Not a fan...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to love this monitor, but the experience was unacceptable. Brightness Issues: Out of the box, the display was extremely dim. I had to spend an inordinate amount of time tinkering with settings just to make it usable, and even then it often wasn’t. Build Quality: After only 48 hours of use, I noticed dozens of micro scratches in the upper right corner of the screen. At first I thought I saw strands of hair, but it turned out to be scratches. The monitor was brand new, never cleaned, and only had the protective peel removed before use. I never touched the panel directly, so this was shocking. HDR Performance: Because I had to artificially boost brightness through the NVIDIA Control Panel, HDR looked terrible. Whites were washed out, colors lost depth, and overall performance was disappointing. For a premium product, this is simply not acceptable. Between the dim panel, poor HDR, and fragile screen surface, the Alienware 27" 4K OLED was a major letdown.

Impressive OLED Gaming Monitor!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very impressive OLED gaming monitor that has a bunch to offer both hardcore gamers and users who do gaming and want a bit of that vibrant OLED color and deep blacks. Setup was super easy, and I have to commend Dell on the packaging as there was no foam, and everything was well packaged with nearly everything being easily disposed of and recycled (yay!). The only thing about the packaging was the panel was only spaced just a little bit from the front wall of the box and not much in between. Perhaps that was by design, but if your box is damaged on the long flat sides, check it right away. Mine was okay and I am happy with the packaging overall but wanted to call that out. From there it's pretty much, pull out the stand, tighten one super simple thumb screw (THANK YOU) to the monitor and it's all set. Hookup the cables and you're done. Also, there's no power brick (ALSO THANK YOU) and the stand is super small, so you don't have long legs/feet standing out taking up precious desk space. The best part is, the stand is fully adjustable, tilts, swings, moves up/down and rotates, very nice indeed. As if that wasn't good enough. Once you've turned it on and hook it up to a capable system 240hz is amazing. Everything is buttery smooth, yet snappy and instantly responsive. For FPS gaming this thing definitely rocks it, and even with the additional Alien vision settings you can fine tune it to give you an edge in FPS games where every millisecond matters. The Alien vision I must say is pretty awesome for some games, my favorite being contrast in dark scenes. As for settings, there's not much I had or wanted to tweak, it looks amazing right out of the box and is ready to just go. You can customize it to a profile that you want easy enough, but I found colors to be bright and vibrant and accurate and as with most Dell monitors you can access a test report for your monitor. The things I'm most impressed about are the super black, blacks and bright colors. Scenes are just super detailed, sharp and accurate. I'd definitely recommend this monitor if you have not upgraded or tried out an OLED display like this one.

Absolutely stunning
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Alienware monitor just works. Out of the box, I was just so impressed by the design language. It may not be as flashy as other gaming monitors out there, which to me is actually a plus. It is simple, sleek, minimalistic (?) which just works. I love the base stand. Not having V-shaped legs helps reduce the amount of real estate that the monitor takes up. I think it looks less cluttered as well. The stand is also very well designed. You can move it up/down/tilt//swivel/rotate 90 degrees. Just very well done. In terms of performance, I mean what else can you ask for? 240 Hz is buttery smooth. Response time is minimal. OLED is where it is at. Once you fall in love with OLED, it is just so hard to go back. The colors are just so dang vibrant. Contrast ratio is unmatched. Games, movies, even documents just look so crisp. My family even commented how nice it was to use for daily tasks. The only thing that I have to gripe about is the brightness. It is simply ok. It did have a fair amount of glare in a bright room. If you have used quality bright monitors before or work in a sunny area, then this actually was a bit noticeable. All in all, this is a great and stunning monitor. It should be on your short list if you are looking for a premium 27 inch gaming monitor, especially with sales coming up!

Stunning Gaming Monitor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unboxing the Alienware AW2725Q you’ll find the monitor itself (disassembled), a heavy gauge c13 6’ power cable, a 6’ ultra high-speed HDMI cable, a 6’ DisplayPort cable, a 6’ USB-A to USB-B cable and misc documentation. Assembling the monitor features toolless assembly that is quick and easy. The base attaches to the upright with a thumb screw then the monitor attaches to the upright with a tab-in-slot design. The upright features a pass-through for cable management as well as vertical, tilt, and rotational adjustments. The assembled monitor is super attractive. The entirety of the exterior body is plastic with a satin blue (Interstellar Indigo) finish that thankfully doesn’t attract fingerprints. The face of the monitor is glossy with an anti-glare coating and has uneven bezels with the top measuring 1/4” and the sides measuring 7/16”. The bottom of the monitor has a small, branded chin. On the underside of the chin are the illuminated power button, the OSD joystick, and cooling vents. Continuing to look around the monitor, on the back of the monitor you’ll find the power plug port, 2 HDMI 2.1 ports (1 w/eARC), a single DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC, 3 USB-A 3.2 ports, and a single USB-C port that features 15w power delivery. Also on the back of the monitor, you’ll also find an illuminated Alienware logo that is customizable via the OSD. Powering on the Alienware AW2725Q, you are presented with some settings questions to step through. Once you’re through the setup, the default settings present an incredibly crisp, sharp image with rich, vivid colors and deep, dark blacks. The QD-OLED technology gives wide viewing angles with consistent color and brightness. And the available higher refresh rates produce exceptionally smooth motions with no sign of ghosting or stutter. Peak brightness did seem a bit low to me but not enough to make it an issue. Some other points: The OSD is easy to navigate and includes a heads-up display that shows not only the current settings but also a Panel Health monitor to help avoid issues with burn-in. The cooling fans are quiet. There are no on-board speakers. And the unit carries a three-year warranty that includes protection for burn-in. All in all, this is a stunning monitor that will elevate your gaming experience.

Absolutely Stunning Looking Monitor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, WOW, this display is just absolutely gorgeous in terms of it's picture quality. We will get to that, let's start off with the unboxing. I honestly was very worried that the monitor was going to be broken with the lackluster amount of protection that this box has. No Styrofoam, no peanuts, just some flimsy cardboard to protect the monitor from that and its ultimate demise from being dropped. Also, the box was not very intuitive to open either. Besides that scare, after unboxing and setting it up, it was time to test out the quality. My first impression was, as I mentioned earlier.... WOW! I truly have never seen such a true and deep black on a monitor before. Like, black is actually black, it's as if the monitor is off that is how deep and clean the blacks are. The HDR brightness is incredibly high, easy to tune. The monitor has a ton of different presets you can use for gaming, different gaming settings, crosshairs, etc. Pretty much everything you expect from a gaming monitor, this has. 240hz refresh rate is just so buttery smooth, you can get lost being mesmerized by your mouse floating across the screen. Gaming is incredible on this machine. Paired with my AMD 9070XT, I can run most games in 4k at high quality which allows me to take full advantage of the AMD freesync + 240hz refresh rate. Everything is so detailed, so beautiful, so colorful, so bright, and smooth. You really are not going to find any better specs off a 4kUHD monitor than what this one boasts in terms of response time, refresh rate, resolution, nits, contrast ratios etc. The only "negatives" I have is that... well for one, I wish it was bigger, like if this was 32" oh man, that would be ideal to have it be the perfect work+gaming monitor. Also, it does not appear to have built in speakers, which if you are a serious gamer, not a big deal as you are most likely using a high fidelity headset, but still, I like the option of having the monitor act as a speaker in some situations. But besides that, this monitor is crystal clear, the ultimate gaming monitor, and it actually even makes me enjoy working during the day on it just that much more enjoyable, no more squinting at word docs!

The Best Gaming Monitor for 99% of Gamers!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Booting up this monitor the first time makes your jaw drop. Then you go into the setting and tweak levels and you realize just how beautiful this monitor is. Inky blacks, beautiful HDR, bright enough for direct sunlight. I’m all pros and essentially one con in regards to this monitor. It’s gorgeous. If you have the budget, have a 4k ready graphics card, but don’t want to spend an absurd amount of money, this one is for you. However, due to it not having the latest DisplayPort technology of DP 2.1, I can’t say this is for everyone. Especially if you have the highest end graphics card like a RTX 5090, you’re going to lose some fidelity as both HDMI 2.1 and DP 1.4 (the ports on this monitor) both require Digital Stream Compression. Which as it sounds, compresses the video to be able to fit all data required. Now will the standard gamer notice this compression? Likely not, but if you are a 5090 gamer, I assume you take this sort of thing very seriously. For the rest of us, this is a no-brainer of a monitor. I tested out both Tetris Effect and Indiana Jones. Two opposites where Tetris Effect pushes deep blacks, while Indiana Jones plays a lot with sunlight and shadows. Both we’re absolutely gorgeous to the point I had my partner come over multiple times to just take a look. The stand is great too. So much flexibility while not requiring an absurd/scary amount of force to move this monitor around. I also love that while some manufacturers are asking you to download another app to manage settings, Alienware has it all right in the on-monitor menus. I let out a sigh of relief when I saw just how much you could customize the display right from the menu. Honestly, I couldn’t rave more about this monitor. I think it’s perfect for 99% of the gaming population. Unless you are a real stickler pixel-peeper, this monitor is for you. Pros: Absolutely gorgeous panel, even by OLED standards 4k Resolution at 240hz Refresh Rate A base/stand that’s extremely well designed with adjustable height 0.03ms response time All settings I need are in the menus with no additional software needed! Subtle RGBs on the back that can be turned off Great monitor design that isn’t too bulky in it’s style Comes with a wide assortment of cables Compared to my other similar panel from another manufacturer that was more expensive, this has better, richer blacks, wider color gamut, and better settings options. Cons: DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 both require compression to hit 4k, 240hz, HDR which is a bummer for the true pixel-peeping crazies. Not Alienware’s fault but boy is Windows still so clunky and weird about HDR.
