Still Plenty Fast

Installed 64gb 2933 ram and a second 1TB SSD. Laptop is still a beast and the 150W 2070S has plenty of power. Here are some game benchmarks in 1080p Ultra setting. Ghost Wildlands: 77fps, Shadow of Tomb Raider: 147 on highest preset, Far Cry New Dawn: 113, Far Cry 5: 130, AC Odyssey 89. Even though these sell on ebay for 2k or more they are still worth it. Great build quality, speakers on par with 2021 Legion series and fans never get loud. Laptop is always cool even on high thermals. Only laptops that can beat this are Legion 7/7i 3080 and MSI GP/GE 3080's. My Aorus 17x can edge it out very slightly with the 200W 2080. Barely, literally 2-3 fps at best.

Command Center and Stuttering of a Failed Dream

Yes, it uses some PC components and it can be powerful… but unfortunately it just doesn’t seem like a well built laptop designed to last. I suggest you to look up reviews on the model with i9 and 2080Super - those things couldn’t handle the power and were blowing up. This being I7 and 2070S is safer but buy on your own risk… The laptop simply doesn’t perform well without fans spinning at all times. It is going to stutter doing the most basic tasks (browsing, Excel etc.) . It is going to shut off if you don’t use both power bricks under heavy load. RGB looks bad in person. Command Center is the software you are going to have to use in order to maintain this laptop and well… it’s a mess. It constantly asks you to update itself and doesn’t let you control the power profiles or even RGB. Uninstall, reinstall like clockwork almost every time… Performance in games is okay but for this kind of money you can get much more powerful devices. I got this on a discount for 2000$ and even that was simply too much for this old failed concept. Until Alienware fixed Command Center, avoid their laptops and computers unless you’re enjoying doing manual work every single time you want to use a PC. Keyboard and materials used are nice.

Asked around computer friends about a quality laptop that is available for work and gaming. They pointed me to Alienware. Owned for a few weeks and really like it. It does Everything I need for work! Boots fast, quality equipment 32 gig ram goes to 64Gb. Best Buy had a sale and I brought it home. Best Buy employees were very helpful and answered all my questions.

Spec and upgrade capabilities are unmatched. Runs modern games at highest settings. Alienware software included with laptop is pretty good but has some minor bugs. Overall, laptop is top of the line and works as a gaming system and backup home work system. Would recommend.
