Aluratek - Universal Bluetooth Audio Receiver and Transmitter - model ABC53F I have been asked many times how can I listen to my TV from my wireless headphones and that’s not a simple thing to fix. The options are easy for a single headphone they are less if you want to have two wireless headphones receiving the same signal at the sametime. Or any bluetooth device that can receive. That could also be any powered bluetooth speaker. The Aluratek model ABC53F is a solution but it might take a bit of time to set up. Depending on what you want it to do will depend on how difficult it is to get working. For all the options Aluratek is giving you I found the 3.5mm (⅛) connection to my receiver headphone jack the easiest for transmitting. But of course that would be the one adapter that they leave out. I had the larger female 6.35mm (¼”) adapter already but many maynot. Using the other connection options will completely depend on how complicated your Receiver or TV is. This for me was the first commercial product with the newest Bluetooth standard ver 5.0. It also boasts about having support for Bluetooth APTX-HD. I could go on just about that but let’s just say, great about time. To take advantage of this higher quality Bluetooth signal your receiving device must also support it. Sadly most wireless Bluetooth headphones on the market today do not. I found the single front panel control to be the most frustrating paring method I think I have ever used. You have one front panel button that depending on how its flashing and what color it is all you get. And as you learn to use it your finger is always blocking the flashing light. The first device pared quickly, I didn’t have such an easy time getting a second pared. If your going to use this so you can send music from your phone to any connect device, receiver, powered Bluetooth speaker or even your car, since it has an internal battery, it is easy to setup. If you want to transmit back to you such as your wireless headphones it is easy to setup. But the device has a switch on the back so it is either in receive mode or transmit mode. It does not support both modes at the same time. Ok so this wouldn’t be so bad but it clearly says in the setup guide, “You will need to re-pair your Bluetooth devices to ABCD53F after your switch between TX/RX modes.”. Ok so I have to repair again that’s not good. If I don’t change the transmit and receive modes I am ok as it will auto pair like most Bluetooth devices. The inclusion of Bluetooth 5.0 and APTX-HD support helps to make this an option if your looking for what it does. I think it needs some work on the interface side. I just never felt good about the pairing process even though it does work. Losing the paring because I changed modes makes that even more frustrating.

If you have “older” equipment that is not Bluetooth compatible this will bridge that gap. I have purchased a couple of Aluratek Bluetooth products (small portable receiver and another small transmitter/receiver mostly used in my cars)) in the past and been very happy with both. This unit continues the winning streak. While not a size I would consider for use in my cars it is perfect for around the home In the ABC53F box; ABC53F transmitter/receiver (3x3.5x1 inch – not counting antenna) USB charging cable (almost 10 feet long) 3.5mm male to male extension cable (almost 6 feet long) RCA Y to female 3.5mm adapter cable (10 inches in length) Optical cable (40 inches in length) Registration card and operation instructions Pros; The GREAT twist with this unit is you can use it as a Bluetooth receiver (play your connected devices thru it as is usually the case) OR use it as a transmitter. It is as a transmitter that I believe this unit really shines. Transmitter mode allows you to synch your bluetooth wireless headphones (or maybe speakers) and listen to TV or stereo without disturbing those around you. The unit is clearly marked as to its inputs/outputs. The on/off/synch switch can be a tad confusing at times as it “communicates” with the user thru a series of colors and blinking light. I synched a couple of devices both in receiving and transmitting mode and had no problems. In transmitter mode you can just plug it into a headphone or output jack(s) and you are ready to use. I had no problems connecting device to my TV but did not use digital optical cable. I found the audio lag between headphones and TV voice/video action to be very acceptable. In receiving mode - since its only audio – there is no perceived lag. Just plug it into an input jack(s) and you are ready to go. Signal seems to be very strong as I was at least 50 feet away thru 2 walls and didn’t lose the Bluetooth signal. Cons – at least for me None really except there is no “brick” in the box to plug the USB recharging cable into AC outlet. This must be an Aluratek “thing” as the 2 other Bluetooth products I purchased did not have one either. Since I have plenty lying a round not an issue but be warned! Also no native volume control on the unit. I suppose this is to expected as your receiver or headphones will provide the sound level. Really a great little unit for your home. Since I have used it only a few days not sure how it will hold up but I have had their other 2 products for over a year and have had no issues with either. Would definitely recommend.

The Receiver & Transmitter is quite useful. The sound quality is superb. My only gripe is the 300’ range they claim. When I have my wireless headphones paired to my iPad, I’m able to walk around the house while still receiving good reception. While trying to do the same using this device, the audio began to break up when I went only several rooms away. Not sure how they’re able to get the 300’ range they claim. Other than that, I’m pleased with the product. It has a built in rechargeable battery, allowing you to use it anywhere. Using it as a receiver allowes me to send an audio signal via Bluetooth from my phone, tablet, or computer; then transmit that signal to wired headphones or audio devices via aux or RCA cables from the unit itself. In Transmitter mode, I was able to plug my TV into the unit, then send that signal via Bluetooth to my wireless headphones. That allowed me to watch TV at night without disturbing anyone. There are quite a few configurations that can be used with this unit.

Aluratek’s Universal Bluetooth Audio Receiver and Transmitter with Bluetooth 5 is a state-of-the-art adapter for streaming music to your Bluetooth headphones and/or speakers. The ABC53F Bluetooth 5 allows you to stream up to 300 feet (100 m) to two headphones simultaneously - way more than Bluetooth 4.0! The dual receiver/transmitter features aptX™ low latency technology eliminating audio delay. It can stream up to 13 hours on a full charge of the built-in rechargeable battery. It is small and easy to set up.

I like to watch TV before I go to bed, but the sound disturbs the rest of my family. Unfortunately, our Samsung TV doesn't come with Bluetooth and I needed something so that I could connect my headphones (Sony). This is the only solution I could find that would work and also has the flexibility to support multiple headphones connected at once - for those times my wife does what to watch TV with me. Setup was straight forward, I use the USB port on my TV to power the transmitter and take optical out from the TV straight into the Aluratek. Glad Aluratek includes optical and composite cables in the box, so you can work out what cabling works best for you. Connection has been steady, no dropouts and I'm very happy. The unit also doubles as a receiver, tested on an old BOSE speaker setup and was able to connect my iPhone and play audio via Bluetooth on a speaker that still sounds great but lacks connectivity. Overall. Very happy.

    Easy Install and Pairing

I didn't think I'd ever have a need for a product like this. There are several other generic headphones you can buy, that offer wireless docking and battery charging for listening to TV audio. However, this product does what the others don't. Let you use your own pair of bluetooth headphones. The install is pretty straightforward: 1. Determine what you're connecting it to (TV or a Receiver) 2. Decide how you want Audio Out connected (standard headphone cord, optical connection using the TOSlink cable, or using the RCA Y adapter). You shouldn't have to buy the cables to use this product, as mine came with all three included. 3. Install it. Once installed, and powered on, you can easily begin the pairing process of your favorite wireless bluetooth headphones. I opted to use the Optical Out on my TV set, and luckily it doesn't stop my Soundbar from using the ARC port. It easily blasted audio from both the ARC and the TOSlink (optical cable). Your TV setup may vary. Fortunately, it also outputs the toslink signal, if you aren't as lucky. So you can plug the optical cable into the unit, then plug another one out to your receiver. I used this with two different bluetooth headphones I have. 1 is a Sony and the other is my Bose QC. I can confirm that both received the signal successfully, and didn't appear to have any signal loss or audio issues in my bedroom. I'm only about 20 feet from the TV set, and this claims up to 120 feet. So I went into my living room, and was able to get the audio stream successfully. I even went into my backyard, and it didn't drop out until about 3 feet from the exterior wall (your results may vary). Forgot to mention, you can also use two headphones or paired bluetooth speakers simultaneously with this! This is a great addition for anyone looking for a quiet way to watch TV while your partner or spouse is sleeping, and those who would prefer a more intimate sound experience. It will work with anything that has an AUX out using RCA, 3.5 plug, or Toslink, so the applications are plentiful. I'm honestly really impressed with the unit, and am now using it every single night to quietly watch TV while everyone sleeps (I have a difficult time sleeping). Highly recommend this, unless you have poor quality bluetooth headphones. If so, look to either upgrade your headphones, or look for an all in one solution. I'd recommend getting some good headphones to experience the best sound quality.

Could only pair my bluetooth headphones with the digital audio optical cable, and not the RCA red & white cable, forcing me to disconnect from soundbar every time I wanted to use headphones. Not cool.

Customer service gives you the runaround for months repeating answered questions. They have inadequate product knowledge so they send you a replacement without trying to solve the problems. The device does not act (e.g., LEDs) as stated in their document. The optical connection has limitations. There's a lot of static and the range is questionable.

Unable to get the unit to work as told by BBuy tech. Have contacted Aluratek twice via their contact form in two weeks. No replies of any kind. Have no idea if the unit really works as designed for my FireTV, soundbar, and headphones. Will be returning to BBuy for better choice. Hopefully, for one that works for my setup.
