So far everything is running at high FPS and cool (for AMD). Great screen and sound is decent. Only complaints is that Dell didn’t add thunderbolt ports to this model with a 4080.

So far so good. It's big. It's heavy. It's blazing fast. It's a bit noisy when that fan kicks on. But set up was easy and it's a serious piece of machinery.

I purchased this laptop a few weeks ago. It seemed fine at first, but then I realized the bottom of the laptop was bent, causing it to wobble excessively on a flat surface. Took the back off and checked the components, still continued to wobble and not align properly.
I returned this item and got the same product a second time. This time, the new laptop's screen would not turn on on occasion and even gave me a blue screen error. This should not be happening with a 2k plus laptop right out of the box. I've had alienware in the past without issues. These products seem to be hit or miss (bad quality control).
However, if this laptop works like it should, you wont have any problems. Cooling was also much better on this laptop than previous generations.

Hi There Brody97, We want to thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your Alienware m16 gaming laptop. We are sorry to hear that the quality of your device did not meet your expectations and sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with the blue screen of death. That is not the type of feedback we like to hear from our customers, or the type of product Dell intends to deliver. Below I have provided troubleshooting steps to help resolve your issue. Here are the steps to help resolve your issue: 1. At the desktop, click the Search the web and Windows box and type "problem reports". 2. Select View all problem reports viewing a list of errors that have occurred on your computer and possible solutions for them, such as updating drivers, flashing your system BIOS, or checking for updates to the software. 3. Under the Source column, look for Windows and under Summary, look for Shut down unexpectedly. 4. Right-click the line item and select Check for a solution.
We'd also suggest checking to make sure that your software and drivers are up to date on Dell's Product Page here: https://dell.to/3xcCmaM

Great looking and great running laptop, when it works... Dell support is severely lacking...
I am finished trying to rely on this laptop. I bought this laptop in April 2024, but I only started using it regularly in September and almost immediately started having problems with it. The first service request on September 12th took two weeks for the first motherboard replacement to solve the laptop not powering on. One week later, when I tried using the laptop again, it worked for a couple times then again stopped powering on. That service request started on October 8th. This motherboard replacement only took one week, and seemed to solve the power problem but I lost the performance options in the Alienware command center. I got tired of the system staying in "quiet mode" when trying to play my games on January 17th, and started my third and current service request. Hours on the phone with Dell India support, full clean reinstall of windows, and replacing the motherboard again on January 27th failed to solve the problem, and somehow the motherboard came with an unsupported newer BIOS version that Dell is requiring I wait even longer for an uncertain fix of a newer BIOS update to be released.
I wish I could just throw this trash away, but $2500 is too much to waste. So I keep waiting on Dell to make things right.

Pretty good machine, runs all games and applications quite well. Video fan seems to make noise as there is debris in it, will be replacing it. Other than that it runs great and graphics are awesome.

This was to be son’s ’college’ laptop. One that could carry him through the 5 years to his final appointment as a licenced Architect. It was VERY capable, but failed over and over. It got so bad we had to resort ro replacing it the week he was shipping off to school.
I have to say that Best Buy has provided excellent service and wonderful support, but motherboard replacement, multiple complete forced resets back to factory spec as well as on and off video issues forced
It’s eventually being returned. :(

Purchased this device 4x and had to return 4x because of wifi issues. The Qualcomm wifi 6E cards are garbage. I'm not sure why Dell consistently skimps out on quality hardwrare fotheir flagship alienware gaming device. Performed a wipe of the device because Dell loves to fill up their machines with unnecessary and useless bloatware. Had to download all of the drivers from a different device because the wifi did not work. Once installed all necessary drivers, it took forever to download and install windows and dell updates. Restarted the devoce and thats when the problems happened. Wifi speeds were extremely slow. I pay for 1.2 gigs of download speed and this was not even breaking 10 megs. Checked on a different devoce and all was notmal. Plugged in the device because the battery was low and noticed the wifi was notmal. Unplugged again as a test and back garabage speeds. Contacted Dell and of course they have the worst tech support. Most of them dont know anything and their suggestion was to send it in for servicing. No troubleshooting, no suggestions on how to fix, nada! Only answer was to send a brand new device for servicing . I said no way. This piece of junk going right back to Best Buy. I ended up googling the issue and according to Reddit, this garbage qualcomm wifi card on these devices are basically setup to run at 100% on battery power and basically cut the speed when off of battery to save battery consumption which is unheard of. What if im at the airport and dont have access to a power outlet? Im stuck with slow wifi speeds because sell decided to put a setting in order to save battery life? Unbelievable. Anyways tried to adjust some power settings reddit advised but nothing worked. I thought about switching out the wifi catd to an intel wifi 6E NGW AX410 but not sure if this would have carried over. Not worth the hassle in my opinion. Also these qualcomm wifi cards are complete garbage. Dell needs to do better on their $2700 mid ranged gaming laptop. I would stay far away from this piece of junk. Better options ouit there.

Have had 2 separate units. Both were plenty fast, but had issues where every ten minutes or so they would become a stuttery mess for several seconds, probably driver issues causing it to switch to and from the iGPU. Gets annoying quickly

Very powerful system, but there are something that turn users off!
No usb 4 support
Drivers were crazy buggy
Price were very high compare to intel counter part
However
It run powerfully and cool but we need to offset the power down by 15 Celsius
Very fast wifi connection
*by default in 1st boot, it ran at 80 Celsius even idle. After offset, I can watch YouTube and it was only 60 Celsius
Average battery life. About 3hr YouTube

I wanted to write this review sooner, but held out in hopes my issue would be resolved. Owned this laptop (rtx 4080 and ryzen 7845hx) for about 14 months and, honesty, im counting down the weeks until it will become "financially acceptable" for me to buy a new computer. On paper this model is great. However, the ryzen 9 7845hx has a major throttling issue during gaming. My unit will throttle to sub 1-ghz due to something called a STAPM limit introduced through the BIOS. It is fixable through a BIOS update, but Dell doesnt seem to care. Dell support has told me my pc is functioning normally when it obviosly is not.
I know this is for a fact a software issue because 1: many other people have had this issue with this same model of laptop and 2: my pc went through a time where it was able to function somewhat normally (about 2 months, after a BIOS update). One day however windows forced my computer to update to a new BIOS which dramatically decreased cpu performance again. Reverting to the old BIOS now has no impact, and my computer's cpu will drop to sub 1 -ghz after about 15 minutes of playing almost ANY game at high settings/refresh rates.
Ive tried everything under the sun to try and make this thing run somewhat normal. Using a cooling pad, capping game framerates to 100 or less, and turning graphics to low-medium is the only way for me to have a decent gaming experience. That is not acceptable, taking into account the "high specs" this model has and the premium price Dell is charging for it.
Some of these models are not defective, and I am not trying to discourage anyone, i am just trying to share my experience. If the Ryzen 7845hx model is on sale, go for it! But, TEST THE UNIT EXTENSIVELY before your refund window closes and never update the bios after that. I was unfortunately too slow to catch my refund window, and Dell Support refuses to replace my unit because it, to them, is "operating normally".
It does not sit well with me that I am getting 60% of the performamce that I paid for, but I have learned to live with it. I just dont want anyone else to fall into this same trap. Even though it was on sale, I still paid $2300 for what is essentially a worse gaming experience than my old pc (ryzen 3700x, 2070 super).
If you are looking for this specific Alienware model, I would strongly suggest picking the Intel option as that one seems to maintain performance just fine.
