Buggy, buggy, buggy....
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to like and enjoy this machine. Alienware is just too buggy and full of problems for me. Problem 1. Crashing. I have had this machine for only a day (Yes, all updates and drivers are good) and it has completely crashed and rebooted 3 times. Most recently, right before writing this review. I was opening Battle.net, got the good ol' "Not responding", crash and rebooted. Problem 2. The machine wakes from sleep like its old and full of arthritis. Alienware head lights up, face id blinks but the screen lags behind, by at least 20-30 seconds. One time, not at all and I forced shutdown after about 2 minuets of waiting. Problem 3. Command center..... Saving profiles for me, has been a joke. The only part of command center that has worked is the Lighting effects. Overclocking and performance/thermal profiles don't seem to want to stay put. My "Default" settings revert back to balanced every time I open the app. When it's operating "normally" it games like a beast, but with issues like this on day 1, no thanks. I shouldn't have to constantly remove and redownload applications and drivers on day 1 for the price tag Alienware demands. I'm 100% over Alienware at this point (Returned the X17 to get this and returned for almost identical problems. Silly me, I know). I should have trusted my gut and went with a Razer Blade 14. I'll take the slight step down to a 3060 on a more stable platform...

Resolutions
1. Run a Computer Diagnostic. To determine if your computer is experiencing a hardware problem, run the Dell Preboot System Assessment (PSA) Diagnostics. For information on how to run Diagnostics, and to determine the issue, refer to Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2iaiujA
2. Check Safe Mode for Symptoms. To boot into safe mode, please follow the instructions below:
a) Start the computer.
b) Tap 'F8' on the keyboard immediately and every one second until the Dell logo screen disappears. From there you will see the Windows Advanced Options Menu on the screen. (If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, restart the system and try again.)
c) Select Safe mode with Networking and press Enter.
d) Log on as the administrator or as a user with administrative access.
e) Open applications and test the computer in safe mode. If the symptoms exist in safe mode, please continue the troubleshooting steps in this article. If the symptoms do not exist in safe mode, the issue is likely related to a driver or software and you may wish to complete step 3 to see if you can resolve the lockups or freezing.
3. Check for Malware. Malware (Virus, Spyware, etc.) can cause a Windows system to lock up or appear to hang. To check for malware on your system and to ensure that your computer is up to date on security software, visit Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2wWP1zI

Alien Gaming Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This item best quality is its appearance. Looks very nice indeed. Other than that for its main purpose of gaming I don’t recommend. Item got really hot. So much that you couldn’t even touch it. I bought fans for it and it didn’t work. It overheats too quickly. After five minutes it was burning hot. I had to return immediately and instead go back to Xbox.

Great screen, underwhelming performance
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The display is excellent and the 360hz is nice in theory but you will never be able to take full advantage of it in most games. The GPU is fine but there are much better 3070s out there with better TDP. The CPU can not handle being at full load for long without thermal throttling. I'd recommend the Asus Rog Zephyrus g15 or m16 over this laptop.

Posted .Hi Matt,
We would like to thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are glad you like the display of your Alienware x15 R1 gaming laptop but we are sorry to hear that you are not too happy with it because it is overheating.
Below I have provided troubleshooting tips with the full article that can help resolve the overheating issue:
1. Make sure the system is in a well-ventilated area.
2. Use laptops on flat surfaces to improve airflow. Hard table tops are recommended and avoid using any type of cloth or any other soft material under the laptop.
3. For desktop systems make sure there is enough clearance around the system to allow the air to flow. If the system is in an enclosure try to move it to a more ventilated area for testing.
4. Check that the air vents are clean and that there is nothing obstructing them.
5. Update your system BIOS to the latest available in Dell Support Site.
6. You can reset your BIOS settings to undo any changes that could be causing the system to overheat.
7. Disable NVIDIA G SYNC and run a stress test using SupportAssist.
8. Navigate to the Thermal Controls in the Alienware Command Center, which is found under the Fusion tab. There you can adjust the thermal control of system fans and change the status of active venting. This link is for the Alienware Command Center Quick Guide, where you can find a video to explain how to use the Manual Mode for the Thermal Controls: https://dell.to/3nZtYDm.

Gaming Monster!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, this laptop is an absolute monster!!!! The build quality is top notch and leaves very little to be desired. It handled everything I threw at it with ease. I play mostly first person shooters with the occasional survival game thrown in the mix. The 3000 series GPU takes gaming to another level with ray tracing capable games and super high frame rates with or without RTX on. The look is unreal. This machine runs smooth, albeit a bit loud when fans are at 100%. But it sounds like a small jet engine, so that’s cool. Below are my pros and cons. Pros: • CPU - Very fast 11th gen I7 • GPU - 3070 RTX card capable of high frame rates with Ray Tracing on or off • 16GB RAM at 3200mhz • Ultra smooth graphics with 360HZ display • High frame rate gaming (1080p) o 160-180 fps in Doom Eternal-Ultra Nightmare settings (Ray Tracing on) o 145+ fps in PUBG-Ultra Settings o 160+ fps in COD Cold War Multiplayer-Ultra Settings (Ray tracing off) o 85-95 fps in COD Cold War Multiplayer-Ultra Settings (Ray tracing on) • NVME for fast boot and program loading. I clocked a 13.5 second boot time after all updates and programs loaded • Surprisingly amazing speakers for a laptop • Full RGB control of keyboard backlights and external LEDs • Exceptional build quality. It is heavy and very sturdy. It the kind of quality I have only felt in top tier laptops. • It’s an Alienware!!!!! • Even the packaging was high quality Cons: • Lackluster rear I/O o Only 1 USB port o USB type C connection for direct Ethernet connection Only one other USB type C remains when using direct connect Ethernet o No dedicated microphone input jack • Runs a bit hot. All within spec in the mid 90’s Celsius when stressing with demanding AAA titles. Used open hardware monitor to keep tabs on temps. Some parts of the laptop actually get hot to the touch • Needs more than 512GB NVME. Fills very fast with modern titles. I’m sure this is easily upgradable, but I’m not popping the panel off a brand new Alienware until I have to. • Battery life leaves something to be desired when Optimus mode is disabled in the Nvidia Control Panel. Keep in mind that it’s a power hungry CPU and GPU. Leave it plugged in.

Best laptop I've ever had hands down
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome gaming laptop for gaming on the go and/or flexibility with gaming. You pay for quality and the quality of this laptop is definitely worth it. Word to the wise get an adapter for extra USB connectivity devices because the one draw back with this laptop is that it only as one USB port.
