The Best Color (Kaledio) eReader I've Seen Yet

I don't know what kind of magic they do in Seattle, but Amazon has knocked it out of the park with the Colorsoft. I got this as an Anniversary gift for my partner as they're very much a reader, and while they love comics and graphic novels, they'd get frustrated at the lack of color on their Paperwhite, and didn't enjoy using their phone in bed due to the backlight being blinding. I thought I'd found a solution with one of the many color eink displays offered by Boox, and while the device is very much a great attempt, there are still issues with refresh and ghosting when using color. This device has none of that. Amazon has perfected how they use a similar (if not the same) eInk display panel and the software really shows. The lighting is much more intense, with better wave guides, leading to fuller colors. There's also basically no ghosting. Amazon's use of selective and full refresh makes color content feel very natural, and enjoyable to read, even if its at half the resolution as monochrome text. The accents of color in the UI in the form of book covers and in book hyperlinks is also a nice addition. I'd still consider this very much a first gen device though. Color eInk still isn't perfect, and the most glaring example of that is lack of sharpness and saturation. This is the best execution I've see of a Kaledio screen, where a color filter sits on top of a conventional monochrome eink display, but it still suffers from muted colors, and a reduced resolution for color content. That's not a fault of Amazon, but where the technology is, especially to keep such a complete package at such a great price. In a nutshell, this is effectively a paperwhite with color, it feels the same, looks the same, and works the same. Its very much an exciting direction for the Kindle line, and I can't wait to see where it goes form here.

Literally one of the best purchases I have made for myself. For someone who recently made reading a personal habit, I have been flying through books on this thing! I love the colors of the books and the back light options are great on my eye. The value is honestly in the kindle subscription as well as linking your library card, it certainly off set the costs I was spending at my local bookstores on hard copies! I read 10 of my books on my “to read” list in less than a month.. which would have easily been $200+ in hardcopies. My only note is regarding battery life.. I saw reviews saying 3-4 weeks of battery life. That must not be regular readers, I tend to read nightly 2-3 hrs, 3-4 times a week… my battery has been lasting me 10-14 days at max and 14 is being nice lol still don’t regret the purchase!

This is a very nice looking and light weight reader. It is extremely fast and has no hesitation as you go page to page. The colors are excellent and brings more satisfaction to my reading. This is a definite improvement over previous Kindle's. I would definitely buy this Kindle again and highly recomend it.

as someone who previously owned the paperwhite, I am glad I upgraded. If you are a fan of comic reads or annotating as you read with highlights, the pop of color makes it so much more interesting to look at. has the same capabilities that the paperwhite has, although if you are looking for something more simple for light reading wouldn't recommend this product over the paperwhite. LOVE this product and use it daily.

I surprised my wife with the new ColorSoft Kindle, and it was a total win. She’s a big reader and has been using the Paperwhite for years, but the upgrade was worth it, especially with the addition of color. She loves how easy it is on the eyes, and the colored book covers and illustrations bring her reading to life in a new way. It’s lightweight, super responsive, and the battery life still holds up great. She also mentioned the warmer tone lighting is more comfortable for night reading. Overall, this Kindle made her reading experience even better, and seeing how much she enjoys it makes it a 10/10 gift in my book. If you’re shopping for someone who loves to read, this is a thoughtful, tech-savvy upgrade that doesn’t disappoint.

I love this device! I was on the fence about purchasing it since it cost more than the Paperwhite Signature, but I haven't regretted it once. I researched other options, such as Kobo Libra, but this one won out because of the e-ink technology. It's small enough to go everywhere, and I love seeing the colors of the book covers. Plus, it's durable, and I keep dropping it off my bed after falling asleep, yet it remains in pristine condition. It hasn't left my hand since I got it a month ago, and I don't plan to let this one go.

I have had a Kindle Paper-white for a couple of years, but BestBuy was having a sale so I decided to upgrade to the colorsoft and give it a chance. I know there were concerns about yellow on the bottom. I have not seen that at all. It seeks like kindle fixed it. I LOVE this kindle! I love the color screen savers and color book covers. Plus it works well with magazines. Its also super fast. My books download quickly and the page turning is smooth. I also like the wireless charging and magsafe capability. I purchased a magsafe case that allows me to use a magnetic pop socket. Overall I am very happy with my purchase.

The color is a nice addition and it makes the reading experience more enjoyable, with the covers in color and pops of color where present in book content. Note that it’s still e-ink so the color is muted and won’t be as bright and vivid as a tablet or phone. Slightly darker screen and less contrast vs. black and white Kindle due to the design of the color screen. Feels more responsive, less delay when tapping on things or turning pages vs the previous generation Paperwhite.
