I love Sci-fi but this movie plot is just bad! The actors do things that make no since. It's just not believable even in a Sci-fi world. I hated it! Waste of money.

Aliens on Blu-Ray - Everyone will hear you scream!

Personally, I think 20th Century Fox knocked it out of the park on this DVD set! If you are a bog fan of the Alien series this is thee DVD set to own! All of the movies have been cleaned up and remastered for Blu-Ray so all of them look incredibly crisp and clear but I noticed this more on the first two films, Alien and Aliens. The care and effort they took in cleaning up the films and bringing them to a whole new level was incredible! If you are one of those people that really notices the difference between standard DVD and Blu-Ray you will notice how much clearer the picture looks between the different formats! If you already bought the Alien Quadrilogy [9 Pack] on standard DVD then a majority of the special features and extras will not surprise you because a majority of them are re-used from that set. BUT, if you're getting this for yourself, or even as a gift for another person, and they don't own any of the movies on DVD they are going to be BLOWN AWAY by all the special features, behind the scenes footage, deleted scenes ... all the extras are incredible! So ... should you buy this? If you are a hardcore Alien fan or don't already own an Alien DVD collection ... ABSOLUTELY! However, if you already own the Alien Quadrilogy [9 Pack] DVD set then you'd basically be buying this set for the Blu-Ray aspect. My opinion is that the Blu-Ray REALLY sharpens and clears the movies up ... but then again I really notice the differences between standard and HD definition movies and television ... but if you don't or can't then this may not be the way to spend your money. I hope this review helped you!

    Blu-ray's Best

I have to say that I am a brand new inductee to the Alien franchise. I'm twenty years old, and after loving Prometheus in the theatre this past summer I immediately bought this set as soon as it went on sale. (I got away with it for $30.) Getting four Blu-ray movies (with their respective special editions included - hint, hint Peter Jackson) for that price is a steal in and of itself. And boy have I been missing out on some stunning movies. Alien has jumped to my Top 5 list at the very least. Aliens is a great follow-up, although I'd say the two are completely different in genre. The last two are certainly weaker but still enjoyable in the same way watching deleted scenes from a movie makes them more enjoyable. Speaking of, this set comes with a hefty, hefty supply of bonus features. I still haven't slogged through all of them (I keep wandering back to my Prometheus Blu-ray) but they are certainly comprehensive. The bonus discs, however, are in standard DVD definition. The picture, though markably better on the first two in the quadrilogy, is beautiful. Particularly in Alien, the blacks are inky and deep and the edging is razor sharp. Sound is equally robust throughout all four films. It's designed to make you jump - and it will. The packaging itself is very eye-catching without being ridiculous. I prefer the book-style packaging here to the fold-out style so that was a definite plus. This allows for much more enjoyable box art and a more sleek looking design. Removing the discs is a little weird, though. Blu-rays are designed to be scratch-resistant, so I have no problem sliding the discs in and out of the book. However, I'm much more cautious doing so with the DVD bonus discs. This was definitely the find of the year for me. Way to go. New Alien convert 100%.

Alien being one of my favorite films of all time, I am a bit partial. The Blu-ray upgrade is amazing. If you are a fan of the franchise or just the first two like so many say, this set is for you. The original Alien is one of the best restorations I have ever seen. Sound is perfect!! Having two versions of each film (just like the Alien Quadrilogy dvd set) is worth shelling out the cash for a set that raises the standard for Blu-ray anthologies. The Terminator franchise needs this type of attention...especially T2!!! The Alien Anthology on blu-ray has spoiled me from this point on....my expectations for restorations on blu-ray are now so high they outmeasure the deep reaches of space......where noone can hear you scream......

    Jaw-jutting...er, -dropping set

I'm up to 100 Blu-ray sets; "Alien Anthology" remains my favorite. That should tell you something right there, but I'll elaborate anyway. Nothing new can be said about the films themselves...the first two are genre masterpieces, and the latter two are imperfect but interesting genre exercises. Horror, science fiction, action, dystopia, industrialism, human sexuality, gender, sociology - these are among the genres, themes, and concepts that the various Alien films play with to one degree or another. So, the films themselves are well worth checking out at least twice apiece (once standing on their own, a second [or third, in Alien's case] time supplemented by the fabulous audio commentaries). And then there are the extras. Docs and pods and storyboards, oh my. You could lose yourself for a week if you wade into the bonus material in the Alien Anthology. Each film garners a feature-length-plus documentary that covers everything from the first seed of an idea to the reaction following release from critics and audiences. Go check out a professional review of the set somewhere to get the gory details, but for now, suffice to say that there isn't a single aspect of the four Alien films left uncovered by the Alien Anthology. Truly a comprehensive set, this puppy should be in every film fan's collection. Oh, and a note on the packaging: it's a digipack with sleeves, which is moderately annoying, but given the endurance level of the coating on a Blu-ray disc, it's fine as long as you're being careful sliding the discs in and out. Bonus points for a supremely sturdy and attractive package.

    The Definitive Alien Purchase

    Posted .

Contents: 6xBluRays (4xMovie, 2xBonusExtras) Absolutely beautiful packaging. The six discs are housed in a superb quality, full color hardcover book with exclusive beautiful photos on every page and interesting blurbs/intros on every other. The first four discs contain the first four Alien films; each disc contains a Theatrical Cut and a Special Edition/Director's Cut with the exception of Alien 3. Alien 3 is a special case- its disc contains a Theatrical Cut and an Assembly Cut. Most people thought Alien 3 (Theatrical Cut) was atrocious, but that was because the director was treated with heavy distrust and producers interfered with his vision every step of the way. However, the person in charge of putting together this anthology found the diary of the director along with countless unused footage and decided to piece together Alien 3 as faithfully to the director's original vision as he could. Thus, the Alien 3 Assembly Cut was born- trust me, it's a very different movie (imo a much better one) from the Theatrical Cut as whole plotlines and radical elements are added. The last two discs are pure bonus/extra/behind the scenes. There are a PLETHORA of extras and take up literally more than two days to get through, so resr assured, fans will not be disappointed. I have not personally watched through them all, so I can't say more. This is the definitive purchase for the Alien franchise. It is the absolute perfect gift for an Alien fan or anyone who loves SciFi and Horror. What are you waiting for? Grab it ASAP!

    Perfect Blu-Ray 6 Disc Set!

Amazing collection, the box is even amazing, it almost looks metallic, like if a green foil was embossed onto the case. The booklet that the discs come in is very nice looking too! Included are 2 Blu-Ray discs loaded with extra features! ( over 50 Hours worth ) The biggest improvement is the Frame by Frame Restoration done to the first 2 movies. The other 2 movies didnt need as much TLC as the old ones, but they look brand new now, so crisp, so much detail now!

This blu-ray collection of all of the Alien movies is a must for the fans of these films. I agree completely with the analysis by "FrankNJ". It is similar to the standard set of dvds in regard to the content, but it is amazing how much they cleaned these movies up for the blu-ray versions. I know this for a fact because I have both formats now. If you have not already got these movies, the blu-rays are the way to go. You will not be disappointed!

One of the very best boxed set collections on BR.

Ridley Scott's ALIEN and James Cameron's ALIENS are some of the best movies ever made, sci-fi or other wise. This collection also has the decent ALIEN 3 and the very strange but very entertaining ALIEN: RESURRECTION. The look of each film is pristine with amazing picture quality, some of which I've never seen in the theater versions. Sound quality is outstanding and while the first two films are pretty much flawless, the remaining two are also exceptional. With countless of hours of featurettes, this Anthology will keep anyone busy for days. I can watch these over and over. Should have bought one as a gift when it was very nicely priced at $19.99 earlier this month (November 2012).

If you love extra features and are an Alien(s)3(Resurrection) fan, then this is the set for you. The first film looks brand new, and the special edition version of Alien 3 shows it in a new light that you may enjoy a bit more than the theatrical cut. If you just want both versions of each of these four films, then the Quadrilogy set might be what you're looking for. That, however does not have any of the special features this set does. It all comes down to what you want and what interests you. If you sat through all the commentaries of the Lord of the Rings films and the hours upon hours of extra content, then you've found what you're looking for.

The movies look stunning on blu-ray, and having the director's cuts as well as the original versions are a BIG +! This product was thoroughly put together and well packaged! I love the book style lay-out with all of the pertinent info listed (i.e., director, year of production, etc.) on a colorful sturdy card stock (with key shots of each movie) that protects each disc in its proper slot. I love it!! This is a GREAT buy for the price!! You will love Alien Anthology if you are a true fan of this sci-fi classic movie franchise!

I've been wanting this set since it first came out, and finally got it for myself. It was definitely worth the wait and I should have bought it sooner. The upgrade to HD on older movies shot with film (not mid 90's early 2000's which mixed in digital) transfer to HD great and look new, crisp, and clear. The sound quality is also amazingly detailed and I heard new nuances I hadn't been able to discern in previous editions. I am quite happy with this release and highly recommend it.

For the Alien series fan, this is a great addition. The Blu-Ray quality is amazing. Each film has audio commentary along with making of features. The original Alien features take you well into the production, casting, and behind the scenes of the movie. Probably more than has been available before. The sequels also contain an amazing amount of additional features as well. Watching the movies on a 4K TV was amazing, the quality of the picture is outstanding compared to the previously released DVD version.

Must own set for Alien fans

This is a must own set for any Alien fan. The original Alien movie is my favorite in the series. Brilliant movie. Gave me scares for many days. The second movie, Aliens, was an excellent sequel. Though it is not as scary as the first one, I still enjoyed the direction they took the story into. The third and fourth movies are decent in my opinion. Not so great, but not so bad either. The video and audio quality is amazing. The set contains tons of special features. Again, if you are an Alien fan and don't own this set yet, you should do so.

If you like the Alien franchise or are looking to watch them for the first time, this set has everything you will ever need. All four movies are presented with great picture and sound and have a wealth of special features. There are hours and hours of extras packed into this set. The packaging is also very nice to look at and has pretty awesome artwork. There's really nothing more you could ask for in regards to an Alien movie collection.

Alien on BD? Yes, please! Being a big fan of the franchise I kicked myself for buying the first three movies individually even though I've bought them several times on every format. I sold the three BDs and got a good deal on the anthology which is worth it for the extras alone, not to mention the films look and sound amazing. So what if it has Alien Resurrection included! It might make a funny coaster!

While the last couple of movies in this franchise fall off in terms of quality, you can't beat the first two movies, Alien and Aliens! Really great scripts with memorable lines and characters. Great musical scoring too by Goldsmith, Silvestri and Goldenthal. Highly recommend!

I count myself among those who loved the original (creepy, haunted house in space) and thoroughly enjoyed Aliens ("Let's roooock!"), but after that... *fizzle* Until this set is greatly reduced in price OR is split so that I can purchase the features individually, I'm not spending $95 (on sale?!) for the two I will watch. If these had been split into a pair of box sets, with the first two flicks in one, this would be a 5-star all the way.. But, then I figure 20th Century Fox knew this and may be the reason you have to get all four. ;) For those who like Resurrection, I understand the director was not invited to the HD remaster and fans are finding it the worst of the four in terms of picture quality.
