Posted .Hi JillM, our products gather your step/calorie data via an algorithm that determines how far one's arm would swing while walking at a normal pace. This algorithm is based on the height, weight, and gender of the user. This means that if your arms are stationary while you are walking (i.e. your hands are on your bags or in your pocket while walking) it will not register your steps taken.
To reduce errors, Amazfit sets an initial value of 10, which means it will count steps when you walk more than 10 steps. In other words, the APP will show the real walking steps and start counting from step 10. When you make 10 steps rest for 5 seconds, and make another 10 steps, the watch may not record your steps.

After a couple months I started seeing a lot of issues including not wanting to count steps, disconnecting from my phone, stopped showing me my messages, ect. I was reading about it online and someone said if you restart it a lot of times that fixes it so I tried that and it worked. Then it got to where I needed to restart it everyday..I then looked it up and it said it may need a factory reset so I tried that, it worked really well for about a week and is now having the same issues it was having. I hate this because I actually loved this watch, it was very simple to use and comfortable to wear but there are just so many issues with it and I spent to much for it to only work well for 2 months...P.S. the only reason I gave it 2 stars is because the battery life was great.
