Alexa is awesome! I love the drop feature to connect with other dots!

It's like Siri for your home...... I don't know how I got along without this!

I purchased the Amazon Echo Dot (2nd Generation) for my daughter for her birthday. The Echo Dot is easy to setup, easily identifies what you (and others) say, and works with a variety of other products. I was impressed with the speaker, even though the Echo Dot is so small and sells for a reasonable price. My daughter has enjoyed using the product to tell her the time, turn on and off lights throughout the house, play her favorite songs and get weather updates before school. I would recommend to the Echo Dot to family and friends.

The drop in price was great, but the availability of a smart plug made truly wonderful. I love ordering my music, setting timers, and getting the weather, plus...We have always had a reading light on a timer. On at dusk, off at 11:30. Setting by hand twice a year, turning it on manually if you wanted to read off cycle- really a pain. The plug software lets you set start-stop Times, and there’s an easy press button to turn it on manually. Or, you can vocally command it on and off. A tv hub is next! Great product.

I find that Alexa (the default name of the AI unit that powers the Echo) to be a good digital assistant for basic tasks like playing music, setting alarms and reminders, and checking the price of an Amazon item. I do find that the option of purchasing an item through Amazon is a bit clunky, which is surprising considering that Amazon has every incentive to streamline that process but you do get full search results pushed to the Alexa app on your cell phone. If you are looking forward to using this device to set calendar reminders then you should know that it is really only equipped to handle Google calendars. There may be workarounds but I have not been able to figure one out and frankly you shouldn't need a workaround for something that common. It's a nice device to plug in and ask to run a web search for you and give you some results and offers basic functions like checking the weather and traffic. I do find that it's a bit more helpful and robust than Siri for iOS but at the same time I have more calendar options with Siri and can also place phone calls and text messages, a feature notably lacking with Echo at this time. Still, this is cheap device overall that gets the job done. There are integration options if you have other smart home equipment that seriously increase the usefulness of this device as it becomes a control hub for you but even without any smart home equipment I can still see the usefulness of owning one of these devices.

Got one for my bedroom and paired it with my bluetooth speaker and man I couldn't be happier with this thing. Understands everything i say to it without having to raise my voice even while playing music. I plan to expand beyond the bedroom and have it control all my lights and my ac as well. The possibilities are almost endless. For 50 bucks you really can't go wrong with this. I would have uploaded video but I guess best buy reviews don't allow it which is a shame because pictures alone don't do justice.

The echo dot is great with Pandora. I also use it as a timer and to start my car. The price is a bargain for everything that it does. I link it to my BT sound bar and the sound is great.

Alexa can do many different tasks, Set an alarm, turn lights on if you have the correct parts for that. Play music, get weather, up to date news, historical events

Got htis for a birthday gift. So far I like it a lot. It say it doesnt know a lot still because it's learning. There are alot of "skills" one can equip it with so that it can do a wide variety of things like play music or guided meditations, play games like Jeopardy, 20 questions and would you rather. We also have it connected to the living room lamp and can turn it off and on with our voice. Can call anyone from my phone list with my voice. Can use tile with it to find my keys or phone. I wouldnt have thought I would like it as much as I do but I do...I really like it!

I have been resisting adding the Echo Dot to my gadgets until I found out it pairs well with the Logitech Harmony Hub AV controller and I am glad I did. It took some work to get the two synced, but it was worth the effort. Alexa is pretty smart right out of the box, but I can tell she is learning my voice commands and her accuracy is improving daily. I linked the Dot by Bluetooth to my receiver to get full surround sound quality for music. Finally, my wife can operate the AV equipment with confidence.
