Not much different than echo dot
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is not much difference as far as features go between this & Echo dot. The size is larger and it comes in different colors but other than that it’s very basic, just volume up, down & microphone. I set an alarm but turning it off requires holding volume up & down buttons at the same time. It has a flat bottom & is a bit compact, I have it sitting on a small stand. Set up was super fast & easy through the app & I was connected right away through Bluetooth. I do not have any Alexa devices as far as plugs or switches but I played music & the sound was ok, fairly loud for a small speaker. The power adapter is included but it has to be plugged in all the time. I was hoping that it could be charged & used without the plug so I could take it outside or in different rooms but you can’t do that. This would be great for college or a garage or a small room . It’ s a nice little speaker that sounds half decent but it doesn’t have any great features or options to make it an outstanding speaker.

Posted .Thank you for the feedback on the Echo Pop. I'm sorry to hear of your distaste for the device. The Echo Pop was designed to have a front facing speaker that delivers a full sound. You can ask Alexa to play your favorite music, podcasts, audiobooks, or wind down meditation, sleep sounds, and more. Connect compatible devices for multi room connect compatibility and many other skills. I hope this information is useful, have a great day!

Posted .Hello ShadD! I am glad you were able to take advantage of this promotion! We also appreciate and value any and all feedback on our devices. This device is our entry level product in our smart speaker lineup and is meant to be a great way to take advantage of having Alexa (our virtual assistant for handsfree voice enabled smart home features) while also having a speaker that you can use in any living space within range of an outlet with great audio quality in such a small form. You can use Alexa and the Echo Pop to link up to a wide range of smart home items like doorbells, thermostats, lights, etc. A big added value too is how it can be used to sync up with a Fire TV to allow you to control it hands free by simply asking Alexa to find something without the need for the remote! Not to shabby for the price! Thanks again for your valued feedback and I do hope you have a fantastic day!

Echo Pop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own several Echo devices like the Show and the Echo Plus. This new Pop is very small and basic. PROS: Compact size with front facing speaker. This is an entry model so it offers a low price compared to other Alexa devices. The Pop unit does have good sound quality with prominent and solid bass as well as clear highs. This model is great for listening at low to medium levels in small spaces. Like all Alexa devices this model offers easy setup using the Alexa App. CONS: Volume controls on the top are not easy to find without picking up the device. The controls have subtle raised identifiers on their buttons but it’s still hard to feel them and decide which is which. Volume is good, but will not play super loud. There are no physical connections for other connections, but Bluetooth is included. White cord doesn’t match the device. CONCLUSION: This is a basic good sounding device in a compact design for small spaces. If you want bigger sound consider the Echo Dot. If you budget is tight, this is a great choice and offers all the features you need for using Alexa.

Pop verses Dot!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Newest addition to the Amazon family and it is the prefect size but not a prefect build in my opinion so ;ets get into it, Love the price and I do recommend you purchase one if you are looking to get an Alexa device. But I think the design is better with stand up speaker instead of the dot which lays flat on the surface. The sound is has much more clarity and the bass sounds better than the dot, But be careful because in my opinion you can blow the speaker a lot easier now because it sounds so good you keep turning up and bam their she goes in the trash can because you love to much bass. So just be mindful of increasing the volume on those little speakers they pop easy. I had no problems setting it up, connected right to my wifi in seconds and I could control my lights (I have 8) and I can control my blink cameras (I have 5). The inter action with the Alexa pop is same as dot with the same voices you can chose from as the dot all the stuff is the same as the dot. With exception of the ring that goes around the outside of it and lights up if you have message, I liked from the dot that "pop" doesn't have that's why I gave it 4 stars.

It's the Echo Dot without the Orb
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When my wife and I bought our home just under two years ago I decided I was going to make it a Smart Home. For voice control in the home I choose Amazon’s Alexa. I was using a few Echo Dot 3rd generation devices in our previous home and at the time Amazon had recently released the 4th generation Dot. The 4th generation dot moved away from the small hockey-puck like devices to the big orb design. I ordered one to try it out and enjoyed the improved audio clarity so the 4th generation became my new standard though I would continue to use the existing 3rd generation devices I already owned. With Alexa in 14 rooms in your home and part of your daily routine to do things like turn on the lights or sing to you in the shower you start to notice the nuances between the different generations of the devices. I was growing frustrated with the inconsistent experiences as I went from room to room and for rooms like my gym I wanted a bit more “oomph” to my workout tracks. When Amazon released the 5th generation Dot and we realized asking for the time was one of our most requested verbal requests, I decided it was time to replace all of our devices with the 5th generation Dot. Amazon’s device-trade in program is great and helped us same some cash on this transaction. So we’ve been humming along nicely with stereo paired 5th generation Dots in our kitchen, our gym, and our gaming room where we love to listen to music while playing ping pong. For select rooms we upgraded a few of the Dots to include the digital clock option so we can reduce the amount of times we have to ask for the time. My only complaint continues to be the giant power brick that comes with these devices. I wish Amazon could shrink this thing by at least half size if not more. The Pop ships with this same huge power brick. Yuck. Well my point in sharing this history is that I’ve come to expect certain behavior with the Echo devices and so when I saw the Echo Pop I was intrigued with the design choice of chopping off most of the orb shape and moving from a 1.73” in the 5th generation to a 1.95” speaker. Certainly a smaller footprint would be nice in many places. As long as I didn’t need to stereo pair the device with an existing one I would be ok (Pops and Dot’s can’t be stereo paired, you can only pair Dots to Dots and Pops to Pops). Visually comparing the Pop and the Dot most of my family and friends agree that the Dot is more visually appealing. The Pop looks more like a speaker, but the Pop appears to be much smaller due to the half-orb design though it’s not. The sound quality is great with both devices and for casual commands I don’t notice much of a difference. There is no visual clock option for the Pop which is a bummer because the smaller rooms where I would like to put the Pop are bathrooms where seeing what time it is while getting ready in the morning is more useful but overall if you are already invested in the Alexa devices this is not a bad addition to the product line.

Just Another Echo
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using Alexa for many years now and have tried many different generations and iterations of the Echo. I've done the dot, the flex, the pop, the show, you name it. The pop is the newest line of Echo devices from Amazon that has a great design where the speaker now is forward facing instead of a cylinder. This makes hearing Alexa and whatever she plays/does easier and more projecting. This works great as an alarm clock because you can simple tap the top of the echo and it will turn your alarm off. There really is not anything different feature wise from this and all the other type's of echo devices out there. The sound quality is slightly better than the dots, however, the voice recognition ability of Alexa still is pretty bad. I have had this issue with all my echo dots, and still have this issue with an echo pop. Commands get ignored, or she just completely misunderstands them and does something or says something totally different. I would've expected by now that the microphone would be updated and tuned to be more accurate but it does not appear so. I give this 3 stars because it is not a game changer, it really isn't different than any other Echo device, and it still has the issues that these devices have had for years. Get it if you're new to the Alexa ecosystem, but don't go out of your way to upgrade a newer dot.

Affordable way to get in the eco system.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This for sure is a good little speaker, and the best way to get into the Alexa eco system I say. It's not very expensive, and sounds pretty good. I currently have the Alexa model with the 5 inch screen from a previous model, and it can hear me from anywhere just about when trying to speak to it. This little guy is a new model, and I assume that is the reason it's just as good, if not better when hearing me yell out the key words to make a change. The build quality is really nice, and fits in to most places. It looks good in the kitchen, bedroom, or small office. Nice grip on the surface when seated, and should not slide around unless its on a bad surface or something not stable. Setup is an easy process, just follow the simple instructions. Should not take you long, unless this is your first time. Then it could take a little bit longer than others. Lastly. Sound quality. It's not gonna blow you away, but it will make you smile in disbelief at how loud and clear this speaker can get. I would recommend this speaker to anyone looking to get into smart speakers in 2023.

Great small speaker with Alexa
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Echo Pop is a great little speaker addition to the smart home. It comes neatly packaged with it's own power cord. Plug it in and then you just need to get on the Alexa app on your phone Ios/Android and sign into your amazon account. You can then begin doing the usual Alexa things tell a joke, play music, shop/reorder on amazon etc. The size of the pop is really quite small as you can imagine. You can integrate it into your Amazon eco life to help reproduce sound elsewhere and make a multi speaker output. Buttons are minimal volume up, down and mute. I did encounter some troubles trying to pair it over bluetooth to my phone to play apple music. I could put it into pairing mode and my phone's bluetooth into pairing mode but when I tried to connect it would fail over and over until it just worked and haven't had any issues since. Overall if you need a small speaker to get some music into your garage or other remote area and just need a wifi signal for it this is the way to go.

Echo Dot Alexa performance in a speaker look
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had Alexa devices in many forms. I currently use Echo Dots in a couple of rooms. Other rooms have Sonos speakers integrating Alexa. I thought I would try the Echo Pop to see if they are a good candidate for "upgrading" the Dots. Their form factor is more upright, feeling more directional than the Dots' puck style. The setup was pretty much identical through the Alexa app. Easy. It takes you through a quick tutorial and introduction to get you started. I have a few music services linked in the app so those are available immediately. The physical interface is pretty much the same. Volume down, mute mic, and volume up, from left to right. The Pop tutorial also mentions muting calls by putting your hand over the top. It doesn't work for pausing music though. The light on the top has the same interactive indicators as the Dots' ring light. Overall I don't notice much improvement in sound over the Dot. The voice of Alexa is loud and clear but music is anemic in bass and just ok. I would say if one of your Dots no longer works, if you want to add a device and the Dot is the same price as the Pop then it gives you an alternative look on a table or shelf over the puck style. But for me, I don't consider this an upgrade over the Dot. In a way, I prefer the Dot as it's less visible among other things on the shelf. This looks like a speaker. So that is probably the biggest consideration if both are still available to purchase.

Alexa Sounds
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This design is very simple. Round, one color with a 2 inch light strip on the top. Quiet compact and simple. Very unobtrusive. One thing I found annoying was the unit was black yet the cord was white. Works in some instances but I would have preferred it black as well. Set up was equally simple and quick. I already have an Echo Show in the bedroom which is ultra useful. This will be used in the spare bedroom. The device works like my other Alexa devices and is supposed to be a smart speaker, like a bluetooth mini boom box. I have a few of those as well. Having multiple alexa devices added some interesting options, like announcements through all the devices. The sound is clear and the microphone sensitive. I linked it with a few music apps for streaming. The sound from the Echo Pop was decent. I would say, not as good as my other blue tooth speaker, but definitely acceptable. Whether it is better sound than my Show is definitely debatable. The sound is not bad, or scratchy but not as full bodied or bold as I would have liked. To be realistic, for the price and options, its more than acceptable if not excellent. I have become very attached to Alexa for many everyday uses.

Good Sounding Alexa Enabled Speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazon has a new Alexa enabled device, the Echo Pop. This is a smart speaker that features good sound and is Alexa enabled. The speaker itself is straight forward. It has a light bar on top of it to indicate various statuses as well as 3 buttons. The three buttons are for increasing volume, decreasing volume, and muting the mic. You setup the Pop by way of the Alexa app. When setting this up, I didn't run into any problems as Amazon has made it very simple and easy to do. Since it is Alexa enabled, you can set alarms, routines, etc. to work with the Pop. I found the audio to be a little hot on the base, but overall has a rich clear sound output. The only downside I've found so far is that it doesn't use the more common USB power cable. Instead, it uses a cable that has a barrel connector on one end and a power block built into the other end. It would be good to see Amazon change this in a future version to be a USB-C PD powered speaker. If you are looking for a smart speaker that is Alexa enabled, then consider the Echo Pop. I don't think you'll go wrong with this if you don't need anything more than a good speaker with Alexa capabilities.

Buy it, but certainly not an upgrade.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Echo pop is certainly adequate smart speaker. I have owned many of Amazon Echo models through the various generations. Always been a fan and this new model is no different. It produces great sound and responsive to voice commands. Like all other units in the past, The echo continues display a small light on top to help you the status of the connection or if you have any notifications. Sound quality compared the previous models is negligible. It is however a newer style than previous Dot models which has gone through small hockey puck looking design to a round ball of various sizes Would I go out to buy this model just to replace an older model? Probably not. But for any newcomer coming into the Echo speakers, I wouldn’t hesitate with this one either. However I do find that the older Dot generation with a clock is a better option personally. Especially if the echo is in a room without a clock near by. So buy it if you need a new speaker or if you like the half done style. but don’t consider it as an “upgrade” to previous dot models.
