I prefer the Kindle to a book. I like the change of letter size, storing many, many books, and the ease of carrying it. I love to read when I travel, and this is the way to go.

In trying to get my son to read more and thought a kindle would help. First I got a good deal on an old kindle model that had been refurbished and it quickly broke. I had a gift card to Best Buy and this one was on sale, so I got it for him. I also bought him a silicone case and bought a Best Buy warranty. It is much easier to use this model vs the old one that he had originally, and I like that you can use FreeTime app on this device but you only just get the books. I also use overdrive to get him books from the library. So far it is working great for us. I bought this at Best Buy instead of getting it online from Amazon because I like the Best Buy warranty and that they are easier to deal with than Amazon.

I had been reading on my iPad and this was on sale and decided to give it a try. I will never read on an the iPad again, this makes it so easy!

Small & without audio but easy to use. Able to connect to Amazon account & Goodreads account easily. The only thing I hate is that I have to keep restarting it if I want to get out of a ebook that I’m currently reading

Kindle is a very easy to use and easy to read device. From the start, you are navigated through setup to sign in and instructed how to order and download books. The size makes it easy to use with one hand and no glare allows you read anywhere. If that is not enough, you can link a bluetooth device and listen to audible books on the go. Kindle is a wonderful addition for any reader and for those who have reading difficulties, audible is there to get you through those tough reads.

Small, light easy to read in any lighting. If you are looking for a device that serves one purpose, to read books anywhere, this is for you.

I like this e reader, but wish the screen were higher resolution. It requires decent light to look good, but it is easy on my eyes. The screen updates involve flashing the whole screen, which I noticed less over time. The advertised month long battery life is just standby time, it lasts much less if you are downloading and reading books.

I purchased this Kindle for my wife because her Kindle Fire gives off too much glare to use in sunny conditions. Besides being able to use it while riding in the car during daytime, the biggest advantage she found is that it is significantly lighter than the Fire. Since she reads for hours on end that is a big plus. The main drawback is that the graphics aren't as clear with this reader. All in all, it was money well spent.

This is a great size for traveling. Fits into a small purse easily. Would have liked to see the screen go a little brighter. I don't read in the dark so I didn't think that I would have needed the backlighting of the Paperwhite, but this Kindle is a little dim for my over 50 eyes. None the less, it is easy to see in bright sunlight and hold a great charge, especially when in Airplane mode! I got this on sale, and it was a good purchase for the price.

No suprises here. I have owned the 7th generation Kindle before and the 8th generation came as a lighter and better upgrade to the version. Great functionality and awesome reading experience.

This is a great way to read books on the go. There's no backlight, so reading in darker rooms may be hard. But it's affordable and portable and a great way to take all your books with you.

I travel a lot for work and this ebook has changed my life. Instead of carrying around 2-3 books, I now place this in the zipper of my bag and have access to all the books I need. The screen is also very similar to paper and I find I do not get “screen fatigue” It does take a little time getting used to reading off the unit but the ability to adjust text size is a big help.

Everything is great except that i can't read external pdfs properly. Either it zooms too much of too little. For kindle books it provides great experience. Battery life is awesome!

Good features and quality. Would be nice if it worked better in low light. Should have stepped up for the backlit one. This is nice if your conditions are bright.

Loving my kindle! Can read all the books I want from the library without leaving the house! And when it’s time to move, no more heavy boxes to haul!

This is more a no-frills Kindle compared to the ones that had keyboards and nicer back-lit features. But it does the job. Make sure to get it on sale.

Bought this for my 90+ year-old, totally no-tech mom. Her first e-book is Gone with the Wind. She likes the size and ease of use.

This is the best alternative to hard copy book. Fluid page turning and wonderful screen light. Light weight and easy to hold. Love it!!

After using a series of low end tablets as an e-Reader, I purchased this on sale for $50. It only really does one thing - display Kindle books in normal lighting, but it does it well. Size, feel, and battery life are all good, and unlike LCD-based tablets it is easy to read outside. The Amazon lock-screen ads are not that intrusive, and easy to ignore.
