If you're an Alexa fan this would be fantastic because it has the screen. My only problem is that I'm already comfortable using my laptop for anything Alexa can do. Also I'm not up to speed on using the skills - which i guess are the echo equivalent of apps. But for answering questions i could just use ok google on my phone which can go anywhere. This is tethered to a wall, which is fine for what it is and i wouldn't want something battery powered anyway. But then my wife started talking about getting echo dots for every room because they were on sale and I'm like, hey, just keep your phone in your pocket and you've got more power than echo with you anyway. Alexa rarely understands what i want (maybe i just don't ask right) and when she does, can give only a single result (which is invariably not my first choice) instead of being able to choose from dozens of options like when i do a Google search. She won't even give a satisfactory search of Amazon shopping options. I end up going to the laptop to do that anyway. In time artificial intelligence will improve. For now it seems still just a novelty. With practice perhaps my success with it will improve. If someone wants to get ahead of the technological curve and start learning how to interact with AI now then this would be an ok option. But keep in mind she is constantly listening to your private conversations to target advertising to you. The device is attractive and functions well. The speaker sounds good and it can connect to bluetooth.

Overall Great Unit With a Few Quirks

The merging of an echo with a screen was and is fantastic idea. The first generation echo show was a step up for me as I had only used the echo dots. Now i can see a visual representation on a screen. Everything from words to songs, receipes, and even my Nest cameras. I am very pleased with this item. Sound quality is lightyears beyond the standard dot. Music plays louder and you will get a better bass response as well. The reason for the 3 stars is 1) being a first generation unit it is slower to respond than the newer units. 2) I noticed a glitch in the unit. The first unit I purchased was returned after less than a month because the screen had lines in it and it would constantly jump. After receiving a new unit, 2 months in the same thing began to happen. What I discovered has something to do with the auto screen brightness setting. Deactivating the auto brightness eliminated the problem. Not sure what is actually going on but several people have had the exact issue. Overall I still would recommend.

    Very Disappointed in this Product

I love Echo everything but i will be completely honest about this product. It worked great for about a week and after the week the screen started to glitch really bad. I unplug it and it worked normal for a couple days and it starts doing it again. I went online to see any fixes for it and there were none. All of the advice from customers were to unplug and plug back in. There was another one to manually lower the back light all the way down but it still continued to have the problem, Everything else was great about it just the screen glitch was my problem. Echo Show 2 is WAY BETTER than this.

    Nice but some issues

I loved this thing until it was time to go to bed. Although it dims, the lowest setting is still very bright--like sleeping with a flashlight in your face. I hope they make fixes that will allow the screen to dim more. Also, not crazy about having a camera connected to the Internet on my nightstand. If you cover it up, the motion sensor then won't work. The sound is OK--not quite as good as the non-screen Echo--maybe because it's not omni-directional like the regular Echo. My enthusiasm for this device has subsided quite a bit because of these issues.

I was against getting the Amazon Echo Show because we have the Echo and the dot and I find Alexa is not that helpful. My husband convinced me to get the Echo Show so we could video call his sisters, (they live on the mainland), and parents. Since the sisters have apple products, we have android, and the parents have neither, the Echo Show makes it easy to keep in touch. The screen size is perfect and the sound is good. The downfall is that the Echo Show will not play YouTube videos and Alexa still isn't that helpful. In all fairness, I just got this for Christmas so I'm sure there is more to the Echo Show than I actually discovered so far.

The speakers randomly pop no matter what screen it’s on, even the home screen. Alexa stinks at math and doesn’t understand much. I definitely prefer Google over Bing (their search engine). My wife hates it, but we continue to use it to monitor amazon cloud cams and I use it for music. My wife spent numerous hours on the phone with customer support trying to link her Amazon music accounts which did not work. All in all, I will keep it, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless the glitches are fixed.

Nice novelty...sort of a waste of a screen

Great sound, easy set up. The screen seems sort of wasteful now that I've been playing with it. Maybe it has the capability to work as a digital picture frame....I'm just certain yet. I was able to set one picture to it...Not multiple. Would be nice if could be used for Hulu or Netflix and stuff since the picture and sound are so clear. I like the visual to do and shopping lists. Still worth the purchase. A good want to have...just not a must have...then again maybe I have not tapped into all it can do.

Not as convenient as ads make it seem

This item seems great on the ads, but it reality it can’t do nearly as much. To get it to do more you have to download “skills”, some of which work well and others of which do not. Some are reviewed, but many are not. Connecting is often difficult and sometimes the password you use has to be the same as your Alexa device (which no body tells you). I’m sure with some practice this device will be fun and useful, but learning to use it and sorting through the skills is a pain.

The Echo was so good, I ended up getting the Echo Show as well. At first it was a device that I enjoyed using for various reasons, one being that I could ask Alexa to watch any YouTube videos I wanted to watch. Then one day, I asked Alexa to play a video and she responded by saying,"Google is not supported on Echo Show." Until YouTube comes back as a skill, the Echo Show probably isn't worth the extra money. I'd say stick with the Echo if you have Amazon Music or Spotify, or the Echo Dot if you only use the echo as part of your smart home.

I am an electronic nerd and this thing is okay but could easily be much better. You can watch prime movies on it but it will not show you the full library. you have to know the movie name or ask to see a gernre and it will only show you 20 movies per genra. 99% of everything you do has to be done by voice which is annoying. it has a touch screen let me navigate the device with the touch screen. don't make me speak to it to make it do everything. on the positive the speaker is decent and it is nice to view my arlo cameras on it

    Camera positioning needs work

The Show works ok, but the microphone reception does not seem to be as good as my Echo or Dots. The camera position is awful though because it is positioned at an angle that limits where you can place it at ans still be able to use the video call function. We've had to put some erasers under it to get it angled so that it actually shows us to our callers. Disappointed that Amazon or Best Best doesn't have many choices on stands to help correct this issue.

Its a great product, but for the cost, the speakers are not what they should be, and the screen is too small. Choosing what is desplayed on the screen is something i still have not figired out. Hopefully software updates will fix the minor problem, and a second generation will hopefully fix the hardware downfalls. Voice recognition is also not as good as the eco dot. I am not recomending this product at this time because of the cost and poor performance.

good to have in the kitchen in a connected home you can catch news updates play sirus xm with a subscription, also watching prime video while in the kitchen is nice. The only negative I have is the sound quality. The sound is shallow and flat with no depth. This was fixed in the newer version and I will upgrade in the future but for the price I am happy with the echo show

in theory this is a great device. however it just can’t do much more than a regular alexa device aside from be a glorified picture frame, awkward web browser, or hulu box. if the software allows it do more things and support additional streaming services it could be a great kitchen assistant/tv box combo but as it stands now i couldn’t find a good use for it and returned it two days later.

The show has some nice features but the audio quality isn’t the best for the price point. I got mine on sale and am just using it for a bedroom alarm clock. I can read the time without my glasses. I still use my Sonos Play 1 to listen to my sleep playlist and ny other music. Unless I missed something it seems like if I set the volume low at night to listen to music to go to sleep my alarm will not be loud enough. So I don’t use the Show for music much.

Alexa may be new, but I would have thought some of the simple commands she would have been able to respond to already. For the amount Amazon charges, it should come with better instructions, including what specifically to download into one's device (iPhone, etc.) so as to make some apps ready to go. Amazon dropped the ball on this one.

I do like Alexa over Siri. However I prefer Apple Music over Amazon music. There is a lot of music I cannot find on Amazon that is easily found on Apple Music. I would have given this 5 stars if it was able to connect to my Apple Music. I don’t understand why Amazon would allow other music streaming services but not Apple.

I got this to work with my Arlo Pro camera, and it works well. I am able to have my camera for driveway and front door come up on command. I hate that I cannot get my Samsung TV to come on with a verbal request. I guess I will have to buy the plug for it. This was very easy to set up. Downloaded the app, and plugged it in, viola it walks you through the setup.

The device itself is pretty awesome. i like having it in my kitchen so i can just vocally add things to lists when i think of them, or request recipes and other information. However, three months after i had this device the screen started shaking with horizontal lines on it.
