The Echo is great for streaming music, setting timers and alarms, playing games, and controlling devices such as thermostats in your home.

I love Alexa. Its easy to work with and use. I love to be able to ask her questions whenever I want and set reminders or alarms verbally.

Enjoying her a discovering all she can do, but there is a learning curve. She doesn't always understand what you're asking. You may have to ask the question in different ways until she gives you an answer you need. Regarding activating her skills is very easy, however when you ask her to perform a skill you have to word it just the way she needs to respond or at the very least remember the skill you gave her. Fortunately, there are books out there to assist you. I have to purchase one because I have no idea which the best to walk me through all of the thousands of things she can do. I will say this, the music aspect is wonderful. Once you active or connect to one of her music compatibility platforms, or even to radio stations.

I've gotten quite used to telling my thermostat to go down and my lights to turn on. Also its really fun when you subscribe the amazon music service. Basically it will play any song or genre you can think of.

Now I will admit I am a tech gal. I did do some investigations before buying. I was not dissapointed at all. This is like your own personal assistant. It does exactly what it is supposed to do, spell,set alarm,check weather,traffic,news update,even tells jokes. I love the fact that anyone can talk to it and it will still work. My family and friends have pure entertainment with this neat gadget. I look forward to seeing more things added to the commands. Also was super easy to set up and the volume is way better than expected.

Sound quality is excellent. Very easy to use! She can tell jokes, tell you traffic and weather, that's just a few examples!

I love my Amazon Echo and have already purchased a 2nd one for me and 3 more to give as gifts. The sound is great and it's so easy to learn to use. We love the versatility of playing music, setting timers and alarms, giving me the latest sports scores of my favorite teams, and making shopping and To Do lists to share between us.

Great for playing all types of music, checking the weather, asking questions for things you're looking for, play games and so much more. Love Alexa. Can't wait to learn all the other things she can do that I haven't learned about yet. I would surely recommend it to anyone. You can also use it to run various things in your home.

We love Alexa! Hands free everything! Set a timer, check the weather, play your favorite music, or turn on the lights just by asking. The best part is knowing that this little miracle won't be irrelevant in a year because it gets smarter and learns new skills with updates all the time. My only criticism is that I do wish Alexa could here me when the she is playing my music at max volume. I always have to turn music off or turn down the volume manually :(

My first Echo was so great that I got a second to have in another location in my house. Now I can do so many other things like DROPPING in from upstairs to downstairs and playing music in both places at the same time when I am going from one floor to the next. I don't know what will come next but the price was so good I could not pass it up. I even picked up a DOT. I guess the next thing will be to get it hooked up to the thermostadt and more.

At first I thought it would be just another one of the voice interfaces that are on a lot of devices - It only comes with a few functions. Wow I never was so happy to be proved wrong. The omni-directional microphones and excellent sound alone make it a great choice to add to your home. Because of its open source code you can add skills that other users have developed or download a SDK and make your own. It reads me bedtime stories filters my content for news sources according to my whim add complex sums, spells and is an all around good sport. But the best thing is -- I had a few remote control hubs around wink, nest the house because I hoped they would make my life easier only to find the they cell phone user interface made it much more cumbersome than completing the task myself. Echo changed all that it unified my security, locks, my lights and more through an easy voice interface -- I could not be more happy - it gave me more than a smart house - it gave me a smart home. I even bought a second unit to take on vacation- Definitely will change your life for the better

Very easy to setup and the things it will do look to be unlimited. Like being able to have music available by just asking. Not having to tap it to wake it up is priceless.

My daughter and I have made the Echo apart of our daily routine. She gives me a summary of my calendar, plays any song that I request, though you must have Prime, but it will play your Pandaro stations and read your audible collections. My daughter has the dot (smaller version), but she uses Echo to tell her stories, sing to her, and give the daily weather forecasts.This is a worthwhile tech assistant. How did we get along before Echo?

On the down side, I don't have a smart home yet, so essentially this is just a talking clock for my bedroom. On the upside, it is SUCH a COOL talking clock! The potential for apps and websites I use to extend it is quite breathtaking. So far, I've used it to: - Play music from my Amazon Music account - Read audio books from Audible - Play music over Bluetooth from my iPhone - Play live radio from TuneIn - Play brief news reports from the BBC, PBS and The Economist - Add items to my grocery list (from OurGroceries) - Check my budget (from YNAB) - Check my Amazon order status - Buy Amazon products I've bought before - Checking the time in different countries I'm looking forward to integrating it with more smart home toys someday! I'm not sure it's worth full price at 180$, but Best Buy currently has it on sale for 90$, which is a great price! I hope my meditation app gets on it eventually, and that some day they incorporate notifications in a smart way to it.

I bought a new mobile phone at BBY, and got a $150 gift card as part of the purchase, so bought the ECHO kind of on a whim. I am not a huge technophile, so I wasn't expecting to really love it. Setup was ridiculously easy. Connected to wifi, then connected to Amazon, Spotify, and Google Calendars accounts. Now its all voice commands for questions, music, and my girls love asking Alexa for a joke. I also connected it to my WEMO switches and it works well. I am still learning the different things I can ask her. I almost gave it four stars, because it takes a little getting used to with regards to which questions you can ask, or how to phrase a command for the best result. But in the end I decided for five stars because I am fine-tuning the app settings and preferences to make the experience better.

But I should’ve realized that I only got if for almost 50% off the usual price because they were releasing a new upgraded model in a few weeks, with lots of new advanced features. Still, it was a good deal, especially since all I’ve really used it for so far is to play music...and the sound quality is great! I don’t need all of the advanced and expanded Smart Home control features of the new model, so this is excellent for what I primarily purchased it for.

This is a great addition to any technological home. We don't use it all the time but we use it daily. It has a hard time recognizing my location when we ask for the weather, but we can ask for our city weather and we get it. We use the note taking quiet frequently for calling out what we need for groceries. It plays music that we ask. Now we must get some of the switches and plugs for controlling your lights and home automation. That will be a while, but it is still cool to know it is there as an option. Overall this is a cool toy for the whole family.

I got the Echo for Christmas and hooked it up at my house. Hooked up all the automated/wi-fi devices I had, bought more just because they're fun and loved it. Then I decided I wanted a nice, compact music player for my office and started to evaluate options. After reviewing and valuing based on my needs, my office, and ease I decided to get another Echo for the office. The Dot was an option, but the sound quality isn't good enough for me while the Echo is (I'm not a huge music aficionado, just like clear music) and it doesn't require me to keep an extra set of speaker or use up computer resources to stream. I got it, hooked it up to the office wi-fi and use it every day. It gives me the weather forecast, traffic status, miscellaneous information, but most of all, streaming music. And when the phone rings I can pause it quickly using the voice control and then resume when I'm done. That's what turned me away from the Tap.

Great product for home automation. Also has great sound. Works well with Pandora.
