Disappointed

Awesome Gaming Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking at several brand of gaming laptops and decided to go with this Alienware brand. I was lucky enough to find an open box deal as well. The graphics are great! I’m currently playing Diablo 4 and I’m impressed how smooth the game runs. My only complaint would be the battery seems to drain rather quickly.

RTX 4070ti has 8 compared to 12 on desktop
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ended up returning it and getting a desktop for the same price. Thermals are not the best given air cooling. Also the RTX4070ti on laptops has 8 Gigs compared to 12 Gigs on the desktop version, hence lower graphics quality. Design is amazing and would still recommend it but if on sale

Best bang for the buck and versatile performance
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my son being a video game lover and doubling as his college laptop. More than adequate for any demand and great for triple A titles as well. Bought it on sale made it best bang for the buck.

Immerse yourself
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the better gaming laptops I’ve messed with. They all have heating issues, but Alienware has it down when it comes to cooling on this bad boy. Overall, it’s a top performer, that’s going to run quietly , cool, and keep you in the game

Great buy!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have not had a lot of time to game on this rig yet but I have for generating presentations as well as photo editing. It’s superb for both as should be expected from a higher end laptop. As others mentioned the battery can be a bit weak though, meaning runs down quickly.

Nice but heavy
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm pleased overall with this laptop. The temps stay cool, around 70, when rendering or gaming for me. There is some screen bleed, I looked up the issue that's supposedly common but I've never noticed it until this pc...it seems okay but annoying in most settings and I mainly plug this into a monitor. I upgraded to 64gb ram and 2 x 2TB nvme drives. I would have gotten the legion, I preferred the build, but it maxes out at 32GB ram. I got this as a desktop replacement. It's really heavy for 16" and not great battery life, 7 lbs and a 3 lb brick. I will lug it paces to 3D scan items and to my surprise the 4070 works well, I think it's because it can pull 150w, not 40w like my 4lb laptop! The keyboard and finish is really nice. The sound is great compared to my last laptop. Works great for adobe suite, keyshot, unreal engine.

Review of alienware
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall I'm very happy with my purse. There are a couple of issues with constant glitches and certain times I need to restart the computer. But considering it was an open box the performance others is great.

Best of both worlds as he loves to game and I feel like he also has a computer capable of doing school projects. Its fast and efficient. What a great deal!

Great gaming laptop but not perfect
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Alienware is a good gaming laptop but not as good as my M17 Alienware I had prior. The M17 was not upgradable (poor design) so I traded it in and bought this one. It’s odd, much better components and seems to run the same speed and graphics. I also added major RAM update and added a 2TB hardrive. Games crash and the system needs constant updates from Dell on Bios. I do not regret purchase but thought for over $2000 with the upgrades, it would be insanely fast. Also, it gets VERY hot. Invest in a gaming laptop fan stand. Also, battery is good for 20min while playing a relatively low demand game.

Where are these 5-star reviews coming from?
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My review might list the disclaimer that I was entered into a sweepstakes for the reviewing, but trust me--I'm leaving this review of my own accord because of a mediocre experience with this powerful laptop. For a laptop with an i7, RTX 4070, and 16GB RAM, this is what I would call one of the "slowest fast laptops" I've ever used. Part of this blame (if not most) is on Windows 11 Pro. As mostly an Apple MacBook Air user, I can say the M2 Air has a snappier response on the UI for almost everything...and that's with a "normal" 60Hz display vs. this thing's 165Hz display! Speaking of Air comparisons, the touchpad on this machine is "OK", but tiny and still not as nice as any Apple trackpad. For performance, you have to put in too much work to remove bloatware and toggle settings to get the right speed. By default, the BIOS setting for performance is "Quiet" mode. You can change this to Optimized or Performance to alter how much noise and heat vs. performance you experience. It's hard to tell if that BIOS setting is affected by the numerous other things altering performance in the Alienware Command Center desktop app. On first boot, there were times the mouse would not respond. Clicks would freeze, scrolling or moving would stutter, and so on. This is not unheard of apparently, because searching online for "sluggish Alienware M16 r1 windows 11" returns plenty of results. After doing some uninstalling of the aforementioned bloatware, on one reboot I hit an error on the login screen that read "“The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded.” I followed a Dell forum post to get it fixed...which then rolled back some of my changes and set me back a couple of hours' worth of setup. For other oddities: the Alienware Update app would suggest there were updates, then get hung up on installing them, and then after a reboot show they were no longer available. I assume they finished without the user interface reflecting it properly. And this is all with hardware that seems to be fine--diagnostic tests I ran indicate everything is operating fine. All in all, super frustrating experience for a laptop with this kind of hardware. The price was decent for the hardware, but Dell and Windows software really kills the overall feel of owning it. I would not recommend it to others, but I'm going to see if I can turn this not-quite-a-lemon into some lemonade. If not, I'll be returning it to try something else.
