It is good laptop but heavy and charging i got brick

My review might list the disclaimer that I was entered into a sweepstakes for the reviewing, but trust me--I'm leaving this review of my own accord because of a mediocre experience with this powerful laptop. For a laptop with an i7, RTX 4070, and 16GB RAM, this is what I would call one of the "slowest fast laptops" I've ever used. Part of this blame (if not most) is on Windows 11 Pro. As mostly an Apple MacBook Air user, I can say the M2 Air has a snappier response on the UI for almost everything...and that's with a "normal" 60Hz display vs. this thing's 165Hz display! Speaking of Air comparisons, the touchpad on this machine is "OK", but tiny and still not as nice as any Apple trackpad. For performance, you have to put in too much work to remove bloatware and toggle settings to get the right speed. By default, the BIOS setting for performance is "Quiet" mode. You can change this to Optimized or Performance to alter how much noise and heat vs. performance you experience. It's hard to tell if that BIOS setting is affected by the numerous other things altering performance in the Alienware Command Center desktop app. On first boot, there were times the mouse would not respond. Clicks would freeze, scrolling or moving would stutter, and so on. This is not unheard of apparently, because searching online for "sluggish Alienware M16 r1 windows 11" returns plenty of results. After doing some uninstalling of the aforementioned bloatware, on one reboot I hit an error on the login screen that read "“The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded.” I followed a Dell forum post to get it fixed...which then rolled back some of my changes and set me back a couple of hours' worth of setup. For other oddities: the Alienware Update app would suggest there were updates, then get hung up on installing them, and then after a reboot show they were no longer available. I assume they finished without the user interface reflecting it properly. And this is all with hardware that seems to be fine--diagnostic tests I ran indicate everything is operating fine. All in all, super frustrating experience for a laptop with this kind of hardware. The price was decent for the hardware, but Dell and Windows software really kills the overall feel of owning it. I would not recommend it to others, but I'm going to see if I can turn this not-quite-a-lemon into some lemonade. If not, I'll be returning it to try something else.

Good computer fast, not the best battery life, great keyboard and backlighting. Comparny manufacturer can have stocking issues like small flaws so make sure to look over the computer for flaws in the hardware.

Well, there are some positives to this unit. The fans are not remarkably loud compared to other laptops I’ve tried. However, please understand that the power brick weighs nearly 5 pounds and the laptop itself feels nearly a solid 10. Theres additional depth to the laptop which i feel is a design flaw but that also be why it stays relatively cool compared to the ROG Zephyrus 2023 when running call of duty. I bump this up to 4 stars if you understand this laptop actually runs best when bound to a desk and not for taking from place to place.

This computer is AMAZING! The customization is unparallel to other gaming laptops. The graphics, color, and quality is phenomenal. With its ultra-fast processor, it makes even mundane tasks easy and a blast!

Alien ware is out of this world. From the light up keyboard, to the high performance the m16 delivers. If anyone is thinking about a quality and sleek performance machine then the m16 by alienware is for you

This laptop is by far the best gaming laptop. I’ve owned the graphics and pitch quality is something like I’ve never seen..

Works great even for gaming for longer period of this. The downside though is the fan is loud. I'm using headphones while gaming so not really an issue for me. Maybe for some.

Amazing Laptop, I’ve had every high end gaming laptop ranging from $2000-$4000 and for the price this Alienware outperforms the Rog , Lenovos liquid cooled, and the m18. Great performance, quality build.

This is one of my first and maybe last gaming laptop I will purchase and low key this thang kinda fire it runs pretty good even the heavy games such as rust it goes very nice with it and any other games I can think of. Low key 10/10 money worth it.

Upgraded from Dell G7 to this laptop. Must say the performance is really impressive. But the ports are a little bit disappointing, the two USB ports are not next to each other, so it gives me trouble connecting my external keyboard.

Awesome laptop for both high level school work which I needed for my Machine Learning training models, provides a high performance gpu and also is good for playing the most latest games in high settings!

Veryfast machine has handled everything I have thrown at it so far would highly recommend

Pretty great computer. Wish the battery was a little longer lasting, but considering the games im playing i think its pretty good.

I got this bad puppy on open box when it was on clearence for $1k when it was going for $1.4k on clearence and right now its $2k. Please please please wait for clearence sale. Runs cod and fortnite pretty great.

The laptop performs alright but I was disappointed that the Motherboard for the Intel Core i7 does not support 5600MHz. Even though the preinstalled 16 (2x8)GB DDR5 RAM is 5600MHz. Best Buy should do a better job of clarifying which configurations the Questions and Answers section is referring to as many questions are directed toward the RAM and if it is upgradable. After having felt like I did my research and to find this out is a bummer and honestly, I may end up just returning it.

For the write person this is an amazing laptop but if you need something light and portable look for something else the laptop and charger combined weigh 10~ pounds or so.

It is best when you would travel lots and play single player games but not good when come to local mulitiplayer. I struggles try fix two console controller to connect to laptop.

Extremely powerful, extremely loud, runs everything smooth as silk. Had some issues with one of the fans but dell promptly fixed within 2 days. Customer service is A+.

System has ZERO issues and feels sturdy. 1 star lowered from 5 because of the lack of 10-key and same lackluster Alienware Command Center that can give many driver/feature issues.
