The color trade off is so worth it in an e-reader. Setup was easy, all I had to do was connect to WiFi and sign in, my books were immediately ready for download. The quality is superb when it came to reading during the day, and using the warm light and dark mode at night to take the stress off my eyes. As an avid reader and dedicated user of the kindle, my only complaint is the battery life. I did have to return/exchange the first colorsoft because of a defect, there was a huge line on the screen, similar to crosshairs within a day of testing (inserted image exhibits). It didn’t start that way but a few hours of reading I noticed it wouldn’t go away so, I ended up getting another after dealing with a little bit of incompetence at the store, which was expected because it’s holiday season but I digress. the attendants were not very helpful asking to see a receipt before they even confirmed if they had a replacement on hand and after speaking with the manager a couple of times it turns out they didn’t have a replacement and didn’t need a receipt to confirm that, but the manager stepped in and ordered one at a sister location where I was able to pick up within the hour. With the new kindle, I find myself having to charge the colorsoft after a couple days of use, which doesn’t necessarily bother me because I’m mostly at home but I notice just simply scrolling through the store or switching through titles a few times will affect the battery by about 10-15% compared to the Kindle basic or the Kindle Paperwhite; and then reading, of course, takes up a majority of the battery life on top of that. I’m hoping there is an update that tends to battery life in the near future. Overall pretty good product. I’m happy to see my book covers in color, it brings my library to life, and comics are more fun to read. With over 200 books in my digital library it’s so much easier to just browse and manage them on the kindle and that’s my favorite part. The price was worth it being that it was purchased during the $80 off sale (I paid $164), however for over $200 I’d think twice about buying it at its regular price because it seems a little steep for just the color trade off and sub-par battery life.

I absolutely love it. I had the paper white and upgraded to the color soft and truly I don’t understand what anyone complains about because this display is great and it’s crisp and I just absolutely love it. Bring it everywhere with me. I definitely also recommend getting the protection on it just because like I said if you’re like me, I throw it in my bag and I take it everywhere with me, but 100% recommend this

I was initially worried about the Amazon ecosystem because I don't have any Amazon devices but the send to Kindle functionality is easy to use and makes migrating an existing ePub library painless.

I bought this Kindle on Black Friday so it was a great deal. It’s easy to use but since this is my first Kindle I don’t know how it compares to the other versions. This one is a bit slow but overall I like it.

Great reading resource. You must use internet to use Hoopla, etc which is very slow. Love the reading light. Lots of storage. Battery life exceptional.

Bit the bullet on this one after having the original kindle forever. I love it and love how you can make the cover of the book the lock screen 10/10 so far.

After extensive research all year on whether to get a tablet or an e-ink device for my increasingly digital reading habits I finally pulled the trigger on this version of the Colorsoft and have been enjoying it thoroughly for the past month. I read a mix of novels and comics, and the Colorsoft has proven to be the right choice. While not as large as an iPad or similar sized tablets, reading comics is a pleasure on the Colorsoft thanks to what can probably be best described as "newsprint" style color reproduction. This works great for comic books from the 1990s and earlier decades. Newer comics like Batman: Hush don't fair quite as well, but are still readable, particularly with Kindle's guided view for comic book panels. You will need to turn up the backlight to read and enjoy comics but it's worth the battery tradeoff. IMHO, it was worth spending the extra money on the Colorsoft for my mix of reading, but if you are a strict novel reader I would probably recommend the Paperwhite instead.

The 2025 verison of the colorsoft is really enjoyable, no dreaded yellow band at the bottom of the screen and also no grainy text.

This is my first time owning a Kindle, so I kind of went all out. I’m not a big reader, but I’m trying to make it a habit, and this device definitely helps with that. The color is very nice, and even my coworker—who has an older Kindle—loved it so much that it made her want to upgrade. That said, I was a little disappointed with a few things. I thought audiobooks would work more like a read-along where you can follow the words on the page, but it feels more like listening to a podcast. I also hoped I could tap on a word and have it pronounced, but the only way to do that is through accessibility mode, which talks nonstop and requires double-tapping for everything. If that mode were customizable, this would be an amazing device.

I love it! I take it everywhere it’s so light in comparison to carrying physical books everywhere I want to take a book!

I absolutely love this Kindle. It is brighter and more vibrant than my black-and-white Kindle paper white. I have both. But I do enjoy having the availability to notate and highlight in color. Though I wish it was a bit more vibrant. I like the look of it. I also wish they had different highlighter colors.

Got the Colorsoft version for my wife. She loves it and I’m kinda jealous! Having color is nice for those books that have maps or other images that reference various things. Great battery life in the same small factor as the paper soft.

Very easy on the eyes and battery life is amazing. As for color, IMO, a gimmick unless you like graphic novels in color

Amazing item! Got it as a gift for my wife and she's absolutely loved i, we've been able to save so much money on buying books and having such a diverse library on the kindle really allowed her to find new books she wouldn't of read.
