have the seat tilted back a bit you feel like you are going to slide out of the chair. The seat bottom is a lot harder than it really should be. My previous DXRacer Boss (sadly they no longer make it) was a way better chair for larger people than this one.

    Chair in new Condition

Just received the chair and I checked each piece with a flashlight. Just wanted to be sure nothing was damaged. Every thing looks good except I'm missing 2 screws that hold the side cover on the seat. I'll write to AKRacing about the screws. Hope they will send them to me. This chair is replacing a Ewin Racing chair that's not even 2 years old. The recline mechanism broke and have contacted Ewin several times about my problem. They said yes it's broke but we don't have the part. It's been 3 months. Don't buy an Ewin Racing chair horrible customer service.

    Feels like Star Trek chair

After trying to find a chair that offered everything I needed and wanted this is it. I’m a big girl and I wanted a chair that would last for a long time. When sitting in chair I don’t feel cramped or that I have to squeeze myself into. In fact, I almost feel like Lilly Tomlins character Edith Ann sitting in this chair but in a Star Trek universe

    Akr chair

The chair itself is great. I’ve had it for about 3 months now I’m a bigger guy at 270. I can sit comfortably and even pull my leg under me which I can’t do in most chairs. I don’t feel like it’s going to break anytime soon. My only issue with it is the lack of arm rest mobility. I wish that they could slide in another 2 inches or so. It would improve so much as I like to have my elbows in close when I play and they are just a little for out. Other than that, this chair is amazing, can sit in it for hours and no soreness or issues anywhere
