Comfortable and yet painful

AK Racing makes some quality built products. This is however my second attempt to own one. Suggested Heights and Weights for their products are very skewed. I am 5'8" and found chairs rated for someone 5'5" to be far to high for me.
This chair is also rated for 5'5" but I checked the detail measurements before ordering it and it is actually a great height for me with a good seat depth too, though not with the over sized lumbar pillow that tends to move way to easily, so I simply removed it after trying it as it is option.
The chair itself is very solid construction and is comfortable to sit in for way too many hours, though after a week it has felt like it is compressing a bit so time will tell.
The biggest issue are the wings on the sides of the chair. Looking online a lot of people are complaining about them. Height and Angle are not listed in the official measurements. And distance between them is only measured for the base of the seat. I was debating between the SX and this chair (Masters Premium) and now seemingly mistakenly chose the more expensive one. What I didn't notice at the time is the wings are significantly higher on the Masters Premium than the SX and at a much steeper angle. This has proven to be extremely painful as the cushioning on the wings is thin and compresses easily allowing the metal frame to dig in to my legs if they are even slightly spread apart. If I could manage to not relax and keep my legs touching the entire day this wouldn't happen, but that is impractical. As the wings are metal framed instead of hard foam this makes it very painful in a short period of time. So be aware if you don't always sit with your legs (and possibly knees) touching.
Some of those complaining online about this issue have talked about using a mallet to bend the metal and have thus resolved the issue. Others have given up and simply returned the chair.
I honestly don't know what I will do now as I bought the chair during a sale and would end up paying more for the cheaper SX. May give up entirely on AK Racing and go with another brand like Secret Lab (my other primary choice, but not sold at Best Buy, and their measurements aren't as clear to combine like AK Racing, though AK Racing doesn't have any measurements on the chairs wings).

I just received and assembled this chair. I spent a full day working in this chair. This chair was easy to put together. Instructions were very simple Idiocracy. The chair appears to be well built. Very firm and mostly comfortable. I am a 6‘1“ , 250 lb male. I have broad shoulders, 41” waist and find the seat narrow. A bit uncomfortable in the thigh area. If I could get this chair in authentic leather & have a deeper, adjustable seat I would have given this chair 5 stars. I will update later after spending a few months daily in his chair.

This chair is expensive and but made of very high quality material. It looks great and feels just as comfortable. The instructions could be a little more detailed, but it goes together easy.

Really good chair. Comfortable, has adjustable arm rests, the quality on it is really good as well. This was a massive upgrade from my old office type chair and I should've bought it sooner.

The chair has quality parts but the instructions are horrible! I ended up with a part that had no explanation as to where it goes. The seat is too hard so I bought an orthopedic cushion for it from Amazon. The small pillow keeps sliding out of the center position and the lumbar support always has to be repositioned.

This chair is comfortable and feels sturdy. Overall, great upgrade from my cheap-o chair I had before. My complaints lie with the assembly, the instructions don't always accurately tell you things (like telling you screws are packaged separately when they were actually already screwed in on the body of the chair), or things lining up just a little bit off and requiring a little bit of creativity to get in correctly (which is true of every chair Ive ever assembled anyway.)

If you’re a casual or hardcore gamer this chair is for you. This chair makes a statement. It’s beautiful and very comfortable. The quality is also very great. It’s does it’s job but I wouldn’t pay full price because it’s expensive. (I got it through the 24 hour deal @250$). The only downsides is that it’s big and heavy for a smaller than average man . I feel tiny in it but it’s still comfortable and it’s fine by me.

This chair has been incredibly disappointing. About 6 months in, the rubber covered armrests started self destructing. They split on the sides and the one just continued. I tried contacting the manufacturer and they weren't interested. I tried glueing it, but that lasted about a week. It's like the material inside was expanding further than the coating could withstand. I'm not a person that picks at stuff, so it's not from that.
The foam padding on the frame has worked itself off the part your legs contact so it's just leg on metal frame with the faux leather between.
The pillows exist and that's about it.
The frame bends upwards on the sides forcing your legs to be really together. Not designed for men in mind? It's kind of like someone was designing men's underwear and just used a mannequin to design it.
The best thing about this chair is that it's encouraged me to go with another brand and never look back.

So I just put this together, Does seem like a well made chair, I think MSRP is to much to pay for these. Although even on sale it's not cheap in my book, This is the most I believe I have spent on a chair to sit in front of my computer. Wish it was cat proof but I'm sure it wont be. The PU leather is soft and to me so far comfortable. As others have mentioned this is not a wide chair. I'm far from skinny but my hips are not wide and I can still feel the side wings on this chair. they dont dig into me but I can feel them, so if you are at all wide in the hips I would say look elsewhere. There isn't a whole lot of real-estate on the chair seat, they could have probably put a full inch around more to make this chair better for more people. I know they sell other chairs that do this but they could have made it better for this chair. Beyond that it does feel solid and I would look to purchase on a sale, after purchasing I searched around and the absolute cheapest I found it was sold for in the last year was $50 less then what I paid. So the price I paid wasn't bad I suppose.

I have been working from home for a few weeks now. My back had been really bothering me. After only a few days, this chair has been a great solution. It was easy to assemble. Really well cushioned seat. Lumbar pillow provides great support additional support, Rock it and lock adds an awesome recline feature. I work 8 hour shifts and can still game on it after! It is pricey but I got it on a great deal.

Giving this 4 stars because I received a defective one with a 2" cut on the seat, spent 3-4 hours just trying to get through customer service to have it replaced, it was very frustrating.
Overall, the chair is very well built, good quality, and super comfortable with a lot of adjustments. For the price I paid, it was an excellent value. Wait for this to go on sale.

The Chair is Amazingly comfortable, and was purchased as a Gaming/office chair. I mostly work with electronics repair work and sit at a couple different benches. The smooth wheels allows for very easy movement. Theyre not your typical crappy office chair wheels. The chair is also very comfortable. Although the chair is way overkill for something of a office chair, I sit in it just as long as any hardcore gamer would. I do not get the same body fatigue or discomfort sitting in this chair i would from other even "High end" desk chairs. So when im done with my work and do get to gaming i dont need to find a different, more comfortable chair, I'm already in it.
The only Cons i would say about the chair is the arm rests are made to also move back and fourth, and swivel in and out a notch. I would imagine there are people who would find a use for this. However, I cannot and find it a bit annoying when theyre twisted or turned in the improper way or move when I grab them to spin the chair around to sit down in it.

The Perfect Chair Does Exist

After over a year of daily use for work and gaming this chair does not squeak, the leather has held up and has not faded, stained or torn/cracked, and it is still incredibly comfortable. The chair is supportive enough that spending hours sitting in it does not cause pain or soreness. There was an initial break in period of about a month or two before it was really comfortable.
I purchased this chair on sale from BB at the end of 2019 for approximately $275.

I waited a few months to write this review to ensure I used this chair to its fullest before providing feedback. Before I used this chair, I had a cheap chair for my home office that caused major back pain after long term use. After buying this chair, I can sit in it for a 8 hour workday and even play some pc games after work and not feel any back pain at all whatsoever. Being able to adjust the armrests so precisely also helped get rid of my wrist pain at my desk. Assembly of this chair was fairly straightforward. It was a little tricky trying to line up the screws to the holes that are in the sides of the chair, so I recommend using a flashlight to help verify that you are not just tearing a hole into the side of your chair. I assembled it alone so it is doable, but I recommend having a second person hold pieces in place while things are being screwed together. Once assembled, it is as solid as a tank. I do think the price is kind of steep and recommend picking it up while it is on sale.

Well.. I don't really know what to say about it other than its a chair.. Yes, its a chair..
BUT.. it's no ordinary chair..
Friends, this wonderful and masterfully crafted piece of fine craftsmanship is serious business.. Not for the casual gamer.. If you routinely spend at least 7-9 hours at a time gaming or even working at your computer you NEED to have a decent chair with GOOD lumbar support and plenty of options for adjusting things like posture and cushion placement, reclining, adjustable armrests, height adjustments etc. you know? all the bells and whistles. Because if you are spending this much time in a bad chair you are actually hurting yourself and causing so many long-term back and neck problems like "tech-neck" and whatnot.. looking like quasi-modo because you didn't realize that you are hunched over so severely to make up for your chair not being very good..
I sound like an infomercial? huh?
okay, my final verdict after being THAT guy that spends THAT much time at a desk.. yes, there ARE better chairs out there.. But this is such a great chair for this price. The quality of the stitching is superb and I am very VERY happy with the materials used, I would have preferred REAL leather.. but the "faux leather" used is actually very nice and is very strong. I don't have problems feeling too sweaty as long as I use a seat cover, but that is just personal preference, objectively the material they used is really breathable and doesn't feel like a vinyl or leather chair that sticks to your skin and feels all sweaty and gross after a minute.. nope.. not like that at all.
The lumbar support is a highly adjustable and well angled cushion that is attached with elastic straps making it easy to move and low profile, I don't feel the straps or anything. There is also a cushion higher up that is VERY easily adjustable, its really cool how they did it, it does feel a bit cheap, but it is really durable and purposely made to be a bit "floppy" so you can move the cushion where you want it without it being "pulled" by an elastic band.
The whole thing reclines back 90*!! It will recline COMPLETELY like a bed.. And it feels very sturdy too, I've actually fallen asleep in it once like this and it wasn't that bad.. I woke up fine, and not in pain.. lol! So it is VERY comfy!
All in all id give it an 8/10, and it would be 10/10 but I cant give it that in good conscience as it is JUST a chair.. It's really not THAT revolutionary nor is it using any new or amazing materials or design features? The only reason it costs $500+ is the name and the designation of "gaming" chair? But don't let this turn you off of checking this quality made, and VERY comfy chair! Its not THAT overpriced or anything? Best Buy actually is probably the best place in town for stuff like this? I am very happy with this chair, and I would definitely recommend it! Just make sure you search around first for the features you want?
ps. someone asked me if it had speakers in it. nope. no speakers. Same person also asked if it had a foot rest built in that folds down? nope, no retracting foot rest. also, you DO have to assemble it yourself.. its not that hard if you have basic IKEA experience? but be prepared to spend a min putting it together and torqueing down screws.
