I had an older Kindle Fire and thought the transition to this one would be smooth. I was even encouraged to turn in my old one one the spot. After cleaning up the old one and saving the old files on the cloud I thought....I bought this updated version to find that it does not recognize the old files....so much for it being saved on the cloud. Then instead of it having an ad whenever I turn it on....ads also clutter the screen with the apps. I was happier with the older model and regret turning it in for a credit....which somehow dropped $10 in value in the time it took me to prep it before I deregistered it. If you didn't have an older model you probably will be happy with this one.

This tablet looks good, feels light to hold, HD screen, allows expandable storage, good speakers, and it only costs $49.99 on sales. Really good deal for a decent tablet!

I've had other kindles and this has been the best. I use it for watching movies, listening to music and books and even find time to use it to read those books. Great item

Purchased for my grandson for Christmas. Comes charged and ready to setup. Setup process is relatively painless, though it does require an Amazon account and payment source. The display is bright and sharp and response snappy. Available memory from the indicated 16 GB is around 10 GB after stock apps and operating system space allotted. For daily use that should be sufficient but downloaded content (not necessarily application) can be stored on a micro SD card (not included). All in all I'm very pleased with this purchase. Should my opinion change after Christmas, I'll let you know. ;)

I must admit, it was difficult going from Apple iPad screen to the Fire HD 8 (clarity still doesn't compare), but honestly, you can get over that pretty easily. If all you need/use a tablet for is media consumption like streaming shows on the go, reading kindle, reading online newspaper and the occasional websurfing, this is the tablet to get. Best part is the microSD slot. You can put in a card and get the ability to download and store a lot of shows for those time you don't have the internet. If you use Amazon Kindle books and watch TV shows on the go, this is the tablet to get.

the fire hd is a great tablet either for a beginner or a master you can navigate with ease and with expandable memory you can store tons of photos or videos.

I thoroughly enjoyed using this tablet for the two weeks I had it. I ultimately decided to give it away when I opted to also purchase the Amazon Fire HD 10. The 10 better fit my needs for watching movies as well as a better resolution. However, this tablet provided excellent Battery Life and portability and a lightweight frame. I would definitely purchase this item again for gifts.

It's good saving. I don't want to get ipad is break for kid. Amazon fire 8 is asweome. I bought it for kid. Kid plays learn games and YouTube kid too.

For an 8" tablet, the Kindle Fire HD8 is impressive. I got it for my wife and she LOVES it! Easy to setup, very easy to use, and a really great screen!

This tablet is worth the price, the only drawback is that the camera's are really low quality. If Amazon will upgrade that then this will be a perfect device for the price.

I love how thin it is. I previously had the Samsung Galaxy tab 2 and honestly I like this one better. Its simple, has a beautiful user interface, and it multitasks well. The battery life is great. Very loud speakers to be a tablet. Its much different from an iPad or Android tablet, it took a little bit of exploring to fully figure everything out, and the settings are more limited but it works for what I need. The only con I've found so far is that the Appstore is more limited than Apple or Google Play but I haven't had a problem finding similar apps.

this was a replacement for an existing Kindle that I have. I just wanted a bigger one and it works great, I love that the battery lasts longer and that I can talk to it.

I love kindle. Best value for money. Replacing my older model with the 8in. Like that it is expandable as I ran out of space on other one.

Works just as well as he iPad mini. Kids don't notice a difference and at this price, I'm not terribly concerned about breakage or loss.

This is a perfect and inexpensive mid-range tablet you can use for apps, email, movies, music, books, web surfing, pictures, and videos.

Great device with more space than previous models. Screen is brilliant and memory is expandable now. Oh yea, and my daughter loves it.

I have the fire 7 and it's battery last a long time. Got this one for my mother since it's screen is bigger.

Love the size, color, and ease of use Could come with better instructions since buying for someone who's not much of a gadget user
