This is obviously no echo plus, but for having at bedside tables/office, or wherever else it is great. i personally have my echo plus in the kitchen+living area and then echo plus' in the rest of the rooms and they work great for lights, locks, and my routines I set with Alexa.

The dot is a great extension of alexa to add on in rooms where you already have Bluetooth speakers and don’t need the full fledged echo speaker system. It’s fantastic as an intercom, just name the dot after the room you put it in, ask alexa to drop in on that room and you can talk to whoever is in there without having to yell. My boys love their dot. They love having alexa in their room to tell them the weather and tell them jokes. I can also see what they’re asking alexa in the app, so they know they can’t get too naughty with her. They really enjoy tune in and asking for their favorite groups. Some people have lots of concerns about privacy, that alexa is always listening. I completely understand. There is the tap that you can set to have to touch to activate, but you can’t use it as an intercom, so there’s that trade off. I have not tried google home, but most of my ecosystem was amazon based rather than google, so I can’t compare the two.

The Echo is very convenient. I use my Echo to turn lights on and off, to listen to music, to set timers, to check the weather....possibilities are endless. There is an Echo for everyone.

Although its only the dot, the speakers are still loud enough and sound great. Alexa helps answer all my questions and helps with stuff such as reminding me about things or as an alarm.

Knew what I wanted and Derek from Geek Squad said they were worth the price! I had a $5,00 rewards certificate and since they are NEVER EVER on sale (even Black Friday) I bought one and plugged it in,in my bedroom and absolutely love it so much that Fred Meyers has several sales on the Dots throughout the year! Just can't figure out why Best Buy NEVER EVER has a sale on the Alexia Amazon Echo or Dots! Sure would make people happy! Be as it may,THANKS Derek for leading me to buying a "DOT!" Now, what's with NO Black Friday specials on Dots? I am buying 6 more Dots thanks to Fred Meyer's! Still love my Best Buy! Gotta go where the sales are going on! BE BACK!!

Alexa has become part of the family! She’s the genius in the bunch! Whatever we need we ask her! Fro waking us up to ordering take out, Alexa does it all! For $30 you can’t beat it

It’s so small and does everything! We listen to all our music, play games and get all the info we ask for. Next product is the Garmin for the car so we can take amazon echo dot with us

The Amazon Echo Dot is a perfect entry product into the Echo community. Half the price of the bigger Echo it offers all the same functionality but has a smaller speaker and thus less music quality and overall is almost invisible in size.. BUT, it has an external spkr. jack while it's bigger brother does not. So just plug in the speaker of your choice or your music system and enjoy great sound. It's got a rather powerful amp as well. Get the experience of Echo and the Alexa servant at a low price. On more difference is the Echo Dot does not have the fancier volume control of it's bigger brother but it still has a simple volume control. Highly recommended.

I've had this for a few days. So far, I am liking it. I am not a morning person. My main use simply for setting an alarm, telling me the weather and traffic before I force myself out of bed. I am waiting for the smart wall plug so I can connect the lamp in my room to it.

bought this for my brother for his birthday, he and his kids loved it. setup was super quick, loved that you could just ask Alexa to play songs by an artist and she did. Much better than looking through your phones different apps to find the artist you want. His 5 year old loved being able to ask Alexa to tell him jokes and she had some pretty good ones. The sound is ok for its size, but best connected to speakers if using in a large room. Alexa, can tell you the news, weather, set alarms and so much more. Purchased more for myself and husband and my brother bought more for his kids. Great price, low enough to buy one for each room.

I am happy that the echo dot can recognize my voice without almost any issue. I have used it mostly to play music, check for my Amazon orders and calendar events and reminders. It is fantastic, fast and I find myself using it more and more. I hope that Google and Amazon end their feud, it seems like it is coming to an end. I would love to control my crhomecast with voice commands out of the box instead of going out of the way to get in configured, it is possible, but it shouldn't be that lengthy at all. Anyone wanting to buy this for Destiny Skills, they work but it might not be what you expect. You can change loads out but only in town, not in planets while you are in combat or even in the planet out of combat at all. It will transfer weapons from your vault to your inventory even if you are out doing events, but you need to equip it yourself. Other than that, for information and clan activities it is pretty sweet.

I have now bought a 2nd Echo for my wife. She loved her first one so much, she wanted a 2nd one for her office at work. The Echo does take some time to set up but it is worth it. After several hours my wife was showing off all that the Echo could do. Lights were turning on and off inside and outside of the house. The TV was turning to the channel she wanted. My wife made a Christmas gift list while changing her music list. I am amazed at what all the Echo can do. But be aware, this is an active listening mini computer that is hooked up to the Internet. Take your time setting it up. Especially the security setting on the Echo and other apps.

The sound produced by the Echo Dot 2 is quite impressive considering its size. Using it is intuitive and the Dot 2 is readily responsive to voice commands from a distance. It was easy to connect with the Beats Pill speaker that was purchased at the same time and together they make a great pair. I can definitely see where it might be nice to have several Dots to create a surround sound effect in various rooms. Wish I'd bought two!

Okay, we all know this device works - and works well, but what to do with a new toy ?? Well, I for one have used it to keep tabs on my aging Mother. I installed it at her home, installed the App on her smart phone, enabled the right switches and from my home I can ask Alex to "Drop-In" or "Call" my Mom. So .... she can just stay in her seat and simply ask Alexa to answer and I'm talking to my Mom ... :-) It is such a nice thing to have to keep tabs on her with. Even if she had an emergency God forbid, she can call me or request Emergency Services without having to retrieve her cell phone or house phone. It's a tool - not a gadget ... :-)

I have now purchased 6 echo dots in the past year. 3 are being used in my home and 3 more have been purchased for gifts. They have been excellent little additions to our bedrooms and the kitchen. The sound quality is good for such a small package and the microphone reception has been outstanding. I highly recommend having Amazon prime to go along with the Dot in order to get the most use out of it. If you order products on a regular basis through Amazon as we do it is also excellent for giving you reminders in notifications that your packages have arrived and it provides exclusive deals through the dot. For $30 now, it is a tremendous value.

I love being able to bring Alexa to an additional room in the house. The Dot is small enough to be inconspicuous but can still respond to commands from the other side of the room.

The Dot is awesome! You get everything you need with Alexis in a smaller package at a cheaper price. We linked it to a plug and Alexis turns the light on when we walk in the door!

Disclaimer: I'm an Amazon junkie -- Prime member so I order things shipped to me frequently, have a Kindle e-Reader (more than one, actually), and regularly buy Kindle books and Audible audiobooks from Amazon, and so Alexa is WONDERFUL for getting info on my orders, deliveries, literally reading Kindle books (that have Text-to-Speech enabled from publisher, which for me is almost all) as well as Audible books just by asking her -- and resuming where I left off in the book on my other devices (phone or Kindle reader, etc.)! Alexa also has pretty spot-on integration with Spotify, so unlike Siri on my iPhone, I can actually ask Alexa on my Echo Dot to play a particular artist or even a particular song through my Spotify premium service, although she will only play it through the built-in speaker or a Bluetooth speaker paired with the Echo Dot itself -- but that's still pretty darn good! Ordering anything from Amazon is super-easy -- maybe too easy, although I did set up a PIN so orders require me to recite the PIN before I place an order -- as is checking status of existing orders and asking about order history. For $50, this is an awesome, surprisingly capable digital assistant. It's fun to get the emails I get periodically from Amazon which have some example things to ask Alexa, so I am constantly finding out new things I can do with Alexa, and unlike with Siri, the API is very open so that third-parties are easily able to extend Alexa's "skills". I am very happy with this purchase and will likely add an Echo Spot (the little tiny one with the round screen) when it is released in December 2017.

The family all enjoys these echo dots. More useful than you realize. Great for checking the weather, setting timers and alarms, playing music, searching the web and so much more.
