A Very Comfortable Office Gaming Chair

I was debating whether or not to purchase this chair over the Nobelchairs Hero. What pushed me to buy this chair was not only the unavailability of the Hero, but also the attractive price of this chair at the time of purchase (it was on sale). From all my research and after narrowing down my choices to Nobelchairs, Secretlabs, and AKRacing, I decided to pull the trigger and take my chances on purchasing two Onyx Deluxe (Real Leather) chairs. To my delight, this chair was better than what I was expecting.
The chair was packaged really well. Unboxing the chair and assembly was super easy. I was able to put my chair together in about 20 minutes.
I've been using this chair for about a month now and can honestly say that I have no regrets. The seat is very comfortable and has been from the very beginning. Others have claimed that the chair is too firm and needs to be broken in. While the chair does start off a little firm, it wasn't so bad to where the chair felt uncomfortable. While comparing my primary chair to my second chair that hasn't been used, I can say that the chair did break in and has softened up. It's also worth mentioning that If you're looking for a chair that's soft and something you can sink into, this chair is not for you. This chair is very solid, stable, and supportive. What it is not is a very soft living room chair that will put you to sleep.
For me personally, since I'm only 5'8", I find the headrest pointless. It may be beneficial to taller people, but while sitting, my head rarely ever touches the back of my chair. In addition, I tried using the lumbar pillow for a couple weeks but stopped mainly because I kept having to position the pillow every time I got up and sat down. It would be nice if this chair had an adjustable and built-in support like the Nobelchairs and Secretlabs chairs, but I'm personally fine having a chair without lumbar support.
The armrests are adjustable in various ways and also pretty comfortable. They are firm but slightly cushioned; let's just say that they aren't rock-hard plastic armrests. To be honest, I actually purchased a memory foam cover, but my elbows would ache WITH the cover than without. This goes to show that the armrests were already built for comfort and support. It's also worth mentioning a slight design flaw. While standing up, I typically push up and off the armrests. Since there's no way to lock them, the armrests will occasionally slide from where I had them adjusted.
While comparing this to my Herman Miller Aeron, which broke after having owned it for over 15 years, I can say that I'm happy with the Onyx Deluxe. There's no way to make an apples-to-apples comparison between the AKRacing and Herman Miller, but what I'd like to compare is the difference between a fabric chair and a mesh chair. Even with my A/C on, I noticed that my legs and back would be slightly more sweaty with the AKRacing. I'm sure the problem would be worse with a chair made with PU Leather or some other unbreathable material. Since the Onyx Deluxe is made with real leather and is more breathable, the SLIGHT perspiration isn't really that big of a deal to me. If you are bothered by perspiring, stick with a mesh chair.
Height adjustment, tilting, and reclining this chair are all very easy and straightforward. The only thing that wasn't straightforward was figuring out how to adjust the "forward tilt", which wasn't clearly explained in the instructions nor on the AKRacing website. After searching online, I discovered that the forward tilt could be adjusted by loosening the knob under the chair. I must say that you MUST be careful not to lean too far forward while making this adjustment otherwise you'll end up faceplanting and the chair will shoot out from behind you (no this did not happen to me, but I could see it happening since I noticed a slight stability issue, which could be noticed with ANY chair while leaning forward).
Overall, I'm very satisfied with this chair. It feels great and looks excellent. Although it's marketed as a gaming chair, its design gives it a look that's also suitable in an office. If you don't need a built-in and adjustable lumbar support and don't have a perspiration problem, I would highly recommend this chair to anyone who wants a modern looking chair that's both solidly built and comfortable.

I had some time to shop for a gaming chair that can double as a home office chair as well, but unfortunately realized that most chairs in market are made in China of bonded or synthetic leather and not very good quality. ALracing gaming/office chair although also made in China has real leather on front and back is made of synthetic leather, but having a steel frame with a 10/5 warranty was a game changer. Best Buy had a great price compared to online prices including manufacture online store. Product was in stock and shipped quickly. Only reason I gave this a 4 star instead of 5 star was because packaging was received open and in terrible chape, but fortunately product inside was in good condition.

I really like the height of the back. I can put my head back and it's supported. I also like the way you can adjust almost everything on this chair. It is leather so it should look great for years to come. But for me there are some downfalls. The seat needs to be a little longer to support my upper legs. I'm 5ft 9inches. The lumbar support doesn't attach so I was always having to readjust it and I finally got rid of it. The padding is very hard and I thought I just needed to "break it in". After all this time I just can't set in it for longer periods of time without my rear hurting.

I have been using this chair at the office for several years now. It is so well made and comfortable, I just bought another to use at home. Great for long sessions at the desk, whether working or gaming. It looks very professional too, which is nice for the gamer who also needs to consider work-at-home virtual meetings. The real leather is well worth the upgrade.

This is a comfortable chair, with a build quality that’s made to last. Only 1 issue I have, is that twice, I’ve leaned forward after reclining, and for some odd reason, when ive shifted my weigh to the front edge of the chair, the chair flipped on me, and i fell on my butt - hence the 4/5

High quality, comfortable, and fits a 6'7" person. Assembly was straight forward. The only issue I had was that the headrest had shifted in transit and was compressed and deformed. It took several weeks for the foam to decompress. The headrest is now close to its original form.

Fantastic Chair - A Few Minor Nit-Picks

Now that I've been working at home far more often, I'm spending a lot more time in my office; working by day and gaming by night. A few years ago, my very old office chair started to fail in different ways ... some adjustment levers stopped working, and eventually the plastic on one of the arms split open. I taped up the arm and lived without certain adjustments, but I knew that I'd eventually need to replace the chair. Well, I finally did ... and I chose the Akracing Office Series Onyx. I've now been using it for a few weeks and I can honestly say that I didn't waste my money ... it was the right chair for me to buy.
First of all, the chair arrived in a large carton that was impeccably packaged. Every part was carefully wrapped and/or boxed, and secured in it's own section of foam. Nothing was missing. Included in the package was a pair of white gloves (to prevent oils from your hand from transferring to the chair during assembly) and the necessary wrenches for assembly were also included.
Assembly turned out to be fairly easy, but I think the instructions could have been a bit more clear. The instructions themselves are illustrations-only, and are meant to cover a few different models. So for each assembly step, you have to make sure you're looking at the correct illustration because there are distinct differences between the models. Akracing does provide a web link that you can go to for more-detailed, text-based instructions, but I didn't try that. I did however manage to get the chair assembled and, looking back at it now, it wasn't very difficult. As I said though, you have to examine carefully the illustrations in order to understand exactly what it is you need to do.
Let me say that this chair is very comfortable. I'm 6'-2" tall and weigh a little under 170 lbs. This chair is more than enough for me. I'm able to slide the arms of the chair out to accommodate my rather long arms, and the headrest is high enough to for me to actually rest my head. As for the width of the chair, it's easily enough for folks much bigger than me. The leather is very comfortable and the various levers let me adjust the chair perfectly to my liking. (You can even recline a full flat 180 degrees, although I don't see myself using that feature very often.)
One thing that I wish was a little better is the lumbar support. Actually, it's just a lumbar pillow that you can choose to either use or not use. There's no way to adjust it (other than perhaps trying to position it in a different place behind your back). It's not attached to the chair in any way, so it often "falls down" whenever I get out of the chair. As for it's comfort, it provides "OK" lumbar support, but there are times I wish I could adjust it.
It's certainly a nice touch, but don't confuse it with chairs that actually have built-in lumbar support. This isn't it.
Overall, this is an extremely well-built, sturdy, and comfortable chair that should last me many years to come. I chose the real-leather model and I do believe the chair is worth the price. Even with the few nit-picks I mentioned above, I would certainly consider buying this chair again.

Okay you work from home folks, this chair is saving my back and comfortable all day long. I could have bought a higher priced office chair but not with these features. It does take some effort to assemble but not terrible. Recommend two people to assemble. I have had for over a year and it has held up great.

Having real leather was top of my list for an ice chair. Quality of this chair seems top notch. It's very comfortable, recline is nice and the adjustability of the arms is nice. Assembly was easy. Including a pair of white gloves was a nice touch.
Only nitpick was the small package with the hex wrenches and bolts ipod and they were scattered inside.

If you’re looking for a gaming chair but have an office style room then this is the chair for you. I’m 5’8 so the headrest is practically useless, unless you have the chair in a recline position. Regardless it’s a great chair and very comfortable.

Had a synthetic leather gaming chair before this and it began to peel and make a mess so I decided to get a proper one. This chair is a bit stiff not the softest but the construction of it I know this is a high quality chair and will last the test of time

Its a nice chair and a spendy one too at 800 bucks. The leather covering is very nice. The chair has a firm seat and I think a younger gamer that is much lighter than I at 250 lbs needs more cushion. So its a great gamer chair.
