The productivity bundle we are using consists of the Fire Max 11” tablet, stylus and attachable keyboard. It’s really a nice setup for travel, streaming or use by younger members of the family. The detachable cover attaches magnetically to the back with the keyboard half attaching magnetically to one side. It seems to be a nice, solid fit and even offers a kickstand in the back for ease of ease. The stylus conveniently attaches magnetically to one side also. Setup was very straight forward which included an update of the tablet. As part of setup, I’d advise going into Settings and modifying the Security & Privacy options as it relates to device usage data collection, app usage data collection and advertising data collection. It does take a little getting used to seeing an ad upon powering up the tablet. The tablet, as expected, seems to integrate quite nicely with Amazon related content. We also loaded some popular apps like Max, Netflix and Disney+. It doesn’t take too long to get used to the operating system to navigate between screens and apps. I like that the keyboard includes keys for video play functions, volume and brightness. The keys have a nice feel and built in track pad is nice to have also. The touchscreen is very responsive and the stylus equally works well. For the tasks we have utilized the Fire Max tablet for the processor speed has been more than sufficient. One has to take into consideration the value this tablet offers so I wouldn’t really expect a graphic designer to be the target market by any means. The screen resolution and 11” size works nicely for watching movies and videos. It may not compare exactly to some of the specs found in an I-pad, but again this is a great value for the build quality and features offered in the Fire Max tablet. It’s a nice option to have the ability to add additional storage with an SD card too. Camera quality is one area that is okay, but not great, yet it seems acceptable for the value this tablet offers. I’d recommend the Fire Max 11” tablet if you’re looking for a great value with some very nice features. Anyone purchasing this likely is looking for the emphasis on Amazon integration, along with some Microsoft products, as opposed to Google apps. I’d strongly recommend the detachable keyboard and stylus accessories also as it makes for a nice, functional package.

Hardware quality has vastly improved with this release. Software on this tablet leaves alot to be desired. Unable to install most of my frequently used applications using APK installer. Applications apppear to install but crash immediately upon launching, I know these apps should run on a Fire Tablet as I have installed them via APK installer on a fire 10 without issues. I believe they may have done something with the Fire OS on this model that pre-empts the installation of third party applications. Sad because as I mentioned earlier hardware wise this is a sweet tablet. But in the end if you can't run the software you need it really is not of much use. Buyers beware!

The tablet cost is excellent, and the interface is simple and not cluttered. It has much storage space for what I use it for. This is the third fire tablet that I have purchased.

I've used multiple Amazon Fire tablets over the years. Generally serving as capable and cost-effective content consumption devices oriented around Amazon's digital offerings, they've never been head turning devices, usually sticking to unassuming black plastic designs. The Fire Max 11 eschews this trend for a more premium look, with a large and vibrant 11" screen and a metal chassis that features a fingerprint reader in the power button. The Fire Max 11 is capable of being used with separately sold keyboard case and pen, and this combination marks Amazon's foray into the productivity tablet market. Alas, it is software--specifically, the aging fork of Android that Fire OS is based on, and the accompanying, anemic Amazon app store--that mainly serves to hold this device back. The Fire Max 11 is a nice looking, and feeling, tablet. With 64GB of internal storage plus an available microSD card slot, there's plentiful potential storage. The fingerprint reader resides in the power button on the side, and I found it reasonably fast and accurate, although in many configurations you might well find it much quicker to simply use a passcode. The screen is a 1200x2000, 11" screen that's bright and appealing. While making some gestures towards being a productivity tablet with its size, storage, and available accessories, the aspect ratio here again lends itself more towards content consumption--for productivity, I'd prefer more vertical height when in landscape mode. Still, with the nice screen and stereo speakers (but alas, like so many other devices, no headphone jack, so Bluetooth only) it's a compelling content consumption device, especially if you're invested in the Amazon digital ecosystem for music, movies, and books. Battery life is good, and performance is zippy and responsive. Going around the device you'll find the connectors for the keyboard accessory, volume controls and power, the SD card slot, and the stereo speakers. On the back is a single 8MP camera, while another camera resides at the top (when in landscape mode) on the front. Thankfully, the Fire Max uses a Type C port for charging. Wireless connectivity consists of WIFI 6 (I got 422Mbps download speeds during testing off my Netgear Orbi router system and 1Gbps fiber connection, typical for my WIFI 6 devices) and Bluetooth. The ultimate problem with this device--and if I were reviewing solely on it being a productivity tablet I would be much more negative--is that the OS, which is a fork of Android a few versions behind, is outdated and very busy, and the app selection far too limited. What productivity software is available is largely limited to Microsoft Office offerings, so if you're a Google Workspace user, you're somewhat out of luck unless you want to attempt running everything through the Silk browser. Likewise with any AI services--there are basically no apps available. Given the evident partnership with Microsoft to supply productivity software, allowing Microsoft's very good Chromium-based Edge browser on the platform would seem an obvious improvement, which would also give better access to Bing AI. Things aren't so dire on the content side, with the obvious exception of Google's Youtube, which exists as a browser shortcut only. Netflix, Spotify, Max, and Disney+ are available alongside Amazon's own robust offerings for Prime members, so finding things to watch, read, or listen to is no problem. Ultimately, because of the nicer hardware, snappy processor, and large, inviting screen, I would recommend this as the best possible Amazon Fire tablet for content consumption. For that purpose, the limitations of the software do not hold the tablet back from being a very satisfying alternative to an iPad or another Android tablet. However, the software is just not there for this to be a really useful productivity tablet, for which I'd probably look elsewhere. This is, without doubt, the best hardware I've seen Amazon release as a tablet. They just need to bring the software up to the same level.

Better than the Fire 10…it’s Fire 11! Buy yours today wherever Fire 11’a are sold. Battery doesn’t last as long as my 10 so I guess it’s not better. Oh well.
