Its very user friendly, and has amazons parental controls which are very helpful and insightful if you have children. You can set how many hours, what type of application or entertainment they can access and what it will not be active. It is a bit battery weak, so you will have to charge it more often than say a galaxy tab but its fantastic for the use I have it for.

I’m sure there’s a way to turn it off, I’m just too lazy right now to deal with it.

Posted .Hello CrystalB! I am glad that you are enjoying your Fire HD 8 tablet. You are correct that there is a way to turn off Alexa on your tablet and it is very easy so you can toggle it on or off whenever you would like to use the feature. The easiest way to accomplish this is to swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the toggle for Alexa Hands-free. If you have icon shortcuts instead of labeled icons when you swipe down, it is the icon that looks like a side profile of a person's face with an X in front of the mouth. If you would like to turn the feature off completely, you can do this by swiping down from the top of the screen, tapping Settings (the gear icon), Alexa, then toggle it off. This will make the icon disappear entirely from the swipe down menu. I hope this helps resolve your issue and that you have a terrific day!

Best Buy’s protection plan is great and provided me this at no cost. My mom loves to read and the ability to increase the letter size is vital as her vision isn’t great. She can also check her emails and Facebook activity on this.
