I am an AV Installer, This little Box can control a smart home quite well. The voice recognition for me has been flawless, responsive and useful. Commands like: Alexa turn on curio cabinet are understood the first time said. Useful room grouping allows commands like Alexa turn on the living room, and lights TV, whatever you put in the group will turn on. I am excited to expand and push Alexa's limits, There are also skills that are useful, games, and apps. I use PlayStation Vue with it. Amazon music, I am able to ask for my playlists by name. enough said. Try it. For the price, you're robbing them.

I purchased this on sale, it only cost a bit more than a 4K Roku stick. At first I regretted purchasing it, and wanted to exchange it for a Roku; but, ended up keeping it in hopes that Amazon will release updates to make it better. I had hoped that the Cube would serve as a media player; but, also be able to replace the Echo Dot that's in the bedroom; but, it sort of can't replace an Echo. I usually ask my Echo to play music for sleep at night, and it plays music through its built in speaker; where the Cube has a built in speaker; but, it can't stream music without turning on the TV, which creates annoying light that I don't want while trying to fall asleep. It's also not smart enough to be able to turn the TV off in x-minutes or x-hours. I wish the Cube didn't want to use the TV for almost everything, and that it were able to use its built in speaker for more things. I did end up keeping it, and it's pretty useful for some things, like I can ask it to play a certain show, and it'll turn on the TV and play the show, and then when done I can ask it to turn off the TV. With that said, it does some annoying things, like I might ask it to pause the show while I step away for a bit, and it does; but, if asked to continue playing, it'll either switch to read a Kindle ebook, or stream music; so it's touchy on how it wants certain commands. The remote that it came with is great, and works nicely - unlike the older remotes that shipped with the Firestick's, this one actually has built in volume and power buttons. Voice commands work nicely with Amazon apps; but, in apps like PS Vue, not so well - like I can;t ask it to stream X-show on PS Vue; I can just ask it to open PS Vue. The nice thing is that Amazon allows for different names on their devices, so I kept the Echo in the room and call her "Alexa", which the Cube is "Echo".

I would give the Amazon Fire Tv cube a 5 star raiting but it does not have a USB input slot. I have hundreds of movies that I put on a USB memory stick but I have to use my DVD player because Amazon did away with the slot on the last Fire TV box and continued with the Cube. I own the original stick, the 4K stick, the Fire Tv Box 2, the Fire Tv box 3 and now the Cube. The Cube is Amazing though. What I love most is I am Lazy and with my voice I can turn on and off my Tv, my Stereo and my DVD player using the Cube. No remotes needed. This makes my life so much easier. You can also install Kodi and all you other apps very easily. You have Netflix, Hulu and Vudu available. Forget Roku and get a real streamer the Fire TV Cube. Oh and I paid for my Cube.

All in all this product has potential but in my opinion, when compared with more mature products on the market like Apple TV, this FireTV Cube still leaves something to be desired. I've used an Echo Dot and large Echo for years and if the FireTV Cube were as responsive as these older devices I'd like it much better. My biggest complaint is that the interface is sluggish and sometimes this sluggishness makes it feel unresponsive. Unfortunately, this problem also carries over into the voice-enabled features. For instance, I'll set an alarm and when the alarm goes off the Fire TV cube can't process my command to "stop alarm" fast enough and the alarm keeps going off. It lights up showing that it hears you but the sluggish processing sometimes leaves you repeating yourself multiple times until it responds. I've been an avid Apple TV user for many years. When I saw the opportunity to use the Alexa enabled voice commands of Fire TV Cube to control my television experience I was excited. I like where the technology is headed but in my opinion the processor power leaves something to be greatly desired. Perhaps if they put a beefier processor in the unit it would be able to compete with the performance and responsiveness of the more mature Apple TV interface. Until then, I won't be recommending the Fire TV Cube to my friends as I think they would find the experience frustrating. All things considered, I'm a techie and it is a fun device to play around with. The alexa-enabled features are very enticing but I usually find myself going back to Apple TV because things just work better. I bought 2 of these cubes on sale for around $80 each but wouldn't recommend full price for them at this point. Once Amazon decides to improve their code or add better processing power I'd get behind it in a heartbeat.

I own several Amazon devices with Alexa integration and had heard great things about the Fire Cube. It has built in support for tv's and sound systems, it lets you control nearly everything related to entertainment, and it has great speed and visual quality. It does most of those things very well, but not seamlessly as I'd hoped. It can turn on and off my tv (Samsung), it can control my DirecTv receiver (but so can any of their devices), and it can interface with my Samsung sound bar. However, it is not always intuitive and does have limitation with each of those devices. It is an improvement over the Echo control of those devices and I have no doubt it'll improve as they develop more skills and interface specific tasks. There are 2 major issues that drive me crazy about it. 1: You connect it to the tv via HDMI so it has to sit within a cable's length of the tv. The issue with that is a typical system has a sound bar or speakers somewhere near that same area and that means the Cube cannot pick up your voice reliably when the volume is up. It says put it a minimum distance from the nearest speaker/sound bar, but physical limitations prevent that in my instance. 2: When you use voice control in the FireTV portion itself, it is by no means flawless. I tried to get ESPN to search for softball and it pulls up tennis highlights. I tried to get it to play The Umbrella Academy on Netflix and it pulled up a link to the comic book on Amazon. Some of the commands are a matter of learning how to say them and some are just not integrated. Good, but not perfect. I think it'll improve over the years though so the biggest issue will be the location aspect.

Great at voice commands and you have the ability to play and control music via your soundbar or home entertainment/theater system is seamless. However I couldn't access the TV Cubes Dolby Atmos feature. Despite it stating Dolby Atmos clearly on the Box. Which is the only reason I bought the Cube. I Made a call to Amazon Tech Support and they couldn't activate the Cubes Dolby Atmos feature either. . , Long story short I returned it. But only because I have a Fire TV Stick. If you want Dolby Atmos then I wouldn't recommend buying the TV Cube. However if you don't want or need Dolby Atmos then I would highly recommend The Amazon Fire TV Cube. After all who doesn't want to control things with your voice. I was able to turn the TV off and On, control the volume and change the channel all with my voice. I was even able to Control Netflix, Amazon Video, Music Apps and my Xbox all with my voice. How cool is that...!!!

I bought this under the promotion for $79. I was expecting this to help me to use less all of the remotes I have. And I was also expecting to be a more rounding and better then previous models. Not so much. The good: - quality of the product is good. Picture quality too. - works very good within Amazon prime ecosystem - Better remote control with volume included. - Kind of neat that you can control several things with voice command. What still need work in my opinion:: - Wired connection is 10/100Mbps. If your internet is anything higher than 100Mbps it will not make any difference. Most likely 100Mbps is enough for now, but should be future proof. Roku has the same specs/issue by the way. Apple TV 4K has better ethernet wired connection with faster internet speed. - Sometime gets slow, not sure why. Take a while to respond to commands. So slow that I switch to Apple TV. - In a few occasions it starts to talk alone or perform actions that were not requested. - Performance wise not better than other Fire TV's I have (old models). Not bad but I was expecting much better. All in all, not bad but still not the best streaming device. I still find the Apple TV to be a better round solution and even better quality. I still recommend it, specially if you are a prime member and can get it under promotion.
