The reason for 4 stars is the range. Other than that the sound is great and it has proved to be as durable as it claims. The only thing we have not done to this speaker is leave it in the snow. It has been dropped in the pool, kicked off a basketball court and in the sand at the beach! Our family loves this speaker.

I have bought three of these and we use them at work they have enough sound and can fit almost anywhere and a lil dust from work or a small drop or bump and no problems and when it rains we don't have to worry about the speaker getting lil wet

Very nice speaker, sounds good and the range is pretty good as well, will play music from computer inside to outside about 40 ft or so and through a wall or two. Seems very durable and tough, although haven't tested that out. Easy to use and setup. Just wish I could connect more than one at a time, which I believe you can with the newer version now.

Brought this after reading reviews on it . Worth ever penny for the money. Used it by our pool al summer and took it on vacation to the beach. Impressive sound for the size and the battery life is amazing with quick charge time . I have owned Altec Lansing stuff and never been disappointed . They just keep impressing me and I am a customer for life.

This speaker is very durable and has great sound! We needed a rugged waterproof speaker to attach to our Whitewater Raft that we take down the river through rapids. I am pleased with the battery life and give it a 5 star review!

Love the fact I no longer worry about natures elements. Perfect size with great sound. From sitting on a table, using the mount to attach it to outdoor vehicles, or tossing it in the pool: it goes everywhere with me. Plus it has amazing battery life too!

This portable speaker is great for pool parties and just jamming out. It's Bluetooth capabilities pretty good. Although if you have a water proof phone or case and you put the phone under water it stops the Bluetooth connection most of time. But if you take the phone out of the water it resumes the Bluetooth connection.

This speaker is awesome! Great sound and so convenient to carry anywhere since it is so small. We love using them when watching movies with our computer; hooking up our ipod or listening to Sirius from our phone. The sound is clear and loud enough.

I picked this up on a deal of the day sale. I picked it up because I wanted something more suitable for camping use. I have a Bose Mini II and was comfortable using it out in the woods with all the potential drops and use near the river. This may not have the same quality sound as my Bose, but for outdoor use its perfect and we plan to get lots of use out of it at the river. The option to use it as a portable charger is also great. The sound does improve at higher volumes, but in the home at lower volumes, I'll stick with my Bose.

My daughter loves this speaker. It's almost indestructible and the sound is really clear.

Waterproof, sandproof, floats, and lasts 40 hours of use between charges. Has a port to charge your other devices off the battery it contains as well. Great sound with surprising volume .

Looked around for several different Bluetooth speakers and settled on this one after my research. I had to have waterproof, well not really but that's what I wanted. My wife and I will be using it while camping, doing inside and outside work, at the beach and boating. It will be mostly paired to my phone and computer. It seems to have pretty good distance reception from 0 to 20 feet in the house through walls and a little more than that unobstructed line of site. Pairing is easy and volume is good as well. Seems to be built very solid.

The Altec Boom Jacket is a good speaker, but I place it behind the Bose mini and the JBL Charge and Charge 2 and the equivalent Sony. The real value is that this speaker is supposed to float although I have not tested that and it lssts much longer on a single charge. The micro USB is a big plus for charging.

This was the perfect gift for my mom to play music at her condo or on the beach. She loves the sound and loves that the rugged design allows her to take this speaker anywhere and not be damaged by the elements (within reason of course).

Use this for lake days & sound/quality is great. Only minor complaint is that it needs the charging attachment /cord connected & hidden away so you aren’t constantly losing it. Easy to sync any device. Several friends have bought this exact speaker for their teens.

Does exactly as advertised. I purchased this to use around the pool as my other speaker was not waterproof and was getting wet. This one is rugged, battery has good life and is definitely waterproof. I have let it sink to the bottom of the pool, pulled it out and it keeps on playing!

My son is ecstatic about this. It's portability is key. He uses it in the shower and can't wait to take it to the lake/beach/pool. Sound quality is great, with increased base and volume which he loves. Connects well with devices and was relatively easy to set up, learn and use.

I purchased this speaker due to its' battery life and element resistance qualities. It will be used for an outdoor hot tub. From my personal research it seemed to be the best in it's category of element resistant design. I can recommend it highly. The sound is nice and design is good.

This speaker has been one of the best purchases we've made in quite some time! The sound remains very clear no matter how loud we play it. It keeps a charge even after several hours of play, AND it can double as a charger for your phone! We love our Altec Lansing speaker!
