We love this, you can use to while cooking to get information on a recipe if your hands are full. Plays music, can set it as a timer or an alarm.

So far, easy set-up and very useful/entertaining! Sounds great. Looking forward to trying it with external speaker(s) to see how it sounds after.

The Echo Dot was easy to set up on my LAN and now we have the perfect information center. Plus, we use it as a timer for cooking or an alarm clock for snoozing, and it can access our Prime Music with ease so we can wake to music. Combining the Echo Dot with the Logitech Harmony Hub allows us to control the entire entertainment system with voice command and it natively supports the Amazon Fire TV stick. Now, I ask Alexa to turn on the TV and watch Netflix, and all devices energize with the correct inputs. Great little device for fun and utility.

Does everything an echo does and speakers are better than advertised. Great price on sale under 30 dollars makes an excellent secret Santa gift.

The Echo Dot is small and compact and has all of the features of the regular Alexa but not the speaker capacity. if you have a separate speaker then sync the Echo Dot it works great and for the price you will be very happy.

The biggest problem I have with my Echo Dot is that it's too new. I should have purchased one months ago. It's GREAT! So great, in fact, that I also bought an Echo......it has much better sound than the Dot, but other than that, in my opinion, they do the same things. My Dot seems to loose internet connection frequently.......it's the only device in the house that does, so I'm not blaming that on the router. We'll see what happens with that issue, I guess. Long story short, don't buy a dot. Buy several! And don't wait......they are amazing!

All the benefits of a full sized Echo, but cheaper and in a smaller package. You can have Alexa read you the news while you get ready in the morning; play you some rain sounds to help you get to sleep at night, and so much more during the day. Control your smart home. Listen to music. Add things to your grocery list. Ask random questions that pop into your head and usually get answers. Use it as an open Bluetooth speaker. I do wish it got louder--I bought this for my kitchen, but can't hear it over running water so moved it into the bedroom.

My wife bought me this and it has been alot of fun.And a handy info center.We ask"alexa" for recipes ,movie facts,games,trivia,listen to music and we are finding more things every day.You can link your amazon account and listen to free music(not sure if you need amazon prime).Also you can link pandora and iheard radio.WE think the sound is great but if you like bass,then go with the 79-100+ dollor echo.The main purpose that most will want this is,when used with smart devices,you can turn lights on/off,dim lights,even control your smart tv.

The echo dot is great. It has all the traits of the other echo’s but is only half the size. What is nice about the dot is that you can connect any Bluetooth speaker to it. That does two things for you. One it can sound better than any of the larger echos and two placing the speaker away from the echo allows for better voice recognition from the echo because it is away from the echo allowing it to hear your voice better. The only time that can be a nuisance is when you want to call or drop in on someone, the dot stops using the Bluetooth speaker and only uses it own speaker and than that is a little hard to hear. Of course it doesn’t have video, but I thing it is actually a little better for some things than the show, which I also on. The dot is a great product.

This darned Echo Dot just works perfectly. It's paired with a Wink 2 Hub that's controlling ZigBee and Z-Wave products. But since Wink isn't controlling Wi-Fi yet, the Dot is handling the TP Link WiFi smart plugs. I've also linked the Dot to my MS Outlook Calendar and first thing in the morning, I am able to have the Dot give me a rundown of what's on my calendar for that day. And if I think of something later that needs done, I just tell Alexa to make an entry in my Outlook Calendar. I've only had it for one week but, it's flawless so far.

This product is a riot, and getting better each day! I get my News update, Play games and control appliances from this little device, Brilliant!

We bought a Dot initially for the voice control of a few smart light switches. It worked so well. We bought 2 more to place in other areas of the house. The best thing is its an awesome assistant. It's our kitchen timer, alarm clock, voice controlled stereo, weather station, game update and instant answer to almost any question you can think of all rolled into one. We love it l.

I have two dots throughout the house. Easy setup and integrates with my smartthings very well. Love sharing music and controlling my fire tvs.

If you are looking to start automating your home, the Echo Dot certainly is a good start. If you want to stream music, you may want to upgrade to a quality Bluetooth speaker. I found that adding the "Google" skill is helpful as Alexa does not know everything. After adding the Google skill, you can ask Alexa to ask Google so you will have access to the Google universe of knowledge. I currently have it connected to a few plug in devices, a wall switch, and some light bulbs. It all works fine. A little slow response sometimes, but it works.

Love this product. Allows hands free activity for daily use like checking the weather, sports updates, playing Pandora music, and much more.

Was all we needed and the price was great. Easy to install and has more abilities with each software update. Using Pandora with it is fine.

Definitely a convienant tool that helps in day to day activities. Being able to connect a home stereo is a bonus. Great price for features.

This is my second Alexa device. Not as nice as our full blown echo, but for the price this is a great product. Having Alexa in the bedroom and the kitchen is really nice. Paring with a bluetooth speaker is a cinch and having it in the bedroom is great using Amazon prime music to play some relaxing sounds for a quick power nap in the middle of the day. Love this device!

If you're looking to get into home automation this is a great entry point for anyone on the fence. The echo dot is small, compact, and stylish enough to not clutter up your home setting. A personal deciding factor for me was audio out to connect to a bose system I already owned (google home does not offer audio out). The dot is surprisingly good at capturing voice from another room or over audio thats playing. It works seemlessly with amazon music as it should and has a great companion app for your phone. The app makes finding, sorting, and overall management of new and old skills a breeze. When having multiple devices in a house music plays very well through every room. This is something i've wanted for quite a long time. It also included features like intercomm and messaging to other alexa users which is gimmicky at best but still cool to have. The speaker is lackluster but thats to be expected from such a small device and is also why I have it connected to a bose system. A tip for those interested in a better speaker in my bedroom and office I have an Echo the next model up which has an incredible speaker with powerful bass with all the same features as the entry echo dot and more.

We're having a lot of fun with the Echo Dot. Easy setup, easy to play music, add things to shopping list. Alexa will even tell you jokes.
