Device is extremely slow and touchscreen is lagged in its response. I would expect better performance from a device that’s in the same pricing category as the fire tablets or entry level Chromebook’s. Menus are difficult to interact with.

Picked this up for the new hey disney features it’s advertised with. The unit just seems to need more computing power. At times it will freeze up or lag or things just wont load properly.

I recently got the Amazon Echo Show 5 Kids (3rd Generation) in the Galaxy theme for my 10 year old, and I must say, it has been a fantastic addition to our home.
Design and Build Quality:
The Galaxy theme of the Echo Show 5 Kids is visually stunning. It adds a playful touch to our child's room and immediately captures their attention. The device is very sturdy, ensuring it can withstand the inevitable bumps and tumbles that come with kids. It's designed with children in mind, and Amazon has done an excellent job in making it both appealing and durable.
Content and Educational Value:
One of the standout features of this device is the abundance of child-friendly content and educational resources. My child can access a wide range of age-appropriate videos, books, and interactive activities. As a parent, I appreciate the peace of mind knowing that my child is engaging with content that is not only entertaining but also educational.
Parental Controls:
The Echo Show 5 Kids comes with robust parental controls, allowing me to customize my child's experience and set time limits for screen time. This feature provides me with the flexibility to strike a balance between entertainment and responsible device usage. It also helps me ensure my child's safety while they explore the digital world.
Alexa Integration:
The integration of Alexa is seamless and incredibly useful. My child can ask Alexa questions, play music, set alarms, and even control smart home devices, all with simple voice commands. It's not only convenient but also a great way for kids to learn how to interact with technology.
Sound and Display Quality:
While the sound quality is decent for a device of this size, I would have appreciated a bit more volume. However, it's more than sufficient for casual listening and watching. The 5.5-inch display is vibrant and sharp, making videos and graphics look engaging.
Overall:
The Amazon Echo Show 5 Kids in the Galaxy theme is a fantastic addition to any household with children. It strikes the perfect balance between entertainment and education while offering robust parental controls. The design is eye-catching, and the Alexa integration adds a layer of interactivity that kids love. I highly recommend this smart display for parents who want to provide their children with a safe, fun, and educational digital experience. It's a galaxy of possibilities right at your kids' fingertips!

My daughter opened a broken item with a cracked screen on Christmas. I tried to exchange it at the store and was told because it was an internet special I had to now pay the difference of full price to get a replacement. Also paid almost $30.00 extra for expedited shipping and still didn't receive it for two weeks after the expected arrival date.

Hello paul! I am so terribly sorry for the trouble you are having with the setup of your new Echo Show. If it continues to lock up, you can try holding Volume Down and Mute down simultaneously for a full 30-60 seconds until you see the orange bar appear on the bottom of the screen and your device power cycles back to the Amazon logo. This is a hard factory reset and can sometimes fix issues like this during setup. If you still are having issues, I would recommend reaching out to Amazon Customer Support at 888.280.4331 to troubleshoot further and to explore your options. I do hope that we can resolve this issue with you and get you and your daughter the experience we were all expecting! Thank you so much for taking time to leave feedback and I do hope you have an amazing day!

Great Parental Controls, Includes Amazon Kids+

My kids have grown up with smart devices and my son, who just turned 8, has been asking for a smart speaker for his room. The Amazon Echo Show 5 Kids is the only smart device I have found that fits this purpose. And I'm not talking about the cool design, Amazon have customized the software, added parental controls, include a Kids+ subscription, and have privacy features like a physical camera privacy cover. So was willing to give this a go for my son. Setup was easish, it's all done on device and took about 5-7min. There's more re-entering of the password than I remembered with my other Amazon devices, but I think this makes sense as one of the privacy and parental control features is some changes are locked behind password authentication. I appreciate Amazon's focus on parental controls and restrictions, as you don't want your kid to unlock it to a full Amazon Echo until you're confident that they are ready (at least 13+ years of age). What I love about the Echo Show Kids is it seems a little more fun and whimsical than the standard Echo, it gives random trivia and the Amazon Kids+ subscription is amazing (worth the price of the device alone). Even better it unlocks 1 year of Amazon Kids+ everywhere you have Amazon, so it's super awesome. One of the things I wasn't sure about was whether there would be enough age appropriate content for an 8 year old. For some reason, I thought it was more toddler content but that's not the case. Kids+ content sits in ranges up 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. There's also a great dashboard available on the Amazon website so you can see what content your kids are using on the Echo Show Kids. This part is honestly the best as you can set time limits on use of games and videos, require completing of educational content before the can play games, etc. I know some parents might not like this and think it's a bit invasive, but compared to the alternatives - it's really the best there is. It's better than letting your kids have their own phone or iPad, and you know the content has been checked by Amazon. I can honestly see us renewing the Kids+ subscription for a few years. Overall, impressed and would recommend.

I am happy to have gotten this just in time for my daughter and son who have just started school. I have two younger kids which are 5 years old and 3 years old. Setting up the echo show kids 5 was quite simple; I was happy to see that it came with 1 year subscription for Amazon kids. Which is something I have had for both my kids and they love all of the content of that subscription that was definitely a plus that it came with! I already had an amazon account so all I had to do when setting it up was sign in to my account and all of my information was there as well as the amazon kids information for my children. Upon finishing setting up the echo show kids 5; I had so much fun doing it with my kids they liked picking the settings setting up Alexa. They loved that Alexa's voice can be curated to a fun character of their choosing! They are able to speak to Alexa freely and are enjoying hearing Alexa's voice responses with the fun voice they have chosen. I really enjoy listening to audiobooks before bed as well as putting on the sleep sounds to help the kids relax and peacefully fall asleep. I really like being able to set an alarm to get us all up and ready to go in the mornings. My kids are enjoying being able to speak to Alexa and access the Amazon kids content on the echo show kids 5; they can play their music, listen to their audible books and access their games and shows. I haven't used the homework help feature yet since my daughter has yet to have any homework. I will definitely try that feature out when the time comes!

Great Add-On for an Alexa household

This is a great addition to an Alexa household. We set it up in my daughter's room and I'm able to talk to her from the living room, set reminders for household tasks and chores, and call her to dinner. She loves that she's able to listen to her favorite music and hear audio books and get quick help with tough homework. We've also set up smart bulbs in her room, and she loves being able to turn the lights on and off and set the brightness to a desired level. While there was some concern about having a smart device in my daughter's bedroom, parental and privacy controls are robust. I love that I can set time limits (so no using the device after bedtime) and that I can check her activity on my dashboard. So she has some freedom and independence, but I'm able to monitor her use and guide her or restrict access as needed.
It's easy to set up and integrate into a preexisting Amazon setup. Like all of my Alexa products, this is well made. The screen is bright during the daytime hours, but the screen goes dark during the evening. The Galaxy design is fun. I wish they offered fun designs in the devices designed for adults!

Awesome Smart Device For Kids

The Amazon Echo Show 5 kids is a cool smart display designed especially for kids. The design is sturdy and compact. It can easily fit on a nightstand or a dresser, and uses a classic design similar to an alarm clock. The 5.5 inch touch screen is clear and responsive. The materials are quality but don’t scream “premium”. The color scheme is colorful and really appealed to my 6 year old.
The Show Kids does all the things a smart device should do. It has access to Alexa, apps, alarms, reminders, and everything else you’d expect. The Amazon Kids service is what really makes the Show shine. I generally have non-Alexa smart devices in my home, and I tend to be cautious about letting my child use them unattended. After spending some time with the Amazon Kids app (a year of service is also included) I was relieved by the content and the level of control I had over the content and device. My daughter was able to quickly learn how to enjoy age appropriate music, videos, audio books, all on her own.
Just be cautious about some minor bugs like setting an alarm that goes off after the lock out time. You’ll end up with an alarm that you won’t be able to turn off! The good news is the device can be updated over Wi-Fi via the Alexa app. Hopefully, future updates make the device even better!
Overall, the experience was smooth, and my daughter loves it. As a parent, the ability to control the content, apps, usage times and restrictions is reassuring.

The Amazon - Echo Show 5 Kids (3rd Generation) 5.5 inch Smart Display with Alexa – Galaxy produces the entertainment and fun that tablets or cell phones usually provide. I got the Echo Show up and running in no time, with no problems created. After submitting my Amazon username and password, I merely had to connect my internet and then accept or decline features. Services can be added and settings can be changed anytime. I was instructed to install the Alexa and Amazon Kids+ apps for better use of the Echo Show 5. On the home screen, there is a pull down screen that includes settings, brightness, notifications, alarms, communicate, music, Amazon Kids, and videos. Tapping Amazon Kids goes to four topics to choose from which are Stories, Skills, Videos, and Music. Stories are books read aloud with audible. Skills go to a knowledge based concept of life lessons that educate children about history, science, language, games and much more. Videos give recommended cartoon videos. My Grandson loves watching Daniel Tiger and Paw Patrol. Music streams songs from iHeart Radio Family Kids Club. As part of my grandsons Amazon Kids+ subscription the Amazon kids + app allows on the go Read books play games watch videos with a mobile device. Amazon - Echo Show 5 Kids also allows for Drop in calling whereby my Grandson can have family and approved friends contact him through text messaging or video calling. My grandson is kept occupied all day with his new “toy” that never stops giving him the content for mental growth and exploration. The Amazon - Echo Show 5 Kids (3rd Generation) 5.5 inch Smart Display with Alexa – Galaxy is a necessary device to help children learn about the world past and present.

Great upgrade from a regular Echo Kids

I had an older Echo for Kids model that has gradually fallen out of favor with my twins, but I had already been researching a newer model when I was given a chance to review the new Echo Show 5 Kids edition. After a few days of use, I'm happy to say that the upgrades in the newest generation make a huge difference for my kids. Namely, the new processor and adaptive listening modes help the Echo Show 5 understand my kids better, who both can stutter a bit when trying to concentrate hard to get a phrase out that Alexa understands. There's been a notable improvement in the number of times they have to repeat themselves with the new Echo Show. This alone has made this worth the upgrade.
The design of the unit with the galaxy print on the fabric looks really cool expecially for my science loving kids. The screen functions as an alarm clock or gives them some extra options for music controls or watching a video. Audio from the Echo Show 5 is actually really impressive. The sound quality is at least as good as a standalone bluetooth speaker in this price range would be, and with the Echo Show you get a lot more than just a speaker.
Using the included Amazon Kids+ is great and easy to manage from the parent dashboard. I configured a standalone "Kid" account for use with the Echo Show so it could have a different time limit from their tablets and TV accounts. If you are like me and don't want your kids to be asking their Echo questions well past bedtime, I definitely recommend this!

The Amazon Echo Kids Show is a smart device that comes with safety features built-in like parental controls, kids-friendly media content, and hardware buttons to disable the mic and camera. You also get 2 years of worry-free warranty along with a year subscription to Amazon Kids. Also for this year's version the audio has been improved and a new faster processor to help with last year's complaints of lag.
There’s a lot of kids' content you get access to when you’re subscribed to Amazon Kids. There are plenty of TV shows and games to keep your kids entertained for hours.
I do have some quirks about it and it has to do with navigation and performance. Navigation can be confusing at times and you end up with a frustrated child lol. From time to time it will slow down and sometimes need a reboot to fix it. Maybe an update can fix some of these issues.
I definitely can recommend the Echo Kids Show it comes with parental controls that allow me to set limits so they don’t end up staying up past their bedtime, and that 2-year worry-free guarantee means my wallet gets a peace of mind too.

We chose the 3rd generation Amazon - Echo Show 5 Kids for our 10-year-old grandson and we figured he would love it and he does. Since we already have an Echo, Show the Alexa app and a Prime membership, this Echo Show automatically found our network and connected instantly after inputting our name and password.
Once set it, the Echo Show also comes with a free one-year subscription of Amazon Kids+, which is a nice added feature. Amazon Kids+ is very easy to use and has lots of learning games, videos, music and apps. Everything loaded with no issue while testing it and our grandson didn't have any issues either.
While also testing it, I definitely wanted to make sure the parental settings worked well and they did. You're able to restrict the settings from the Alexa app if necessary. If you choose not to have any parental settings, this Echo Show will just like a regular Echo Show, which is good as this Echo will stay here with us, but he'll play with it when he comes to visits on the weekends.
At this point, I can't find any issues with the Echo Show for kids.

The Amazon Echo Show 5 Kids, is a wonderful addition to the Amazon Echo family. It took only a few minutes to set up, and my daughter was having a blast with it. She was watching kids' shows, asking "Alexa," questions.
Overall this is a great device, it was very easy to set up. A parent will definitely have to be the one to set up the device because there are a ton of questions and things that you may or may not want to allow your child to have on their Echo device. It has a camera on it, but you can close the cover on it so it no longer is functional. Other than that feature I really am pleased with it and so is my daughter.
Overall it's another great Echo Product and it's fun for kids. Of course one of the great features about the device is that when dinner is ready you can of course make an announcement and it will do just that. However, the downside to that is, that your kids can make announcements too like "We're hungry," while you're on the phone, but hey it's all in good fun. Once again it is a great product and fun for the kids.

My 4 year old kid is having a blast using this device! We have always had Google home devices at home and wanted to try the Amazon Echo Show 5 Kids (3rd Gen) solely for my kid to use. Setting it up was a breeze, basically as easy as just following the onscreen instructions. I did not have the Alexa app on my iPhone to begin with, so I had to download the app in order to be able to connect the Echo Show with my iPhone and get more out of the device. It is where I set up the calling (synching with my contacts) and messaging. It is also easy to manage the music list and other settings through the Alexa app on the iPhone. Although technically you do not need to download the app because this device will work without synching it with an app. I installed the Alexa app so I can view the Echo Show camera through my iPhone. Once the device is connected to my home network, it can now 'talk' to my phone. Both the Alexa app and the Echo Show 5 are synched seamlessly. As far as the device's listening skills is concerned, I noticed that it can detect my voice better as compared to our Google home. I always find I have to repeat myself with Google, but Alexa knows right away that it's me. Also, since this device is geared for kids, you can select different voices such as panda, dragon, owl. The way that these voices talk I feel is very clear and appropriate for kids. My kid likes that when she asks Alexa about the weather, the answer uses animated background sounds as well as appropriate visuals on the screen. Now she asks Alexa about the weather every day! We are used to using Google home to play video of something, and since YouTube is the same company, it's easy to just instruct Google to play videos. For the Echo Show 5 Kids, a parent needs to set up Alexa to play music and videos from streaming devices. There are many more things this device can do such as setting up alarm for waking up, setting up reminders, listen to Audible books, etc. The device also includes a one year subscription to Amazon Kids+ so my kid can watch age appropriate videos, songs and games. She's currently watching her Peppa Pig videos as I am typing this review. Overall, this device is a good addition to our home network. Although my kid would have preferred the screen to be bigger since she's used to viewing from her iPad.
