Underwhelming Product

Initial impressions weren't that great. Box it came in seemed like it was going to be a massive monitor yet my Omen 27i seemed to be just as big in comparison. Being my first ultrawide an curved screen I was expecting to really be amazed but I wasn't. The back panel is separating from the screen in places (see images). No dead pixels or other defects yet but I'm a little leary after the panel looking how it does. Bottom line is when I spend $1100+ on anything of this nature I expect to be amazed an for the product to be flawless. I took back an LG C2 48" OLED tv not too long ago for similar reasons. As much as everyone talks about OLED I'm just not as thrilled as I expected to be. Still a great monitor an everything you could need in a gaming monitor. Just not worth the price in my opinion.

Poor HDR100, VRR flicker

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it compared to other brands that are actively improving firmware. This display has horrible EOTF rolloff with HDR1000, even with the latest firmware updates. Other brands like MSI have corrected this issue. Dell is washing their hands of it and moving on, claiming Samsung intended the monitor to work this way. Also, Freesync is busted with flicker in a lot of games. The user manual explicitly states to disable Freesync to get rid of it.

I have preferred using my 42' LG C2. The colors are great on this monitor. However, I would not recommend in a multi-monitor setup. Another issue I have is that when connected to a Windows machine, it will download its own Alienware software without user input/permission, a big no-no for me.

Phenomenal Display with Some Strong Caveats

Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Probably one of those phenomenal displays I’ve ever bought, but it comes with some caveats. Unless you’re running Windows 11 (I’m still on Windows 10), you’re likely to struggle with proper calibration that can remain cohesive and simple. At least in my case, I had to set up profile for almost every application and state in my workflow. You’ll see the display constantly changing depending on what you’re viewing. Although the monitor is wide, it’s not very tall, I would have preferred a much taller display, I’m used to working on 32” monitors at a minimum and even upwards to 55”. So it’s difficult to transition back to a 24” or so that’s been stretched out to a 27”. Screen burn-in is supposedly a problem with these displays. I didn’t stick around to find out and I returned the unit. Amazing display, but the caveats have me waiting for OLED to become better and more affordable.

A Perfect Display Ruined By Aggressive ABL

The curve is also the perfect amount. The only problem I have with this monitor (and yes I've updated to firmware M3B104 that fixes many issues) is the auto brightness limiter (ABL). This monitor works now with the HDR 1000 mode, which is the "best" mode to game on now. However, I noticed in extremely bright scenes the entire display would dim to noticeable levels. I've been in a game before where the building or cave I was in had perfectly bright highlights, nice white captions, a bright mini-map, etc... then I step outside into a desert area or a beach, something with a lot of sun and brightness, and all of a sudden the whole screen dims. Whites become gray and the whole scene becomes distractingly dull. This type of behavior is normal for OLED monitors and it's "acceptable" to most people as it's mostly a problem with web browsing or bright white screens but with this monitor I find the ABL far too aggressive. I easily notice it during gaming. It's a shame too because everything else about this monitor is incredible. But the one quirk with ABL is a deal breaker for me.

Monitor looks great when its working

Although this monitor is listed as g sync compatible I couldnt get it to work in the nvidia control panel. I would notice an intense amount of screen flickering even when vsync was enabled. I looked up solutions for the flicker and none seemed to work. The packaging of the monitor lacked proper screen protection. Mine came with scratches all over the screen. While playing they weren't noticable but if knowing about micro scratches would bother you avoid it. On the bright side HDR looked amazing and the clarity/colors of oled is astonishing. My over all experience with the monitor led me to return it. If you dont care about flickering in menus, cut scenes, or gaming and dont mind having a new product have scratches the price point is amazing.

Unpleasantly surprised

Maybe it was faulty?? Not sure, but I was playing Starfield for about an hour and it suddenly crashed . After that, every time I started the game it would crash. COD would play fine but not Starfield… and hooking up my old LG monitor would run Starfield without issues. Needless to say I ended up returning the Alienware monitor and getting a newer good ole faithful LG. Hasn’t let me down yet.

Great image, not so great build

I had a defect unit and went through a lengthy process w/ Dell, including 3 additional replacements to eventually get an okay unit (fingers crossed). Not Worth It

Its more or less below average for video games but decent for movies, web content browsing in hdr is ok sdr poor. The monitor is not Worth anything over $500.00 usd and if you paid more well lets just say L.G. robbed you..

Defects on screen after 2 months

Not sure what it is, It doesn't wipe off. It looks like it is etched in. When it is on it visually looks fine, but when it is off you can see all defects. I just got a replacement one and am seeing the same thing after a week... disappointing for a high-end monitor.

Decent quality, but configuring it is a nightmare

The worst part is configuration. It took me 3 hours to set it up just to realize it wasn’t doing proper HDR, so i had to start from scratch. It should nit be this complicated in 2023!

Great, but 1 frustrating issue.

Unfortunately I had to return two monitors within 20 days because of air bubbles forming in the display. The first time it was all over the display. The second time was only a few bubbles, but enough to make me nervous. Would give 4 stars, but with the issue I had I am giving 3. It really disappointed me, bc I thought it was awesome otherwise.
