I bought this to add to my kitchen. You can group other echos to play music across all of them. This doesn't sound as good as the standing one, but it has a jack to plug an external speaker in, or you can add another bluetooth speaker to it.

Added another econdotnto the household! Have another downstairs and plan to add two more in children’s rooms. Great for music and intercom! Highly recommend!

so useful, can help you look up things and play things, you can use it to control things around your house as long as you have the correct application for it

Echo dot is perfect for people who already own a mini speaker with them (I do). I've connected it with my bose sound system and it seems to work really well.

Was on the fence on these whole voice assistance but so far I am enjoying the dot. Haven't yet used it to full potential but enjoy i can sync it to a bluetooth speaker and have my playlist or whatever i request information on played through that rather than depending on the speaker of the larger version of Echo. Still tapping into it's full potential. But at $40 price point, i jumped on the wagon.

This little hockey puck shaped item is amazing!! I am loving the way Alexa is enriching my life with her many functions!! For the price, you can't go wrong!

I had a black echo dot and so glad a different color is finally available. Easy to use when it works although Alexa can still be very frustrating when she lies about getting the task done!

I have the echo, and I wanted something for my bedroom. This is great. The sound is not as good as the regular echo, but I just connected a good Bluetooth speaker and works great. And I can take the speaker into the bathroom when showering and/or shaving and getting ready in the morning and listed to talk radio. This thing is awesome and a great price!

Having an echo dot in every room gives you full control of your smarthome and the ability to play music throughout your home. It's a great intercom as well.

Definitely consider upgrading to the larger model if you plan on listening to music, but does as advertised and is very useful. I personally think google is a bit ahead technologically, but both are good, and it’s purely personal opinion.

The echo dot is great. You can do so much with it. Stream music, set alarms, talk to friends who have echo, set your lights and so many other uses. Love it.

The Echo Dot is an inexpensive introduction to starting a Smart House and having fun with technology. I love the games we can play and the ability to customize the dot. Even locking and unlocking the house or turning on the lights is fun.

If youre interested in an Echo but don't want to drop the money on the big one, go for this especially when its on sale for 29.99 cant go wrong. Works great

I picked this up with deal with the Harmony Hub and was mainly needing the Hub but I'm glad I got this, I also have a Google Home and now I use the Echo far more for my daily activities. Google is slowly coming with features but Amazon is already there with the voice calls, and iPhone intergration, and Bluetooth, I recommend this over the Home at the moment, was less expensive for more features.

I bought the Echo Dot as a holiday gift for a college student. She loved the compact size, the functionality and the easy installation of the device. The sound quality is not as good as the Echo Show or Plus, but is adequate for this use.

I had another amazon echo dot and it was working well to control my smart home devices. It was in my living room. I wanted another one in the bedroom. So I bought this one but a different color. This one worked just as well. I had difficulty at first adding it because I wanted to switch it with my other echo dot to better match the color of my furniture. But the wifey is used to the name of the old one and wanted this new one to be called the same name. Whew. After fiddling around, I got it to match the furniture and be called the name the wifey was used to. Now we're happy.

For the price, this is an awesome entry-level home AI. Though the speaker is mediocre on its own (for music), streaming it through a receiver is gold. Great for the price or those who do not want to invest $100 quite yet in such a device.

We were visiting a friend and saw how they used the dots to basically have an intercom system throughout the house. The 2nd generation dot has come down in price and made it more affordable to put one in every room. With the announcement feature it is easy to let everyone know no matter where they are that dinner is ready. Different music in every room is a bonus.

I purchased the Dot to put in the bedroom since I enjoy using the Echo in the living room. The Dot is small, inexpensive and useful. In order to get the sound quality of the Echo, I would recommend pairing it with a Bluetooth speaker. The Alexa app gets disconnected from the internet on occasion and requires logging back into. On one occasion the Echo started talking when no one was in the living room and there were no other noise in the house to prompt it to speak so be aware if you are home alone and hear talking - Alexa may talk without being prompted.
