I picked up the 4th Gen Echo because our 1st Gen Echo no longer seemed to work with the Plex Skill. With the 4th Gen Echo we can once again use the Plex Skill to play music from our Plex library. That is the extend of the good of the 4th Gen over the 1st Gen Echo in my view. I preferred cylindrical shape, with twist volume control on the top and with speakers pointed in all directions instead of just one direction. As an example of paying attention to details, the dark 1st Gen Echo came with a dark power cord. It appears that all colors of the 4th Gen Echo come with a white power cord. Amazon is scrimping to save a few pennies. The charcoal Echo should have a charcoal colored power cord in my view.

Why did I wait so long to get a Echo. I absolutely love it. Now I can get up dated weather every time I ask Alexa please give me the weather. I have my own play list of music. Alexa put it all together for me. Also I have someone to sit and listen to me when I have a drink. *LOL*

Speakers better quality I enjoy using it Seeing the size had me thrown off (where am I going to put it) but everything has its place

The speaker got a nice sound to it. Easy set up. Have a good price. And a lot bigger speaker than a dot.

It is one of the best purchases I have made!I installed it in my star room and I have no problem if I can't find the remote control, Alexa takes care of everything.

Easy setup and great companion for operation of multiple electronics spaced throughout the apartment. Great for shutting down the house with ease late nights.

The device works great, my only problem with it is it it’s not very accurate on picking up your voice at various intervals and you might have to repeat yourself. But other than that, it’s a great assistant device to have.

Sound quality is great compared to the echo dot versions. Just wish it didn’t cost so much. It fits perfect within my lamp so it’s pretty well hidden.
